[NOTE: You can also hear this fanfare of mine in the movie, "The Dresser" (2015), starring Anthony Hopkins and Ian McKellen. • The Dresser | Official... ]
This is an example of one of the fanfares that I play on the herald trumpet before a grand entrance occurs. I often play this fanfare (and similar ones) before the bride enters at a wedding. I have also played these types of fanfares before entrances or keynote speeches of various celebrities, including movie stars, television stars, theatrical stars, featured celebrity musical guests, U.S. presidents, corporate presidents and CEOs.
But, since anyone can hire me, I have also played entrance fanfares for many non-celebrities, such as for the arrival of guests at private parties or for a special guest of honor who is being celebrated or is having a celebration.
These types of fanfares are not only great for announcing people, but also work well for announcing grand openings, new products, new advertising campaigns, corporate banquets and meetings, special events, special sales, etc., and I have performed fanfares for these types of events many times.
Although I most often perform as a solo heralding trumpeteer, sometimes clients prefer to hire two herald trumpeteers for an even grander and an even richer-sounding effect. (I once even performed at an event with an ensemble of eight herald trumpeteers.)
Royal trumpet fanfares are not just for royalty--they are for anyone who wants to make a grand entrance that has real impact, leaving a lasting memory and unique impression on those who are in attendance. Видеоклипы
I'm hiring this guy for my next job interview
Playing it every Friday once entering the office.
Really good one!
I don't have sheet music for this, but if you hire a professional trumpet player for your wedding, tell them to watch this video and they should be able to figure it out and play this fanfare for you. Best wishes on the upcoming wedding!
My new alarm sound.
No sheet music is available for it at the present time. However, I do hope to soon publish this and many of my other trumpet arrangements on the Shop page of my website (including some items that will be available there for free as well.) I've been a little distracted from this goal lately, as I have been busy working on writing music for a couple of film scores in recent weeks. Keep checking my website, though. I hope to have lots of new stuff there some time this summer.
That's true; the center of gravity is out so far that your arms do get tired rather quickly, especially if you don't play the herald trumpet often. And, as you said, the banner (that is what it is called) does add even more weight to the instrument!
LOL!!! Great idea! But then I need another trumpet player to follow me around and do that for me also. Interesting historical fact: Henry VIII had 27 trumpet players who followed him around everywhere, doing this sort of thing for him.
Love this! Convinces me that if I were to look out my window, I'd be sure to see a royal carriage coming.
A herald is someone who announces or introduces something or something. Herald trumpets are the long type of trumpets used for playing fanfares to announce the arrival of someone (or something) important.
Yes, this is my own composition, inspired by the many fanfares that I have heard and played over the years, and also inspired by the trumpet fanfares in all of those old "sword and sandals" movies.
Yes, I wrote this little fanfare myself. Glad that you like it!
Good choice. The Bach Bb is my preferred instrument too, most of the time. And, it doesn't make my arms as tired as the herald trumpet does!
I need you to follow me around and play your little thing before I say anything. It will make me appear much more important.
Thank you! I'm glad that you like it.
WOW, I thought this was an actual renaissance era tune written around the year 1600. Excellent job!
They actually weigh about the same as a regular Bb trumpet. However, because so much of the weight is sticking out far away from your body when you play it, it feels much heavier.
The Bach Strad is a great instrument too!
thanks for helping me with my homework!
great piece of music
You're welcome, Leah. Glad you like it!
great and precise!
The valveless fanfare trumpets are fine if all you want to play is bugle call-type fanfares that use only notes from the harmonic series. If you want chromatics or if you want to play in different keys, you'll need valves.
Wonderfully done. I'd love to use something like this into some of my mixes.
Only 15th centurt kids will remember.
Our new beer pong anthem. Keep up the good work Randy
thanks a lot
I'm hoping to publish this soon and then post it on my website. I'll let you know when that happens.
Excellent! That will make them feel important and appreciated, for sure.
this is the most beautiful song i heard i cant believe my ears
It would be my honor!
This is especially helpful for my Shakespeare project, thank you!
+Luigi Glad that was helpful, Luigi. Speaking of Shakespeare, I played this same fanfare for a new movie,The Dresser (2015), where it's used for King Lear's (Anthony Hopkins) entrance onto the stage. I play it a couple of times in that movie, which will premiere in the USA on Starz movie channel next month (on May 30, 2016.) It already premiered in the UK in late 2015 on BBC-Two TV. The movie also stars Ian McKellan. Best wishes!
You're Welcome!
I play this for entrance or just to wake up
We have this Fanfare in our school project about Biceps thanks for you do this video
Those look cool, I 've always wanted to play one of those. But I'll stick to my bach.
I like it! The only heralding trumpet (which is what I presumed it was at the time) that I have ever played had no valves, so would that make it a form of bugle?
Amazing
thank you for doing this i have a project on hammurabi and cuz he's the king of the mesopotamian era your trumpets put it to the point that he's royalty. thanks
I don't know if you will respond but this was so helpful for a school play that my class are putting on i could not find any thing good for the entrance of the king thanks!
+Stephen Flannery Glad you found it useful for that purpose. That fanfare of mine has been used for the entrances of many "kings" (including King Lear--Anthony Hopkins--in the 2015 movie, "The Dresser"), as well as for lots of queens, celebrities, stars, guests of honor, political leaders, etc.
One day, if I can ever find the time in my very busy schedule, I might have to actually print this out!
Hey, what is your opinion of valveless fanfare trumpets? I am considering buying one and would be extremely grateful to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
Hey, do you use a fanfare trumpet without valves? I understand that more notes are available with valves, but i am considering buying a fanfare trumpet and would be very grateful to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
That's a great idea! I need to record it onto my alarm clock also.
(See reply below.)
Dear Randy-
Glorious! I have been sharing your fanfare with all my Facebook friends, and whenever an old friend returns to our home town, NYC, my better half and I always send him/her this link.
Happy New Year, and Rule Britannia! :)
Nice!
Randy Dunn
:)
this is sweet
short and classy! bravo
lol thanks!
Great work, Randy! Is it possible to use the sound of this clip on a educational video project?
O jaka ładna trombka
I own a company called Castle Gate Realty - I would love to have this play whenever someone enters my office!
Nice!
And bravo on the background. I can't think of a finer place to play a fanfare, except maybe on top of that little tower there.
Weddings are mainly what I use this fanfare for, but sometimes also for corporate banquets, product launches, big party entrances, etc.
No, I don't have it available for download yet, unfortunately. Hopefully one day, when I can finally find the time!
0:10 The moment when you get a new girlfriend :D
What manufacturer do you prefer for herald trumpets?
I'm playing a Blessing brand herald trumpet in this video, which is a pretty good one. Herald trumpets are used mainly for their appearance, though, so extremely high quality is not as important as it is on a concert instrument that you would play on more often.
wow this is amazing! if you dont mind, can i use it to the opening scene of my major work for my final year in school? i'll do royalties :)
@stewis1994 Yes, that's a fanfare that I made up, based on hearing and playing lots and lots of fanfares over many years!
cool☺
Hi! Do you mind if i use this audio in a small play i'm doing at school?
No, I don't mind--Have a grand entrance! : )
Do you have the notes for this entrance ? Would like to play this. Please help. .
cutie pie No sheet music yet for it, but maybe one day.... If you play the trumpet though, you can probably figure it out by ear by trial and error fairly easily, since it's not very long. Good luck with it!
Jane, send me the piece you are talking about, or a link to it, etc., and I'll be glad to help you figure out what it is. (Odds are good that I know it.)
What are those symbols on the Trumpet flag? I know it, but I am not sure what it is...
Okay, I usually hate getting out of bed but if you play that every morning I would be delighted too!
Do you have the sheet music for this piece by any chance? Would love to use it for our 30th Birthday Celebration Opening...?
No sheet music for this yet, but hopefully at some point in the future, if I can ever find the time.
wow nice your a good player by the why i play a littel trumpet my self well im not that good but leaning and our ban has to play that song on a school assembily so wish me luck :)
Beautiful! What make/ model of herald trumpet are you playing?
Would have been amazing if he played the Austin Powers theme at the end
Gratzi!
thx
I play this every time my girlfriend makes me dinner and brings it over to me!
LOL. If only it could be played when the trumpeter walks into the room also!
gud
At ye olde royal trumpet store (requires a time machine, set to Renaissance.) No, actually you can order a herald trumpet from just about any music store. But they are usually not kept in stock and have to be special ordered, since so few people use them.
You get the award for best comment!
I have a piece of music that is driving me crazy. For lack of a better choice, I call it simply "Royal Fanfare." I listen to it every day. I have friends in London who are familiar with the music, but no one seems to know the name of it. Would you be interested in helping me figure this out?
Yes, they do make a similar instrument with no valves that is played like a bugle.
would i get away with using a normal b flat trumpet for that?
Sure--I play it on regular Bb trumpet sometimes also.
Maybe I could find a less ordinary-looking trumpet to play this on?
where do you get the royal trumpet?
Very nice indeed, but, what does a herald have to do with a trumpet? A herald may hire a trumpeter but I guess but they do not play them - ever. The college of Heralds (no, not a school) and Heralds themselves have nothing what-so-ever to do with music.
I want a flag baner thing.....
I keep this pinned to the top of my tab bar in Chrome so that I can play it when people walk into work in the morning.
i play this when i step out of the toilet.
Better make sure and try to keep it clean. Some other commenter says this is better than porn, so it may be difficult. : )
When an optometrist enters the room. This trumpet is played.
That would be a royal flush.

that was realy good but u need your own specel way 2 play it
Johnnyk427,
There's a business opportunity here... make each customer feel special, relevant and important when you announce their arrival like royalty. You've go t a lot of likes and and no dislikes with this comment. You're on to something.
Now, if we could only make Randy Dunn "virtually" everywhere (RUclips is a good start), we'd have fewer depressed people.
EzPL8.com lets people carry around a personalized license plate that acts as an RFID herald.
Unless thou hath capital losses to report, and/or if thou hath tax-sheltered investments in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, or a Swiss bank account. :)
That's a Blessing herald trumpet (they only have one model.) It's a good instrument too.
