A car is made for the one who likes that car, NOT everyone. I'm a 64 year old man who loves his 2021 Acura TLX A spec, black on black. Best sedan I've ever had
I agree with you 100% and I'm 64 also and love my 2021 Acura TLX A-Spec red. Also the best sedan I've ever had and I'm a Honda/Acura fanboy driving them for 40 years this year. 40 years of not going in for car repairs I might add.
I'm 52 and currently own my 8th Acura, a '16 TLX Advance. I love the new model and will very likely be replacing mine within the next year. The TLX is exactly the car I want. I do think I will splurge for the Type S though. Anxiously waiting for the car and subsequent reviews.
@@a32tl I did. I’ve had it for a little over a week and driven about 500 miles so far. The car is so nice. It’s very different from ‘15 v6. The torque is quite nice, but the gas mileage is not. Oh well. The interior is such an upgrade. I test drive the c300 and A4; I am very happy with my choice!!
Beautiful car! I love that Acura kept the traditional speedo and tach in this car! I also love that Acura is still including separate fog lights in its designs!
I sat in the new TLX a couple months ago. I'm 5'11" and even with the driver's seat set to my position, there's plenty of leg room in the back for someone my height. Anyone taller than 6' in the back, I'd probably have to move the driver's seat up a little. This is no different than in a 3-series or C-class and actually better than the Lexus IS and Genesis G70 I've sat in. Quick side note, shoulder room is VERY good for this class and makes the cab look really big. Kinda surprised Todd would go for a Giulia instead, it's even MORE cramped inside than the Genesis G70, let alone the TLX.
Interesting. Todd has crawled in the back of all of these cars with the front seat in his driving position. For him the TLX was definitely worst. The shoulder room here is great though. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely agree, folk act like compact luxury cars, A4, 3 series, C-class, etc are limousines, they are not...they offer the same amount of room. The ILX will have the room/space of the the A3, 2 series, A/B class, etc..
The thing is the TLX is realistically a mid sized sedan. It's always been longer than It's competitors by a decent margin for 3 generations now. This one is even bigger and wider than the previous gen. If they can make a car this big then why not make the space more usable? It's basically big and heavy for no reason.
Acura hit all the right notes with the styling. That is an absolutely beautiful car. I drive a 3 series and this is a more stunning car. I'm very interested in the Type S and what it will bring to the table.
Luckily, I am 5'8". I am looking forward to getting one by the end of the year. Thank you very much for your review. Appreciate and enjoyed it very much.
The average American male height is 5'9". I imagine Shaquille O'Neal would not like the back seat, but Danny DeVito would talk about how spacious the back seat is. :-)
Good point but I like that they are taller. I'm a rideshare driver and I pick up taller larger passengers than me. I'm 5'7" so most people rarely have problems behind me however if I get a full load, it's typically a over 6ft person in the passenger seat. The front passenger seat accomdates for taller passengers, or larger, or injured passengers that need the leg room for entry/exit. I currently use Chevy Cruz and the rear seating sits high and doesn't have good leg room for over 6'3" passengers, it's about just enough. It could use 3" more.
Yeah for me (6’2”) a family man whose kids are grown and driving their own cars, this TLX that I picked up last week is darn near perfect for my size and my needs. I can fit people in the back, but honestly, I only need to do that maybe once, twice a year. On the everyday, I am massively happy and this is coming from someone whose been driving an Accord EX-L for the past 4 years. Yes that back seat space was class leading and AMAZING, but…..it wasn’t being used more than a couple times a year, so who cares? Anyway, I’m loving my new ride especially after seeing the incredibly boring, sedate and downright ugly (inside) 2023 Accord redesign. I was waiting for it, glad I skipped it.
Thank you so much for listening your height. I’m looking at the typos version of this and you and I are the same height. What is it like for you getting in and out of the car? When I went to the dealership I definitely had to do a little bit of ducking.
@@Bnizzofashizzo it’s not really a problem at all for me. That said, even when people are the same height, some have linger legs and others have linger torsos. So that may be a difference between us. I don’t have any trouble getting in or out and I have longer legs, shorter torso.
Im only 5'8 so it fits me well. My wife is 5'2 and she is the primary driver. Fits us good. We love ours. Awesome driving car. We only have the base model and the tech is ridiculous 😮
I’m 5’8, my wife is 5’4, my son is 12 and 5’ and my 18 year old daughter is 5’2. We all fit perfectly. So yes guys this car is not for a family of Giants 😁 we also have a 2017 Tahoe for longer trips. 👍🏼🕺🏻💃🏻
Brother! Go work for Acura! It would look fantastic as a wagon. Their getting there, but they need just a little more? Maybe the Type S, will be the 10?
sadly, after 2011, Acura can't spell "wagon" anymore because they hamstrung themselves with a single engine/transmission, one-way spec'd wagon that did so-so. It did so-so because Acura gave buyers no room for improvement; one way, our (Honda) way; you the buyer can choose the color and that's it...
I’m an owner of a new A-Spec TLX with white and red seats with that SH-AWD system. Let me tell you... It’s a well balanced vehicle in terms of power and tech and comfort and looks and material quality. The Type S will be the more performance version of the vehicle and i will be test driving it as well and compare. Well done Acura 💯
What’s with sedan makers. I think poor Todd’s back can’t take these back seat tests. Last week it was that BMW so-called 2 series sedan and now this. At least it’s not a crossover. Great video.
Starting in 2021, Acura gave the TLX its own, newly designed platform. It no longer shares platforms with the Accord, which is why the TLX has such different cabin space, interior design, and driving dynamics.
I’m 6’3”, and bought a 2021 TLX A-Spec SH-AWD a month ago. This review is spot-on. I love the way the car looks, the way it drives, and the front row of the interior. But the back seat is a joke for a car of its size, and the trunk has a smaller opening than my 2008 Civic sedan (I could fit my hard-sided cooler in my Civic, but can’t fit it in my TLX. Had they extended the roofline in the rear 4”, given the back seat 2-3 more inches of legroom, and made it a lift back instead of a trunk, I think it would be a perfect car. But as it stands, it’s a compromise. I was between the TLX and the RDX. I went TLX for how it drove, but I suppose time will tell if it’s a car I can live with long term, or if the back seat and trunk comprises force me to sell the car and look elsewhere.
I think you guys are usually spot on with your comments and watch your weekly show. I think your comments because of your height of 6 FT 3 for the both of you, stating the rear seating entry is much is smaller than others cars to get in and out, not true. The rear seating entry situation the same of many cars I have owned or have been in. I am 6ft and this is very common for me too. You seem to point this out to the extreme on this car. I think it is a good car and I might think of getting this car in a few years. My feeling guys.
While we understand that the height issue is not universal, we’ve driven most of the sedans in this segment in the past year and this TLX was the worst for rear seat room. If that isn’t an issue for a buyer then this car is excellent, but we spend time on it here because it was the worst we’ve encountered in this size. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment !
This car has fantastic interior with most comfortable seat and position. Well planted and balanced driving. Much better than EV cars out there including Tesla model 3. Acura TLX and BMW 330i/340i are the best
It will be a great CPO buy (for me.) For perspective the wheelbase on the Acura TLX is 113 in (almost the same as a Crown Victoria) but the interior room is in the compact category.
Yes! I bought my 12 TL CPO. It was 2 years old with 19,000 miles and I paid about 22,000 for it. It was a steal at that price. Same will be true In a couple years with these.
After owning an 06 and 2010 TL, I was excited to try this. Like you, I found it a mixed bag. I wanted to like it so much but I couldn't. Like most of us, we're waiting for the Type S to see if the added power makes this worth while. Currently, it feels too big and heavy for the 4 cylinder. It turns nicely but transmission and lack of power have me with the G70 3.3TT top choice for now. I currently drive a 2016 Lexus IS 350 fsport (lease is up next week), and that's another updated car, like Acura, that has great driving dynamics but is in serious need of a more powerful engine. Great review! And at 6'3" iI feel your pain lol
I love the '21 TLX and it is the perfect car for me. Yes, I would appreciate some more back seat room but honestly, I rarely ever have back seat passengers and when I do, it's usually for a short period of time. The car is gorgeous. I'm surprised they made no mention of the upcoming Type S model that will bring the turbo V6 engine. I'm really waiting for that version to come out and to watch all the reviews on it. I have a '16 TLX Advance now and I'm very likely going to be replacing it with a Type S within the next year. Good looking, fun car to drive.
Probably didn’t mention the Type S because the main point of the video was the interior size of the car, which will be the same for Type S. If someone who is taller can get beyond the interior being cramped in the ASpec, they’d undoubtedly have no issue with the other car
I'm pretty sure referring to the Accord as the TLX's "sister" car is a bit inaccurate. I believe the TLX is built on a unique platform not shared with any other vehicles in the Honda lineup.
Finally a review that discussed the elephant in the room....or several of them. Thank you. Acura had such potential in this design came so close and totally dropped the ball in day to day things like ergonomics and space and mpg. And their trim levels make zero sense. Sad to see. Stinger design, or the Sport back design is the way you save sedans. To me the sport back is the next evolution of what sedans need to become because they are sill practical and fun. Sadly the Kia's biggest hurdle will always hold it back....it is a Kia and that stigma isn't going away overnight. If Acura or Honda, Toyota etc made the Stinger I believe it would have been a much bigger hit
I'm 5'10" and I fit perfectly into my 2007 Acura TL Type-S. I CAN'T WAIT for the Acura TLX Type-S 2021. HOW MANY buyers of this car are OVER 6' tall? Talk about a bunch of WHINERS!
I'm 6'1"/170 and I've never had any problem fitting into any of the 8 Acuras that I've owned and don't have any worries about fitting in the '21 when I end up upgrading.
I own one, and I will never have a larger than average 5' 9" person in my back seat. As a matter of fact, I didn't buy this car to roll with people in the back at all! Just me and the wife. Fun!! My other vehicle, the Acura RDX is used when I have the rare need for people in the back seat. This car also has v-tec and it also comes alive when pushing to about 5.5k rpm or so. Love this car, but waiting for the S-Type. Finally, besides kids, how many people find themselves riding 3 or 4 adults around. As for the kids growing up, a 1 or 2 year period (U.S. average of 1.93 kids and most kids are not 6' 3" until 16 or so if they are going to be larger than average 5' 9' American male height). Most of the time people are driving their sedans and SUVs with empty back seats and in the college years, you throw 10 people on top of each other in the back of your hooptie.
If you want more space Acura has the RDX and MDX. I think they needed a car like this that looked good and drive well. The only problem for me is the price. Here in Canada it's exactly the same price as the Stinger that has alot more power like you guys said. I know it's not the same level of car, but my Mazda 3 AWD turbo is as fast as this, look as good inside and cost me 15k less. I don't know about you, but it's too much of a difference in price for me.
Yep, nailed it about space. If SUVS are selling, then why are automakers making sedans lower with less headroom? That's not what people want. Sedans in their golden age weren't like that. They were taller with more greenhouse.
The do-it-all sedans of the "golden age" were losing to SUVs, so automakers had to adapt by either changing them or just stop making them. I think doubling down on the sedan's strengths, looks and handling, is a reasonable way to keep them relevant to at least some buyers. The trade-off is lower ride and less headroom, but most consumers who care about that are already in an SUV.
if people wanted increased space they'd buy an SUV.. like they're ALREADY DOING. this is a sport sedan without sport compromise, not an SUV replacement. you and the reviewers don't understand the market, clearly.
I have watched every review for this car and watched this on my tv. But felt it was so good i had to get in my phn and post this. Thank u so much guys. I am picking up base 21 tlx awd this weekend, have had a 21 rdx with same powertrain for the past month on loan. It does go pretty good so i thought a car wld be nice. Was scared abt the 4000 pnds but now not so much. I dont think any car wld beat this for safety besides a volvo just maybe.
@@rdjqser3272 fuel in oil. Car stinks of fumes. Oil gas fumes in cabin. My 19 ilx had same problem. So rear main seal defect. And oil dilution problem still.
Thank you guys for emphasizing lack of interior space, no one else is pointing that out Also 6'3" and was looking forward to this car for years to upgrade from my Accord but got disappointed
@@AFCompany The redesign offered an opportunity to offer more leg room. Acura is the only brand going backwards with interior leg room being even smaller which will come back to bite them. Times are going to be even more tough financially for many so people will want a car that can serve multiple purposes. The Suvs don't handle the same nor do they get the same mpgs.
@@thejake8099 even someone 5'11" will hardly have much leg room for rear passengers. Acura shot themselves in the foot by making this performance oriented towards the S type. They won't be breaking any records with sales due to the impracticality
I have a 1 year old and desperately want a car to replace my audi a6. Aside from the TLX the only other unique, fun, great looking car I can see is the BMW 840i gran coupe. Any other suggestions?
Stinger is maybe 10,000 dollars less, but will have to be repaired 10,000 times more than this car. Why car reviewers ignore reliability is baffling to me. No one cares about "performance" if the hunk of junk (KIA, BMW, Benz, Audi, etc.) spends more time in a repair bay than on the road.
Todd, seeing you stuff yourself into the back seat was eye opening. I'm sorry you're so bid. Being 5'7", I imagine I'd fit in there nicely. Good test drive review.
I’m 5 7 - got this booked yesterday. And the room is more than enough. The car is really worth the money. At least in Canada. The a-spec is an absolute steal.
Acura has already acknowledged the perceived shortcomings of this car when they released it. They know that people who want space go to SUVs and don't even bother with sedans. That is reality and also why I feel Acura has made a mistake in not offering the RDX in Type-S form.
I’ve heard eventually every model will be offered in Type S per the chief engineer. Might not have wanted to cannibalize sales of the TLX type S by offering RDX Type S too soon after TLX launch.
I want to see the Type S. This 4 banger version vs the Kia Stinger, I would take the Stinger. Now, lets see the Type S and that may be a real competitor to the G70.
These guys keep complaining about the interior space - yes, it's a bit smaller than a mid size should be, but for an average size adult, the space is fine....not huge but adequate. The touchpad is where Acura dropped the ball - needed a rotary dial, as the touch screen makes fingerprints
Thanks I learned a lot from this review. I've owned five Honda sedans since 1978 and test drove and loved the 2005 Acura TL when it first was released as it handled well, had 300hp had gobs of interior space front and back and was luxurious. I just don't like the way Honda and Acura have been designing the outside and inside of their cars to look like angry creases all over the place. I know I'm old but just wish Honda and Acura would take a design clue from the smooth curves of Porsche :)
I would get the 2021 IS350 F-Sport. Handles better, rides better, much more cohesive driver's car and more reliable as well. Also significantly smaller turning radius so it's much more agile and maneuverable.
Great review and discussion here. It’s a shame that the general car buying public’s overwhelming preference for CUV’s has meant that car makers feel the need to take drastic styling measures to draw people to sedans, which then compromises them so much that buyers end up in CUV’s anyhow. Which is essentially confirmation bias that we “need” the space of a CUV or SUV. I agree with Todd - Giulia or G70 for my money.
According to J.D. Power research data, 65% of TLX buyers are men, matching the average for the Compact Premium Car segment. They are slightly older than average (58 years of age vs. 56), and they're making less money than average
This makes sense. I have a TLX A-Spec 2021 for about $47,000. The main competition, the Audi A4 and the BMW 330i, when comparably equipped cost $55-60k. it put luxury within the reach of the people making less money than average.
@@nathanielcashjr.732 the M340i is $6,000-8,000 off MSRP. Get a loaner car to save even more. These lease at about $500/month or so which has near 60% residual, according to leasehackr.
I fking love Acura. They are marvelous vehicles. That being said, I feel that unlike Lexus, which feels distinct as a brand from Toyota, Acura still feels like Honda's experiment with luxury. This is not a dishonorable thing, but am I alone in this observation?
The TLX will change your perception of that. As they mentioned, the TLX has a brand new platform separate from the Accord this generation. Also, I disagree with you on Lexus. The ES exterior looks okay but the interior is literally just a Camry with better materials.
Right on the money about the space inefficiencies. This is 3" longer than a 9th generation Accord that has behemoth rear seat room. Very American-car like to design something so inefficient inside. It's one thing to design a small car on an exterior dimension basis, but this ain't that.
News flash : a car doesn’t have to be everything to every person. I like the styling. So what if it doesn’t have head space for six footers. They can buy other cars. Why must every car need to be one size fits all ? If you want rear room, get the f-ing Accord and stop botching.
I mean, their job is to drive cars and give THEIR thoughts. Their opinions don't align with mine because I'm under 6ft so something like this would be fine for me. And it's OK for them to point out that tall folks don't fit in this. You do realize there are tall people out there that watch videos like this for research just like you and I do, right?
@@stephenpatterson8056 I agree. That’s why I was saying that there are other cars. Some people want a lot of room, or in your case, a car that fits you. My issue is when manufacturers try and make one size fit all….or make too many trade offs in the name of trying to fit as many people into that specific category.
I also don't understand the 10 gears. My c43 has 9 gears and it's already too many. I don't see why 7 isn't enough. Just tune the ratios in the higher gears to be a lot longer for fuel efficiency. No one flooring it on the road will be flooring it past 4th gear anyhow.
Check out Jason camissa on issimi when he talks about ford/GM 10spd. also talks about the Cayman gt4 and it's gearing issues. In fact, just watch all of them!
My 335i gets 30+ all the time on the highway. On a trip to Nebraska I got 37.8 the whole trip...to CO a couple times I averaged 35ish with lots of high speed cruising. 30 out of a turbo 4 in 2021 is not acceptable.
Ok, family's with kids, need something else.of course, a normal size person can always move the seat up a few inches to make more room in back without it being a big deal. But for single people, or a couple with no kids, this is just fine. And as a happy single person, I only use the back seat for groceries and stuff.
Since you guys get nice (top shelf) press cars; it would be really awesome of you TWO to request TWO of the same press cars - one top shelf like this TLX A-Spec SH-AWD and one of the bottom trim, minimally-spec'd (e.g no packages if possible) FWD. The A-spec is a $2700 option that REQUIRES the $4,000 Technology package; so in essence, it is a $6,700 option. Then the SH-AWD is another $,2000 on top of that. So, the one you have is $8,000 plus other options/accessories more than the starting point. Where does my extra $8k go? Is the 20% more of MSPR really worth it??? or absolutely necessary???
Great question. However, manufacturers rarely have anything below the mid range of any model available to press. In general they want reviewers in the highest options possible to put the car in its best light. Thanks for watching!
This was a fun review. I'm tall too and it's refreshing to see someone who understands. I drive a Giulia. Does this or the Giulia have a smaller backseat?
On paper the Giulia has just 0.1 inches of more combined legroom than the TLX. But after sitting in both I'd say the TLX feels much bigger, probably due to the much larger shoulder room in the Acura.
Acura has had an ergonomics problem for a while. I considered an ILX back in 2015, I went to check out the back seat space and slammed my shoulder into the roof on my way in. That was the end of me considering the car.
This is the first time I have to say the Honda Accord 2.0T is a better car with the same engine. I tested one and for an extra 12k more than an Accord 2.0T sport the looks just don't justify the price increase.
okay... but the increased smoothness, handling, luxury equipment, awd, and quietness are all things that justify the 12k price increase. What you mean to say is the Accord fits your personal needs just as well, but that doesn't mean it's a better car.
@@jay.fromthebay To be real with you those extra toys aren't worth the extra 12k. Honda is already professionals at making a FWD car handle extremely well so I don't feel like I am missing out with my purchase choice. Maybe the type S would be better but that's going to be 20k on top of my car.
Wait my midsize Lexus GSF wheelbase is 112.2 while this new TLX is 113in - that’s crazy when I think back on the 3rd gen TL. That being said a used Lexus GSF has decent rear seat room, awful infotainment :(, great safety tech, and a reliable 467hp NA v8 all for between $43k-$60k.
Watching this again, sorry man, you just have a long torso. The problem is more you, not the car. Compromised? Yes, but not to the extreme level as you make it out to be. I think you’d just like it to fit you and I don’t blame you. At 6’-2” I’m really comfortable. Favorite sedan ever.
You guys should be more proud that an American luxury car is on par with the Germans. That would help leave better impressions on potential buyers that blindly listen to reviewers rather than use their own brains. This car looks excellent, great job Acura
Too much complaining about interior size! When we get to performance fine but even then too much complaining about how uncomfortable you are, we get it the first time. It’s a sports sedan, isn’t that the compromise? If you want comfort go Lexus.
Great video...how much road noise is there at highway speeds? Tall people, just like obese people, don't spend your money on small cars you can't fit in, but then complain about..🤷🏾♂️
3:08 jesus all those extra inches ? and the cabin is that small ??? 3:22 a sketch that we drive that's not rly a car first,, sad :(( (this is what i love abt like bmw and subaru, always a cabin first, then a design on top)
7:44 i mean damn if they did extend the roof, they could not even need to make the trunk smaller if they make it a,, uhh,, uhmmm,, (4door) "shooting brake"
The Accord and Passat (and possibly others) are roomier and cheaper, and there are sportier models with a similar price. This might be too much of a tweener to be the favorite choice of many people.
I'm 5'10, can't wait to get mine, i fit perfect in it, plus i don't sit in the back seats, so who gives a shit, car is hot but only the S type not gonna pay 47k for a 278 HP 4 cylinder, if ima pay then i want what i pay for!! v6 355 HP, wanna trip this car out put a K&N air intake, will make this car a Beast!
BTW, the Stinger is a POS! I truly do not understand car reviewers. They act as if reliability somehow doesn't matter and as if everyone is earning 100k a year. A person of modest means can buy a used one of these and still have a reliable car as opposed to buying a new Stinger (no longer made) and going to the dealership for repairs and hoping the repair costs aren't so bad once it's out of warranty. So the back seat is cramped. So what? It reminds me of my dad's 1972 Ford Torino. it was a two door. For a good time in my life I was able to get into the back seat as a kid. Then, by the time I truly outgrew the back seat, it was time to take my own driver's test and get my own car, which was a 1982 Chevy Monte Carlo. Again, not a lot of room in the back seat. I didn't care! We live in such a woosified era!
Yeah pretty much. It's a really nice car and a big step up for Acura. Could it have been better still? Sure. But it's so far superior to the previous Acura sedans
You guys hit the nail on the head with the new TLX effectively having only 2 usable seats. Coming from an accord, this was a huge downgrade for me - so I had to go with another brand.
Thank god the rear seats are smaller...good excuse to not take co workers to lunch. Its made for average height people like me (5'10). I dont have 4 6feet plus friends and a majority people dont either. You guys are overweight, not the cars fault.
Like he said elephant in the room..........this car is 47k. A Kia stinger GT AWD can get for 37k. That’s 10k less with 100hp n 100tq more. Also it’s a proper longitudinal V6 rear wheel drive platform. With so much more interior room with a interior that is just as nice if nicer. Acura took there shot and missed.
the Stinger is a great car, unfortunately the Kia dealership was trash. They wouldn't let me test drive or even sit in the car. I'm not surprised the Stinger has been a sales failure and that it's getting discontinued after just 1 generation.
@@TheBreakfastLover the fact still is the stinger is 10k less and a way better car. Like I said Acura took there shot n missed. They seemed confused making this car lol

@@Nestle245 easy answer: you can't have RWD proportions on a FWD-based chassis without compromising interior space.
At 5'8" you'll have no problems with the interior space, front or rear. I'm 5'11" and found the interior room plenty.
Times like this I'm glad to be somewhat short, lol.
@@TheBreakfastLover thanks! I am really excited about the TLX. Going from Lexus to Acura, so hope it be a good switch.

I don't think you guys should even talk about interior space being 6'3 😂. I'm 5'8 and it feels so spacious lol
I'm 5' 6" my hubby is 6'4" it was helpful to know whether to take the time to test drive.
When used as a 2+2, this car is excellent. We’re glad you have one and so enjoy it. Thanks for watching!

Acura and Mazda are really excelling at the moment
The Mazda 6 is beautiful. I just wish they offered Awd. I can't wait for the inline 6 redesign!

@@Ecuador006 I'd rather not buy an SUV, granted there are a handful of brilliant SUV's but I'd rather have something different
At 6’3 it’s pretty to find a mainstream sedan with good space in the back even accord and Camry have limited headroom
Starting in 2021, Acura gave the TLX its own, newly designed platform. It no longer shares platforms with the Accord, which is why the TLX has such different cabin space, interior design, and driving dynamics.
I feel like the biggest reason people have left the sedan behind is not so much the space, but how high you sit in, originally, SUVs and also CUVs.
The exhaust note sounds decent on that on ramp
This car has fantastic interior with most comfortable seat and position. Well planted and balanced driving. Much better than EV cars out there including Tesla model 3.
Acura TLX and BMW 330i/340i are the best
The BMW's are head and shoulders above the TLX. There is no comparison between them.
It will be a great CPO buy (for me.)
For perspective the wheelbase on the Acura TLX is 113 in (almost the same as a Crown Victoria) but the interior room is in the compact category.
Yes! I bought my 12 TL CPO. It was 2 years old with 19,000 miles and I paid about 22,000 for it. It was a steal at that price. Same will be true In a couple years with these.
CPO for me too!

@@Rickster1965 the majority of buyers of a TLX aren't 6'3, so they're whining about something that most owners won't complain about
I'm pretty sure referring to the Accord as the TLX's "sister" car is a bit inaccurate.
Agreed here. Stinger such a great car

This thing will be mine in the future. Every review tempts me more
I own one, and I will never have a larger than average 5' 9" person in my back seat.
It'll be between the upcoming Type S or the 2022 Genesis G70 for me. Any suggestions?
I like how you gentlemen go back and forth
Yep, nailed it about space. If SUVS are selling, then why are automakers making sedans lower with less headroom? That's not what people want. Sedans in their golden age weren't like that. They were taller with more greenhouse.
The do-it-all sedans of the "golden age" were losing to SUVs, so automakers had to adapt by either changing them or just stop making them. I think doubling down on the sedan's strengths, looks and handling, is a reasonable way to keep them relevant to at least some buyers. The trade-off is lower ride and less headroom, but most consumers who care about that are already in an SUV.
Disagree here. For Sedans to exist at this point they need looks and fun driving. SUVs and Trucks have them beat in practical use.
if people wanted increased space they'd buy an SUV.. like they're ALREADY DOING. this is a sport sedan without sport compromise, not an SUV replacement. you and the reviewers don't understand the market, clearly.
One of the reasons why people went to suvs was the view of the road or being higher up also.
I have watched every review for this car and watched this on my tv. But felt it was so good i had to get in my phn and post this. Thank u so much guys. Paul and Todd, what do you think the best-case scenario for the Type S version of this car could be?
Listen I have an a spec and I’m 6’3 and I can’t complain about the space or the head room
Might not have wanted to cannibalize sales of the TLX type S by offering RDX Type S too soon after TLX launch.
they Type S is for the mdx
I love my TLX. But they need to put the naturally aspirated v6 back in the TLX as the standard engine.
I want to see the Type S. This 4 banger version vs the Kia Stinger, I would take the Stinger. Now, lets see the Type S and that may be a real competitor to the G70.
I love these new TLX. Looks good, has a nice interior and will be way more reliable than the German counterparts.
LOL. not. a chance. It's a super small car absolutely no room in that car.
I've been thinking about the Kia Stinger, CT5, 2016 Passat, and new Accord

I fking love Acura. They are marvelous vehicles. That being said, I feel that unlike Lexus, which feels distinct as a brand from Toyota, Acura still feels like Honda's experiment with luxury. This is not a dishonorable thing, but am I alone in this observation?
Not at all. I once owner a tL and I was always very aware I was in a Honda. Still loved it. But it was very Honda. Miss that car though.
Hi guys love the show , are you guys planning on doing a Honda Accord 2.0 review.

Believe it or not... this back seat is tighter than the Giulia!
@@TestDriveVideos Acura decided to give the Cadillac ATS (CT4) some competition cause it sells so well
On paper the Giulia has just 0.1 inches of more combined legroom than the TLX. But after sitting in both I'd say the TLX feels much bigger, probably due to the much larger shoulder room in the Acura.
Perfect for someone who rarely has anyone in the back seat anyway.
Better handling and safety isn't a toy, it's absolutely worth the extra 12k.

this dark silvery greyish color does the car no favors. This needs to be in brighter, exciting colors to accentuate the lines.
Sounds like this should have been a coupe or hatchback rather than a sedan. A modern take on the rsx with awd and turbocharged would have been better.
We hope you noticed how much we love the looks and dynamics here. The problems are elsewhere. Thanks for watching.
Too much complaining about interior size! When we get to performance fine but even then too much complaining about how uncomfortable you are, we get it the first time. It’s a sports sedan, isn’t that the compromise? If you want comfort go Lexus.

Lucky Im 5'6 guy and I wont have to complaining about small space....
Ranty Todd is my favorite Todd. 🤣
30% Review, 70% nitpicking. 😑
Yeah pretty much. It's a really nice car and a big step up for Acura. Could it have been better still? Sure. But it's so far superior to the previous Acura sedans
9:30 hey y’all did Paul sneak a pea in under Todd's seat?
You guys hit the nail on the head with the new TLX effectively having only 2 usable seats. Coming from an accord, this was a huge downgrade for me - so I had to go with another brand.
Just curious, why didn't you buy the RDX? Simular pricing and a huge back seat for people that are 6' 3".
@@nathanielcashjr.732 Crossovers aren't as fun to drive. Plus I wanted something with more HP.
Thank god the rear seats are smaller...good excuse to not take co workers to lunch. Its made for average height people like me (5'10). I dont have 4 6feet plus friends and a majority people dont either. You guys are overweight, not the cars fault.
G70 and Stinger smash it down with 3.3t that can be tuned to 430hp just with jb4 + decat and will give you really fun driving car.
@@TheBreakfastLover it’s not getting discontinued 😂😂
@@Tsand4 your reply will not age well, lol
@@TheBreakfastLover the fact still is the stinger is 10k less and a way better car. Like I said Acura took there shot n missed. They seemed confused making this car lol
@@Tsand4 and the old TLX outsold the Stinger and the new one has too. Why do you think the Stinger hasn't sold well? What went wrong?
Beautiful car
Your tall we get it. Car is good, just too expensive.
At 6'3 your in the 97.5 percentile for men so you're only talking about a very small portion of the population at the height or above. Also the trunk is only 13.5 ft³ even a civic has s larger trunk.
That Acura A in grill over a sticker looks idiotic. How can they release a car that looks that and ruin the front? Just like Genesis
It is small inside. Acura blew it. No head room and no legroom. I wanted to buy one but I test drove a 2022 and it's half the car my 2018 330 is. No thanks.
How could Honda give you so much room in the Accord and so little in the TLX?! 🤦🏼♂️
After I typed this you all started talking about the Accord 🤦🏼♂️😂
Because this generation TLX is a new platform that doesn't share a single piece of sheet metal with the Accord (according to Acura).
👍🏻 Acura
