Yeah that's a problem with some movies instead of focusing on making a good movie. There are to focused on either setting up for sequels or setting up for their own Cinematic Universe.
*Cast of Marvel's Madame Web (2024)* 🕸 Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb Sydney Sweeney as Julia Cornwall Isabela Moner Merced as Anya Corazon Mike Epps as O'Neil Adam Paul Scott as Ben Parker
The problem with Spider-Man’s supporting cast is that they’re, well, supporting cast. There’s a reason why many of them haven’t had solo comic runs, and the ones that have didn’t last very long. That being said it is not impossible to do a spinoff series with side characters, but it’s either got to be really good or really weird, I.e. Guardians of the Galaxy.
I just found out yesterday that there is a rerelease of DUNE right now in my area. There are 2 IMAX screens in my area. I was excited I get to see Dune in IMAX. Noooooo...Madame Web is slated for IMAX presentation. 😖

As soon as you said that, I knew that this movie would be a series of images flashed in rapid succession for 90 minutes or more!
The weird thing about the trailers is that they took the Ezekiel character and pretty much just made him into Morlun. Even the premise of the movie feels like it was supposed to be a Final Destination but with a serial killer instead of Death, only to be turned into a Madame Web movie for no apparent reason.
I watched it yesterday with my brother who has some health issues. It was fun hanging out with him even if we both didn't like the movie. Your review was spot on Dan!
Dan. I'm a big fan, I have a question. you gave The Marvels a low rating of Stay Away, and Madame Web, you gave it a rating Not A Fan!. So I was wondering if Madame Web was a better movie for you than The Marvels?.could you explain
thx Dan
Ghostbusters 2016 is now looking like a masterpiece
And I don't drink Pepsi
No.
This is much better than that.
I’m wondering, maybe it was a regular movie with ready script that they repurposed as spider man movie, like transformers:Merlin edition.
Yeah that's a problem with some movies instead of focusing on making a good movie. There are to focused on either setting up for sequels or setting up for their own Cinematic Universe.
*Cast of Marvel's Madame Web (2024)* 🕸
Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb
Sydney Sweeney as Julia Cornwall
Isabela Moner Merced as Anya Corazon
Mike Epps as O'Neil
Adam Paul Scott as Ben Parker
I appreciate the mention of no spider team suiting up. I was dubious on that, but ready to go watch the train wreck if there was a superhero result at start of third act just to see. Good info.
Love the Simpsons joke right at the top of the show! 😂😂😂
As a general rule, film protaganists with consistently perfect fringes suck. Good to see this continuing the tradition.
