You summed it up perfectly describing it as a "GT car." If everyone thought of it as a CL replacement and not a TL/TLX replacement it wouldn't get dinged so much when it's compared to the competition. I came from leasing a 2020 330i M-Sport into buying a TLX A-Spec (Honda reliability). My spouse hated getting in and out of the 3-series and it wasn't comfortable enough from him so we didn't drive it as much despite how much I loved that car and how sharp it was to drive among other things. Ultimately, we compromised and this car happened to be a nice middle ground. Checks the comfort box but also with the SH-AWD scratches the itch when it comes to the drive it's fun in its own unique way typical of most Honda products. They could've copied the 3-series formula like everyone else but didn't and I respect that about them being true to themseleves. But can you imagine the if the company that built the S2000 and NSX did? Guess we'll never know.. lol
Wow! Thanks for the detailed comment and feedback! Totally agree with you and I love hearing from honest owners that have tried other brands and models! Hope you’re enjoying the channel and come back for more 👍🏾
@@Drive_Culture I have more than one favorite actually: Digital gauges, larger infotainment screen, new grille, new wheel designs and the retuning of the transmission. All welcomed updates to the regular TLX.
i like the 2024 TLX A-Spec over the 2023. however, i like the 2023 TLX Type-S over the 2024... one thing i don't like about the Type-S(in general) is that it has that bracket between the trunk area, and the back seats. sometimes i need the space to haul long/wide items, and even with the back seat folded down, that bracket limits the width significantly.
Thanks for the comment & feedback! I totally get where you’re coming from! While I’m not suggesting you do this on your TLX Type S, but you could “un-bolt” the bracing if you really needed to do so for a trip, etc.
@@charliescharliethough it really would...if i liked SUVs, in which i don't. i've had 7 cars. all of which are 2 door coupes. jumping into a TLX is still on the fence for me, because i've never been crazy about sedans. now if Acura decided to make a TLX(or Integra) coupe...
@@xiaoxia5 fair enough. Coupes are fun and fast but generally not useful. The tlx type s definitely gives you that competitive speed sedan with space. The mdx is worth a test drive though.
I have a 21 Black Tech lease right now and had 2 TLX's (leased) before this one.... I love the car and was thinking of moving up to A-Spec for 24 for the main reason of hearing they insulated the cabin a lot more because my 21 right now seems so much louder on highways then my previous 6 cyl model. Does it seem quieter to you and thanks for a great review !!
Thanks for the detailed feedback! NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) is definitely improved in this 2024 refresh, especially on the A-Spec trim. I think if you were to take a test drive, it should be rather noticeable. Let us know if you pull the trigger!
I’m pretty sure the ASpec and Advance in 21 has thicker acoustic glass than the Tech/Base package. I actually thought the cabin felt good. It’s the road noise from the tires that the Japanese simply have trouble with. Interesting how much better the NVH might be now. Personally I like the previous wheels. I had a 21 Majestic Black Pearl ASpec SH-AWD and traded it in for an IS500 two months ago. I actually think this car is a big letdown with how heavy and clunky it feels. The body roll is quite significant and it just feels way too sluggish/bloated. Sport mode is a little better but it’s a horrendous gas guzzler then. For a 4 cyl it’s just nuts how bad it is at the pump. Again, it’s the weight. I’m getting nearly the same MPGs in my Lexus V8 lol. Build quality and chassis in the Lexus is much higher quality. Way more planted. Totally agree with the ELS. It’s excellent and definitely on par with the Mark Lev. The Mark Lev just has a little more power. I miss the ambient lighting but that’s about it. Nice review!
The grill redesign was needed. If they made 2024 TLX with a 2.5 liter 300hp base, or 3.3 liter 375hp+ on the Type-S with some reduced weight, then I'm interested a little more. Gotta ditch the touchpad like the RDX and make the map full screen.
This is a great review. I was fortunate enough to win a spot in the Integra Type S "lottery" back in May and picked my Majestic Black Pearl Type S up on Aug 1, 2023. It is an amazing car, way better than the 2021 FK8 CTR I traded in (imho). I think the only thing I would THINK about giving it up for is a modern RWD manual sporty sedan/coupe from Acura.
Thank you so much for the comment and feedback. What an awesome car you have! I’m absolutely loving mine too! Hopefully you’ll come back for more content!
Wow, that’s just crazy! Really too bad, have you actually engaged with those dealers and tried to work a deal? I know a lot of times they do that with the hope of scaring off out of state customers and non serious buyers. With such a large ADM, you’d be better shopping out of state and then shipping it to yourself.
When I see dealers like that, it's just pure malicious and greed intentions, some of them had laughable "negotiations"@@Drive_Culture . I want a Integra Type S to revive my GSR one back in the days. I was considering a TLX Type S but the car is too heavy and is in a weird spot for me in terms features -however gorgeous design. B58 M340i makes it hard to consider.
Thanks for this very detailed review. Great job! I love Acura, but they’ve made some very curious decisions with the 2024 TLX. For example, why isn’t there an A Spec w/ Advance or Technology package that throws in power folding mirrors, heated steering wheel, etc? And then there’s the elephant in the room: still no touchscreen. Personally, I’ve used the touchpad and it’s really not that bad, but from a marketing perspective, I cannot wrap my head around why Acura would go as far as sticking a larger screen in the TLX (great job), but stop short of making it a touchscreen?? This becomes a glaring omission when you consider the updated MDX was revealed very recently and it has the same 12.3 inch screen, but they’ve moved it closer to the driver and made it a touchscreen! I’m sure the MDX is what most people buy and is the real moneymaker for Acura, but why not give the same treatment to the TLX?
Wow! Thanks for the comment & feedback! Glad you enjoy the content, let us know what other cars you’d like to see here. As for TLX, good points all across. This channel isn’t affiliated with Acura, but you gotta imagine that the MDX is their volume vehicle, so it’s always easier to add more content while still keeping costs in check.
So, I'm 5'11" and I like my space. I also currently own a 2018 Honda accord 1.5T ( try not to laugh) 😅. Anyway, that being said I've been going back and fourth for years on what to get next but from Acura. I want more power and luxury so I thought "TYPE S" right? Now paying attention to the specs and what I drive now. The aspec seems perfect for me. I'm just concerned with the space at this point. S/N also concerned with the seats, I've seen one other review that the seats crumble after only a year! 😮 yikes! For that much money? Come on
Thanks for the comment and feedback! We’re about the same height and you’ll fit fine both in the front and back. I will say that the backseat is a lot smaller than your Accord though, and if you’re gonna have small kids or adults always in the back of the TLX, it may be cramped a bit. Yeah the A-Spec trim seems like a great step up for you, unless you really want to go all in on the Type S. Lastly, I haven’t heard of the seats falling apart, but I’m sure that’s on how people use / take care of the car.
@@Drive_Cultureyou may actually have a point there about how people take care of their car. The review came from at least I could tell some rich kid in Cali. Your review was excellent! Thank you!
Just leased a white one! It is my 4th Acura. 3rd TLX. My first Acura (TL) saved my life in a head on collision. These cars are so underrated and so under promoted in m opinion.
Love the updates to the TLX, but it feels like Acura fell a little short. The center stack / infotainment needs an update!! Just like how the 2025 MDX is switching to a touch screen, the same needs to be implemented for the TLX. The true touch interface needs to go! Only other complaint would be the size of the interior cabin space and lack of heated rear seats in the TypeS. Everything else about the car is great!
Thanks a lot for the comment & detailed feedback! The touchpad interface has fans, but there’s definitely some that just want a touchscreen. I’ll be curious to see the response once the MDX changes its interface.

I want to go Teggy Type S but the dealer mark ups are disgusting. Dealers have really ruined getting Type R or Type S variants.
