  • it's not even 2024 yet and I've already changed planners??
    In this video I am going to explain why planner hopping is encouraged and how to figure out if your planner works for you. Originally, I was going to move into my Hobonichi HON for 2024 but the more that I've used it these past few weeks, the more stressed out I was becoming. Finding the root of the issue is the hardest part and once I found out what was wrong, making the switch back to my Hobonichi Cousin was an easy decision! My hopes are that this video shows you how to find the best planner and what routines need to be included in order for your notebook you work functionally. Choosing a planner for 2024 made simple!
    I am happy you're here, thank you for watching!

    the 'being bored' explanation actually makes a lot of sense for me! I've hopped a lot, but always come back to one specific planner/journal, so I'm starting to think I get bored instead of it not working for me! :O Thanks for sharing, it really helped! :D

      As someone who gets notoriously bored I completely understand this! It is really tough but I think experimenting and checking in with myself has really helped. Thank you for being here!

    I am switching this year from Happy Planner to hobonichi cousin. I loved the flexibility of the Happy Planner but i got lost in the sauce with the stickers and less on functionality. And i think me being indecisive with the disc bound actually hurt me keeping a system. The cousin already had all the layouts i would need together and its bound and the size is what I needed. Hoping this hop after 3-4 years goes well

    • @torionpaper
      @torionpaper  10 месяцев назад +2

      I tried disc bound as well and could not make it work! I think bounded books definitely help with the overall comfort and accessibility of a book. I hope your hop goes well too!

    I just found your channel love!!🧡
    You explained this so well thank you!
    This is exactly why I did not get a HON this year and stuck with the ''regular'' cousin, even though not getting the art cover pained me (lol)🙄 but if there is one thing I know it's that the flexibility of my cover is a must!

    Great video! As a fellow impulsive Aries, I’ve felt the itch to hop many times. I’ve (usually lol) managed to resist, but this video will come in super handy next time I feel the urge - turns out I’m usually just bored! 😅
    Also know exactly what you mean about the feel/flexibility of the Cousin being great - I’d considered switching to a HON but the rigidity put me off!

    • @torionpaper
      @torionpaper  10 месяцев назад +1

      oh my gosh I feel so validated by this comment especially from another Aries.
      I didn't think the rigidity would be a issue but I was BIG wrong lol. Thank you always for being here

    I totally get what you said about the Hon! I spent months planning to get it and jumped on the same one that you have in your video. After it arrived, I also had the same reaction. Can't flip the pages in the same way as the regular Cousin. It just didn't feel right in my hands. I really agonized over this for weeks. Lol. Anyway, I saw someone else using the Cousin as their commonplace planner so I decided to use the Hon for that and it seems to be perfect for it! I ordered another cousin (regular cardstock cover) and I feel much better about my planner now!

    • @torionpaper
      @torionpaper  10 месяцев назад +1

      It's like we are the same person! I went through the exact same thing and it is so reassuring to know that I'm not the only one. A commonplace planner sounds like a wonderful alternative. It is so pretty I have thought about just displaying it as a coffee table book lol

      YES. It’s actually crazy how much money we’re spending on something that can be done with just a pen and notebook.

      It's definitely something I think is worth having a conversation about! Once I can articulate my thoughts/insights I would love to make a video for it and maybe some tips on how to not get sucked into it.

    I bought the same Hon 2024, I did not realize that the OG Cousins could bend so beautifully.. I will stay w The Hon, but will probably move to the OG Cousins in 2025, if I stay w a planner at all. This is my first year for using a planner. Color variety is important. Paper quality is a non negotiable as a fountain pen user. I had no idea that there was a Spring start year.. Cool vid..

    For me the Hobonichi is a bit too expensive to planner hop. I'm new to Hobonichi and I tried it out beforehand (copying layout in old bullet journal). But if it still turns out a bad fit anyway, I will have to use it till the end of 2024. Well, if it ever arrives that is. It's been stuck at customs now for 4 days 😒

    I felt this so hard! I’m an Aries and I get so bored so easily. And the impulsiveness gets ridiculous sometimes. I’m to the point of just wanting a stalogy and plan as I go and switch up layouts whenever! 😂🤣

    Thanks for the video, Tori! As a first-time Hobonichi user, (starting from 2024) I don't know how the book will work for me yet, but I love how it feels and even sounds. I've been bullet journaling since 2017, and setting up spreads just wasn't working for me anymore.
    Anyways, I have a question about the clear cover. I got an A5 Midori clear cover, which fits the Hobonichi A5 but is quite tight, I'd say. Is that how it's supposed to be?

    • @torionpaper
      @torionpaper  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you so much! This is so exciting I hope it goes well for you! I definitely think the sound and feel of Hobonichi paper is superior for those very reasons. I tried bullet journaling to and could just not get it to stick.
      Hmm strange, when I purchased mine it felt snug but not tight.. you could set your book in the sun so the plastic could heat up and stretch a little. Here is the link to the one I purchased that fits good if you want to compare.

    I want to start listography journal (mixed lists about me, my life, what I like, what I don't etc.) but I have analysis paralysis for 2 years now, because I don't know what type of journal I like... One day I think it should be soft cover, another day that it should be definitely hard cover, one day that it should has lines, another that it have to be blank pages, A5, A6, traveler's passport size or maybe ring bound... I know, I will have that journal for a decade or longer, that is why it should be perfect... Pathetic.

    I was wondering how you like the cousin with the hardback cover. I loved the hard cover so I just ordered my first hobonichi, so I don't know what the other cover feels like. I am wondering what is your experience. I am also intrigued with the weeks. Most people who have one seem to write really small. I have medium handwriting so was wondering if there is much space for many to do's? I love the note page that comes with the weekly.

    • @torionpaper
      @torionpaper  6 месяцев назад

      The HON is truly SO beautiful and I love the canvas like feel of the cover, I mentioned in other reply but I realized I missed being able to bend and flex my front cover which is what ultimately lead me to go back to my cousin but if you have never felt the original cover then you may use the HON just fine! You will definitely have to update me and let me know how you like it.
      I love the weeks, I think you could definitely make it work with medium size handwriting especially on the weekly note page. I've personally never had an issue of fitting my to-dos in my week but depending where you write your to-do's in the weekly format I think you can make it work :)
