my god, Robert is such a good talker, i could listen to him for hours..🙂
Me too- miss him posting videos
@@bowtieless you having the same last name i had to double take to see if he was talking about himself lol
True.
Yes good to see Robert back ! Sorry Micha, but Robert was the reason to click that video. Less influencer bullshit more pro 😉
Couse his great knowledge
Don't get me wrong I love the driving videos a LOT, but there's just something about the misha and Robert talking videos I love
Got bored with the driving videos.Need more Robert on the channel
Fascinating that you doubled the G80 brake lifespan with that custom passive cooling.
He was talking about the F80 there.. and not the G80
@@DECKEDM Rewatch it, perhaps. From about 7:30
@@DECKEDM
He wasn’t
Good to see Robert again Misha, didn't know he was in an accident, glad he is well now! More Robert vids requested!!!
Pretty sure you covered this well before, with the cost and supply being a no go...didn't know about the custom brake cooling system George made up...very cool!!!
Every M3/M4 has this in common: People think the previous one was superior, yet when the new one comes out the hated model suddenly becomes the halo car for a while.
yeah kinda true with BMW
Kinda true. But this time they soften up a bit on the transmission. It’s more usable for 90% of drivers but for the track the double clutch just have the edge in feeling and response. There is a reason for Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche etc to use them. Now to get a double clutch transmission you have to get a 200k car, not an 80k anymore.
The G80 has a better engine, better interior, handles very well; I personally like the looks of it, but it’s a bit more “AMG” and less “track friendly” than the F80.
Just traded my m2cs in manual for the new 2023 m3 the first few day I had really bad buyers remorse but now I’m absolutely in love with my new car and only sometimes I miss my m2…. But fortunately for me I have a 992 gt3 to itch my manual needs!
Haha so true I’ll never forget how hated the E92 was when it came out, now it’s the holy grail apparently… Absolutely not the M3 is not an M3 without a straight 6 turbos or not.
@@shawnwaheed206 Yeah I get the Inline-6 craze with BMW's, but the least M cars had one. Most were V8's. I don't care - for me an M car is a crazy fast good driving car, no matter what drives it.
Your discussion on parts lead time is so on point. I just waited 5 weeks (I'm near Chicago, in the US) for an OEM replacement windshield from BMW, for my F80 M3, because I had a rock chip that was right in front of, and thus affecting the ConnectedDrive cameras and sensors... It's insane right now. I'm looking to upgrade to the G80, but hearing stuff like this from everywhere makes want to wait a little bit. Keep up the good work Misha and Robert!
I mean the parts issue is worldwide and for almost all brands these days, the car has its positives and negatives but it surely drives better than the last gen , if you don't care about exterior design that much then go for the g80
I just got a OEM replacement for my F82 M4. Made my appointment had them look at the windshield approve a replacement and insurance paid for. I asked how many they had in stock they said 5 🤷♂️ idk covid time is weird.
In new soviet russia we do not have parts since recently
@@YourAssAintSafe Where are you located? I'm in a smallish college town in Northern Indiana, I suppose I could've driven to Indy or Chicago to get it done but I couldn't take a whole day out of the office just to get my windshield replaced. Also I wonder if the F82 and F80 have the same windshield?? My guess is no. I have a Mineral White over Cohiba Brown Individual Comp Pack btw.
Parts prices are going up and are really hard to get nowadays. I was waiting for 2 months for top shock mounts for E32. Yeah, it's a classic car but these were available right away even a year ago. I don't even wanna mention anything related to my E90... Can't imagine what it's like for new car like G80.
Good to see Robert doing well 👍
I love the F80, but also I have started to love the G80, I would love to see the G80 back on track in 2 years when the supply issues have been solved and new upgraded parts are available from Schirmer and some other spicy mods.
Very very interesting video, well explained and I have to say it on this point: I really really miss Robert's videos on YT because he is so good in explaining. I could listen to him for hours.
The F80 is such a great car, the sound, drivability everything….never gonna sell mine i think 😛 thank for the vid!
Great to see Robert, talking cars, talking business, talking sense
I'm a simple man, I saw Robert, I clicked. 😂
Jokes aside, great video, my favorite type on your channel when you and Robert break down and explain about things.
I've been watching and following since 2019 but isn't as frequently lately because finally moved to Germany and there are so much things in life right now so simply there isn't time. But definitely a step closer to making the Ring dream and meeting you guys. Hopefully soon. 🤞🏼
I love to hear the business POV of running a car on the Nürburgring. It's very inspiring to hear how you guys are always concerned about downtime on cars (because that effectively disables your business to run) and how you guys are building the needed inventory to keep the cars running for one year in advance (considering there isn't a crash). Most people would consider it expensive to change out the brakes on their personal cars once, but having to stack a decade worth of brake changes from trackuse just places it all into a whole different ballpark in price. So judged by that if you were allowed to swap out Taxis you'd probably have 2 or 3 mostly identical spares I'm assuming. It's truly unreal but that's what is needed to reliably run at the level you are running at, so thank you very much for sharing.
It is like any equipment oriented business. Maximise time that the asset is available for use and maximise utilisation of that available time. Minimise non-revenue utilised time. Minimise cost per operating hour (brakes, tyres, fuel etc).
You cant really compare the two. One of them was a built race car, the other one is an oem spec street car. F80 was much more fun for the driver and passengers too. I still remember the diff whine, even the small stones hitting the wheel arches, the process to get race harness and helmet on made it special for sure. See you this autumn or next spring (maybe both). TIER1 gang
Thank you Misha. Great insights provided, especially the wear details on parts and stocking up on spares in order to be able to run a car. Cool to have this garage talk with Robert!
Love the video…amazing information. You and Robert are the best and keep my passion fueled. Keep killing it guys. Miss your videos btw Robert. (Glad to hear you healed from accident Robert)
Would love a Left-foot braking video Robert or Misha…(if not already made), and how to get better with it in techniques/practice. I do understand it really comes all down to practice time with left foot braking but any tips would be awesome!
@@GrabberSmurf misha has a video about that: ruclips.net/video/Aa4rIFQx1tg/видео.html
Great video. As a G82 owner, I can totally relate to the wheel issue. I actually found a company in Canada - Super Speed wheels that has relatively inexpensive, but still performance oriented wheels that are a stock fit for the car. I bought the SRF05RR Matte Black in 19x9.5 +25, 5x112, 66.6CB (square setup) as a winter set, but they sell the appropriate OEM staggered set as well. They were under $300 CAD each (before HST). It doesn't solve the issue with any of the other parts, but hopefully it helps someone out there!
Just a tip there for your general driveshaft discussuion, generally when you see this kind of failures its due to the grease not being up to spec, try swapping for crytox or slick 50 for better driveshaft longevity! :)
GKN Motorsport grease works too.
That's what I've heard about people who bought G80 with a full service package, went to dealership because brake pads worn out - they were waiting weeks/months to get their car back, because there was no brake pads :P
Crazy
The f80 is going to be a timeless piece of engineering.
Wow Robert, what a great surprise. Sadly haven’t seen much from him recently I hope he puts more content out soon
So great to hear about these details and business decisions.
The impact of cooling on the brakes regarding lifetime is impressive
just bought an very low mileage individual f80. For just a bit more could have went G80...just couldn't stomach the awful looks and "hugeness" of the G....very interesting data here.
Good to see you both and good to hear and see Robert on the mend. Always interesting to hear what is involved in running a car as a Taxi and the business of doing that.
The G80 is the best all-around car. Absolutely love mine.
Glad to see Robert in the video again.
Long time no see .
I don’t track my G80, but it’s the best daily I’ve had. (Comparing to s63c, c63, g63c Macan) Especially with a few mods. It’s a beast. Sad to see it go!
How are the brake pads life with on road driving.
Good to see Robert again. It's been a while.
So glad you’re keeping the Schirmer F80 instead 🫶
Did you have brake cooling on the F80? Apples with apples. As always great open and honest discussion on running the lap taxi business - from Misha keeping it on the road to Robert keeping them ALL on the road!
Hey man. Yep f80 has had brake cooling since day one
@@RobertMitchellHow and where did you get the Endless pads for G80? Is it the same as F87 M2C 6 piston ones?
I really like hearing Robert and Misha talking about APEX as a business as well as the engineering.
gud to c Robert again. its very cool wen Misha n Robert chat bout all things cars n different topics of interest.
Robert the Unicorn! Always lovely to see him again. Great Video!
There is something inside of me that dislikes heavy cars and I just can not come over the design. Regardless you have to see it rational at some point so your video was very informativ. Thanks to both of you!
Unfortunately with todays safety’s we’re going to continue getting 4000Lb cars
I wish manufacturers would make simpler lighter cars, I understand why that isn't feasible.
Ahhh, I see Robert still got some spray on Tier 1 tan.
It’s part of my brand deal requirements. can’t be the pale faced ambassador of spray tan….
Golly Gee Wilikers, have I been missing Robert! Nice video as always.
Thanks for the info!
Interesting insight into the G80. Regarding the mileage, 10L/100 km cruising is impressive!
Love the driving videos, but there is something about the more technical ones I love as well, especially if you collaborate with Robert, good to see him back again and looking healthy.
Thanks again Misha.
Robert needs to start uploading videos again!
Im a big fan of you guyses saftey philosophy. So important to have your car in good running order on a track
Robert has been away closing tier 1 brand deals
F80‘s are increasing in price for sure. Since I’m driving a F87 I’m pretty excited about how the G87 will be in comparison
still think the front end is gorgeous but the rest of the reasons make SO mUCH sense
thx 4 sharing
Tell Robert to get back on RUclips
I got to say that the G82 is growing on me because of the performance and I also keep seejng a black one at work (it hides the grill very well). But I decided on a C63s in the beginning of the year as I was disapointed by BMW and I couldn't be happier. My god, the noise it makes is insane :)
These garage videos are pretty interesting to watch
Great insight, gents, thanks!
Roberto, looking svelt! 👏🏼👏🏼
Whose that chap wearing the glasses with the black T-shirt? :P Good to see you again Robert.
Been waiting for this video & awesome to see Robert again, Rj in Oz
I do like the G80 way more than the F80 as a daily driver and around the track, but that's how different opinions can be
So the only issue with the new M3 is that is a new platform and supply chain issues ? Also Robert fantastic transformation ! Also such brake cooling solution is very popular with the Mustang owners but I didn’t know it’s that effective. Thanks for the data.
The brake cooling mod is also standard if you build an bmw e36 or e46 tracktool
I have to say that I would be really confident to buy a car from you. Even if they are driven hard on the ring, you take care of them better then most car enthusiast. You are transparent over everything and it creates a trustworthy relationship between you and your audience !
Finally mechanic vids are back. Just missing the goat George
"You can't lie to a tyre" ... A great line!
I love these type of videos about as much as the track ones! Very informative especially regarding the brakes and brake cooling > extra life from brakes. Thanks Misha and Robert!
Happy I caught a lap in the G80 back in June, looking forward to the F80 in a couple of weeks.
Everyone hates the looks of these. I don't. I think it's different and really enjoy it.
This is great Insight and content!! Please more videos like this, tells you a ton about the car!!
Will that guy on the left have a youtube-channel soon? I would like him explaining things. ;-)
Hate to be that guy, but the Brake Cooling kit is actually from a company called Speed Engineering out of Germany.
Interesting to hear that running costs on the G80 are lower then on f80. Is that because the f80 is so heavily modified compared to the g80 or were you comparing the costs in general
It left me questioning too.. In the beginning and months before video they said that everything so bad with the car as taxi (turns out to be only drive shafts), later in the video: G80 running costs lower than F80.. And then G80 is for sale, because very high running costs 🤔
@@skrypka the car needs to be used every day to make a profit if not and a loss.
@@skrypka it’s not for sale due to running costs but due to lead times on parts. G80 def cheaper to to run than the F80 of supply chain is in tact. With a broken supply chain the g80 ends up with costly downtime that makes it more expensive due to lack of operations, Refunds etc.
@@RobertMitchell thank you for the explenation. I was so Sure that a heavier Car must also be more expensive regarding running costs. Apparently I was mistaken.
@@RobertMitchell Thank you. Now it's clear and makes a lot of sense. Good to hear at least brakes (except pads) are on another level this time compared to previous gen cars. Great video, thanks!
This video is gold. Awesome info, thanks guys. Subbed.
Sounds like running cost would be insane. 30 laps in a day and tires are poop after 50 laps. that's not even a full busy weekend. brakes going for 100 laps that every 3 days. not even 2 weekends worth ouch. And the rest must get destroyed with the curbing. I'd be running quickly.
its not that they offer these rides for free lol
personal opinion, but the front end has grown on me so much, to the point where i think the g82 is one of the prettiest cars in production as of recent and is definitely on the list of reasonable dream cars. Tbf i also think the c8 is one of the ugliest and ik that's a very unpopular opinion so maybe i'm just weird 😅
Very insightful, especially on the carbon breaks part
Great to see you together at last!
about time Robert got back on here, bloody skiver lol
You guys could do a podcast and I'd willingly lose track of time just listening to you two talk about cars and the 'Ring.
This duo. Nürburgkings. 🤘
Love these videos. So interesting seing how tough cars are under these extreme circumstances. Would be fun to see how 'normal' cars survive. Better than any reliability survey 🤣
Maybe a couple years down the road we can see a Team Schirmer G80, that would be sick!
Very professional talk..Well done guys
Yay Robert is back! We missed you Robert!
Love the information. Should do more like this . And the amount of money it costs for people who want to run there own taxi
Robert, sell the Polestar keep the G80 as a daily. Sure the Polestar is cheaper to run (for now, with the rising cost of electricity that tends to diminish very rapidly),but that is the only good thing about it. Plus from what i read in the forums P2 is really plagued by software issues. 2.2 version is really bad, many people complain about basic functions glitches.
10L/100km in 500+hp M3?? That's unbelievable!!!
My 1.4 160hp Golf drinks 9.5 in city...
I managed 7,3 over an 80km long and rather calm little trip. The effiicieny the g80 is truly insane. It’s The xDrive version as well.
12,5 is my overall average consumption since new so that is of course more reflective of what it consumes if you drive is more spirited.
Please do a review on the schirmer f87 m2 with Robert!
Misha is a savage wearing that shirt right after that Aventador S video 😂😂😂😂😂
Love the tech talk. Thanks!
So basically the G80 is fantastic, there are just no spare parts yet.
Sounds like an amazing car with low running costs. Only thing I’m wondering is why sell the car and not wait the shortage is away and get it back in the fleet?
Has that to do with swapping cars as taxies? Didn’t understand that fully in the video sorry.
Great to have Robert back! Negroni time!
Time to get a Giulia Q. Enough parts available, not to much weight and a much more enthusiastic drive train
i see robert, i press like
Maybe the G80 could be interesting in 2024 when team shirmer have a full kinetics option and mor shelve aftermarket options for parts.
Never liked the car due to his looks, but 2 months ago me and my friends went on a taxi lap with you guys and loved it.
@Misha Charoudin where can I get that lovely tshirt? xD
I got it from a fan
I was approached by a bmw sales woman and asked me if I'd like to trade my f32 for the g80 m3. I was intrigued at first but got disinterested due to its face. Months went and that face makes a feeling on me. Looking through the usual hyped up reviews on RUclips but nothing hits the information tank needs as much as this one. Might hunting for one after this as this video gives plenty of advice for future mods. Thx Robert and Misha
4:38 Is the main reason to run the BBS wheels for aesthetic and not performance reasons? A barrel a week or even two is crazy.
Older for me is better. M3 e 92 was the last proper bmw m car.
This Robert guy seems like he'd be a good fit at Apex. Nice to see the new employees in videos.
I’m still in my test phase hope they keep me around
@@RobertMitchell Keeping our fingers crossed for you Robert, lol
Some gold information in there, especially on the longevity benefits of brake cooling. Funny coincidence, few days ago I just ordered discs with painted markers on the sides that tell you which temperature the discs reach. Very curious to find out, since my car, like basically all of them except the purely track oriented ones, doesn't come with dedicated brake cooling.
Who’s the new guy?
Robert sounds like the artist from "The Joy's Of Painting" 😁
Great Video Rob and Misha Greetings from Kaiserslautern
BY THE WAY Misha that t shirt is hilarious!!!! :D
Good job guys. Very informative.
I prefer the g80 all day, I have owned both cars. The g80 platform is so much better. I don't miss anything about the f80.. just my opinion 🤷
Nice T-shirt 👍
Good to see Blipshift t-shirts being worn in Germany
Very nice video! It’s not the same buying an sports car for the track instead of the daily use. This M3 will be throttled to the bottom every single day of its life.
Still a win situation, love both cars 😍
