- Trailer for a fan edit and upscale remaster of the 1992 sci fi horror classic 'Alien ³'. This version of the movie uses the Assembly Cut as a baseline but makes certain narrative edits, first and foremost the inclusion of the Rottweiler, Spike, as the xenomorph host. Special effects and composited shots have been meticulously reworked and cleaned up. Color palette has been modified to make the colors bolder, richer, and more cinematic.

**Update - Website is back up and running**
Thanks for the update chief. Was getting a bit concerned 👍🏼
You should be the one making trailers of all the big horror movie production companies man
@@Total_Recall1984 Thanks, dude! If you know where I can audition I'd be delighted to haha
@@projecta34k8 I am going to look into that, have you ever tried to go to dimension films website and look on careers or anything? I would imagine there has to be position for people that make trailers. Also, have you made any of these for Alien or Aliens?
I think if you get enough interest even on your videos, some big company would pick you up!
I love this bleak miserable depressing movie so much.
Likewise!
Me too - really grown on me over time
Same.
Same, same, same. I am unapologetically a fan. Is it bleak? Yes! That's the freaking point. It's creating a morally nightmarish universe. Getting hung up on the deaths of Newt and Hicks and so on and so forth is missing the entire point. Alien 3 is *supposed* to be an existential nightmare and, wow, does it succeed.
@@markdodson6453Well said! 🙌
I really love that Spike is in this version. Please make sure the chestburster ending makes it into the legacy cut as well!
The fan cut of Alien 3 I want is one that somehow re-inserts the absolutely adorable wippet dog in an alien costume.
There’s plenty of footage out there. It’s not impossible
Alien 3 is brutal and beautifuly shot!!! Don’t listen to the haters out there. This movie is a masterpiece and this trailer is epic!!!
Alien four to wyona Ryder the pirates and the connection between Ripley and xenomorph.the scene were they connect then it gets sucked out of the hole is a great one . Basically every sigourney weaver film is brilliant no 1 was mind blowing no2 was something else and the rest are all unique. I'm glad she's not back for the last few modern one's because they are a different thing and I personally didn't rate the storyline . David was a great character and the other actors did a great job to but the connection between the engineers and David's overshadow of the story let it down . It would have been great if he lost it but in a different way
They killed Ripley. The main character. A waste of celluloid. Enough said.
@@olympicnut They killed Wolverine in Logan, does that make Logan a bad movie?
absolutely agree, also, its visually soo stunning and the acting is remarkable
Alien 3 is shit and the special effects look like 8th grade photoshop
Not only the most underrated Alien movie but the most underrated sci-fi movie of all time.
Agreed!
Amazing job on this trailer man, it makes Alien 3 look 100x better.
Thanks, buddy!
can't wait to see those compositing scenes

I’m glad Alien 3 is getting more fans
BROTHER’S BEEN COOKIN’!
So glad to see how well this project is looking, and I cannot wait to hopefully see it in October.
You’ve done a fine job with this movie, my friend- it’s looking so clean and new with these touch ups!
Thanks mate, much appreciated!
Alien³ is a survivor, built to endure, an incredible work.
As a massive fan of Alien 3 this looks amazing! Congratulations.
My love for Alien 3 has only grown over the years. I cannot wait for this!
Im so glad you didnt abandoned the project
Cant wait
So much hate for this movie. I cant understand. Assembly Cut makes it so good. Dark, nihilistic, hopeless, sad... What did people expect? This is the perfect ending of saga. SAD !!! But great.
Love this trailer. I adore Alien 3 and I'm not ashamed to admit that. From the lighting, use of the camera, color pallet, soundtrack, the bleak depressing atmosphere and religious undertones, just love everything Fincher was attempting to do with this movie, no matter how flawed it is.
Really happy to hear that this project is still alive, I can't wait.
Thanks buddy, I appreciate the support... and the patience!
@@projecta34k8 Can you make a list of all the significant changes and improvements you have made?
@@rayjones597 Already done, my friend. Check out the website, the 'Narrative choices' section.
@@projecta34k8 I checked out your website, it's amazing the amount of work you've done. I just have two small complaints, I think the new Fury 161 effect is better than the original but it seems a bit too modern, maybe it's because of the purple light and also the big radio telescope seems a little too sharp and doesn't blend into the background very well, but other than that it's great.
Did you also change the shot of Fury 161 in space at the end when they leave?
@@rayjones597 I promise it looks better in motion, those satellite shots are among the best in the remaster, you won't be disappointed :)
One of the greatest triumphantly nihilistic films ever made. It's dark, bleak, and beautiful!
If it were nihilistic there would be no meaning to Ripley or any of the prisioners deaths. It would all be pointless. However the film, despite its bleak atmosphere and situation is dripping with meaning. It wears a nihilistic mask.
@@Terrordome3000 It's nihilistic in it's thematic presentation; Ripley is already dead and cannot escape this, the prisoners live in an all male prison planet till death with no prospects for any future and no weapons to defend themselves against the Xenomorph and follow apocalyptic Christianity, the company is chasing a literal bioweapon to enact mass death for profit, the opening of the film kills the symbolic family unit, and Ripley defeats the nihilism of the entire scenario through embracing the absolute nothing Death.
@@noheroespublishing1907 Thats a good way of putting it, they 'defeat the nihilism of the entire scenario' by sacrificing themselves (thanklessly mind you) to save the universe from the alien. Their sacrifice wasn't in vain (not counting Ressurection) which ultimatly makes the film not nihilistic. It ends with meaning after a barage of utter dire events.
@@Terrordome3000 That's why I called it "Triumphantly Nihilistic".
@@noheroespublishing1907 sounds like you're from the Nihilistic generation if youre obsessed with labeling this movie as such lol
So exciting. Thank you! Can't wait to see this remastered version. An underrated classic...
Thanks for the support!
I'm a huge fan of Alien 3, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing your Legacy Cut!
This looks better than the original!😊
I truly do not understand why David Fincher dumped on this film, as his first big movie it is an incredible accomplishment. I think he was too concerned about walking in the shadow of the first two films he did not properly realise what he had created. This is one of those few movies that gets better with time. What was originally thought of as a poor story with bad creative choices eg killing off Hicks etc is actually what later makes it excel; the bleakness, the depression, the dismal, dreary palette are what make this film stand on its own feet. This film is not Alien or Aliens, it is Alien3, it sits on a different mountain top but one that is just as high. Alongside the subtle improvements over the years; hopefully this new edit will add another quality grade to this fine wine of a movie.
I totally agree!
He hated working on it because of the producers who were constantly on his back, I can understand why he doesn't want to hear about it again even if I long for a new version with the a better integration for the alien puppet... But since Disney bought the Fox it's almost impossible to get a GOOD version now...
oh please theatrical was insanely bad and only decent if you ignore every single terrible effect
Thank you so much for your work on this! I hope you will take this opportunity to get rid of the egg shot in the opening, because that egg never made any sense! Apparently it was part of the reshoots, because there was no egg in the workprint cut.
Hey there, thanks for the support! I've actually already got that covered. All references to the egg / facehugger have been removed in the opening credits. There's a breakdown of all the changes on the website at www.a34k.net. Hey I don't suppose you know where I could find a copy of the workprint cut? I've been trying to find it everywhere
@@projecta34k8 Oh okay so you even removed the facehugger shots? Not a bad idea actually (from a narrative standpoint), apart from the fact that the X-Ray shot and the shot with the facehugger moving on the cryotube with Newt's face in the foreground are haunting and beautiful really. Personally it's just the idea of the queen taking the time to lay and put an egg there - and the fact that no one saw that big egg in the shuttle(!) - that I always found not credible and ridiculous (and in addition this creates the problem of a single facehugger implanting 2 victims). It is just much more realistic (and scary) to imagine a bunch of facehuggers just sneaking in at some point. Anyway I'm very curious to see your cut, and removing the facehugger from the opening could be for the better. If you need some "test screeners" before release I would be happy to give it a go.
For the workprint you should ask the "Hack The Movies" guy, he made a video about that cut on his YT channel one year ago.
Your work is spectacular and I want to congratulate you for that. A big fan of Alien 3 writes to you here, which is my favorite of the trilogy. Now, beyond the obvious improvements you achieved, I always thought that an even more serious problem than the poor composition of the puppet in the frame is the fact that there are two totally different creature designs. The rubber suit presents a massive, robust, large and heavy xenomorph, with a lot of muscles, while the puppet is very skinny, long, with thin limbs and generally looks like a small specimen. It seems absolutely incomprehensible to me how two designs were worked on in parallel as if the different departments had not had communication with each other. Personally, I think they should have done everything with the suit, which looks better than in the entire saga, and optimized the direction and editing so as not to need shots that require other types of special effects. But hey, in case Fincher ever makes his version, I hope he does what I say or replaces the puppet with the best CGI that can imitate the rubber suit well. Again, congratulations and I hope your version finally comes out!
My favorite movie on the series. But she had her problems. Thank you so much.
Job Willins made the best fan edit Alien movie, when he made Alien Paradise. But i really hope this one will surpass it. This movie deserves it.
This is much appreciated. Speaking as someone, whose whole perspective on the power of bleak film making and the miserable world of the alien universe, was shaped by this movie.
It had a big impact on me too, thanks for the support!
Man I appreciate your work! This movie is going to be so much better now, I can't wait!
I am very much looking forward to watching this. You have done some incredible work here. This film is getting the much needed love and attention it deserves. It would be nice if you could put out a physical copy of this on a bluray like the Star Wars despecialized editions. Would love to put this on the shelf with the rest of my collection.
2:02 Still the best expression of the word in cinema history.
Haha, agreed! Had to have it in the trailer!
That whole scene is absolutely peak. Alien 3 might have a lot of flaws, but the warden making a speech then getting sucked up into the ceiling in a shower of blood and then the pause and "FUCK!" is probably my favourite scene in any alien movie.
Outstanding!! We want the whole film with this kind of quality! Superb!
I think you'll be happy with the result, thanks for the support!
@@projecta34k8 is it the project going fine?
@@rafael6693 It's moving along just fine!
Fans making edits now better than big studio? Looks amazing!
Dope. Thats the best cut of that movie so far
I am so happy that so many other people love this film. I don’t think it’s the best made or even has great effects but the characters and atmosphere make by far my favourite.
There can be no winners against this creature, even knowing its existence can lead to doom.
I need to rewatch this!
"This thing is a really pissed off!" and finally looks good as it gets! Alien looks sooooo much better than past versions of this amazing movie 🖤
Looking forward!
Noticed some of the puppet work blending in far better now...especially in the bit of the runner walking towards Ripley and Dillion! Nice!
That's the backbone of the project, fixing the effects. It's coming along nicely
I already love the film and was ok with puppet work but this truly revamps the film for me and hopefully with these fixed puppet work folds more ppl in and open up to accepting Alien3 as a part of the trilogy and culmination set by Alien and Aliens. Since I feel if the puppet work is fixed many would forgive the film for what it did with Hick and Newt and follow this story.
That's puppets? Looks like bad CGI
At that point CGI couldn't even look like bad CGI. Even the shields in Lynch's Dune were hand animated. And people think that was CGI. The only CGI in Alien 3 was a shadow and the cracks on its head at the end. What happened was the composting was rushed to get the film out in theatres. Same with hack job they did with the editing. Considering every effort Brandywine made to ruin the film it is surprisingly coherent and atmospheric.
@@Concreteowl Well, there's Jurassic Park from just a year later.
Maybe it's the sleekness of the 'puppet', or its enhanced borders, how it's composited in, or upscaled here (I don't remember how it looked on DVD or BD, as I don't re-watch this movie), but looks out of place.
Such a well crafted trailer. I’m so excited!
Thanks!
This and the Assembly Cut redeems Alien 3 to a point where I can put this up with the first two films and call it a day. Excellent Fan project this!
You know what, I'll gladly take it
Both Alien 3 and even Alien Resurrection are much better films than Prometheus and Alien Covenant, prove me wrong! 🤔
Considering that's your opinion on the subjective quality of a film, that would be a pointless endeavor. 😉
AWESOME !!! I remember the first time I saw the film when it was released in the cinema (like the 2 before it in their time) a very long time ago but still so fresh in my mind, I remember how much I I was excited and really happy to see the darkness and despair. The fact that there is no hope in space makes it “real”, tangible. I don't know how else to say it (one of the ideas was to make Ripley, Hicks and Newt a family: stupid) I'm very impressed with the work done and the authenticity of your passion. Your website is very serious and well created. I can't wait for October and hope many fans will help you with the "Ripley's Last Sacrifice" plan. PS: BRAVO for improving the compositing effects of the Alien puppet!
Been an ALIEN fan for a long time and I am one of the few that Loves ALIEN ³, it sticks to creator Dan O'Bannon's principle, Space is an uncaring place, it will not care if the human race goes extinct. The Alien is ruthless, unforgiving, unclouded by conscience, remorse or morality.
I agree mate, ALIEN 3 was a masterpiece I don't think David Fincher realizes what a masterpiece ALIEN 3 is? This film has become a cult classic NOW I honestly think ALIEN 3 is perfect. Yes, we ALL know the struggles with studio interference etc etc but David, mate, if this was your first film let me, tell you RIGHT NOW that this one is one of your BEST hands down. There's something magical about ALIEN 3 that NOT many sequels succeed in but ALIEN 3 did and ended the saga and closed the book. Looking forward to this Legacy Cut of ALIEN 3 bring on October!!!!!
@@paul4films193 Well said. I think Fincher feels the way he does due to being treated the way he was treated by FOX, and frankly, who can blame him? Sometimes you can make the best thing in your life, and yet ending hating it due to the process and the nasty people involved. But yeah, ALIEN ³ was masterfully done, and the studio and producers messed up the experience for Fincher, but they would never take responsibility for it.
@@EternalRoman 100% mate, I hear you, but David, should drop the hate that was inflicted during the making of ALIEN³ let the past be the past his done well for himself in the movie industry now so he should embrace this cult classic it's an amazing film I don't think ALIEN³ could have been made in a any better way maybe what this fan is doing with this Legacy Cut will fix it up better I really hope David Fincher see's what this fan is doing and perhaps helps him, achieve the best possible project in fact once completed David, should meet this fan and perhaps let Fox/Disney support this release and perhaps even in the future have it officially pressed to physical media with the director's approval of course two heads are better then one lol. But well done to this fan I have a question for the person making this will be be able to watch this on our 4K TV's? Or computer only. I would love to watch this on my 65inch 4K TV
Agreed, I'm stunned that the movie turned out as well as it did with all the studio meddling. I've always loved the atmospheric tone of it and I think Fincher did an amazing job.
@@projecta34k8 100% Agree
This looks amazing. Both the theatrical & Assembly Cuts of Alien 3 are favourites of mine; although I do prefer Ripley’s swan dive in the theatrical cut.
Fun Fact: I went to art college not far from where they filmed the EEV impact & Ripley washing up on the beach; Blast Beach in Seaham, North East England. Also parts of the blast furnaces that are on the Tees Estuary feature in the matte paintings; although they filmed some scenes at Blyth Power Station.
It’s worth noting that the same area of the Tees Estuary was the influence for the opening sequence of Blade Runner. Ridley Scott attended the same college I previously mentioned. Due to him growing up in the area, he took a lot of inspiration from the blast furnaces & oil refineries that dotted the landscape.
Fun Fact 2: I got to go behind the scenes at the now closed Alien War which was at The Trocadero in London. In their workshop, not only did they have Dietrich’s armour & a Smart Gun; amongst multiple other props from Aliens. They also had two large art deco inspired dog sculptures. These were from an unfinished scene set in the library on Fury 161; no doubt a further left over from Vincent Wards original story involving monks.
Going to be patiently waiting for this, already subscribed. Good job:)
Extremely excited to see the final product. Alien 3 will always hold a special place in my heart for a multitude of reasons, but I could not agree more that it is genuinely underappreciated. I'll be quite interested to see how you blended the Assembly Cut with the Theatrical Cut. I find moments from both films necessary to tell a more complete narrative (such as the alien coming from a dog rather than a cow) but I love the more expansive shots of the facility and the bleakness of the terrain. Curious to know how you reconciled the footage. You are an amazing individual for undertaking this.
Based on your preferences stated here, I think you're going to be very happy with the end result...
Very nice... I always thought this movie in Alien series was totally underrated. Look forward to the final product
I had to look back at the title and I still can't believe this is a fan project. Thanks for this masterful work!
Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!
Finally!! Alien 3 is getting the love it deserves.
Looks great! Will be looking forward to this! I see you're going with the dog version ( I'm fine with either personally). I wonder which version of the ending you'll go with, because as much as I like the added scenes in the Assembly cut, like Bishop screaming in pain that he's not an android, the part were Ripley falls into the fire just looks bad, the music doesn't even sync with the scene properly. It's probably the one thing the theatrical version has over the special edition and I could never understand why some would say otherwise.
I really love how you corrected the color of the alien and fixed the matte. It looks awesome. Can’t wait! Keep up the good work
No puedo esperar a ver este fan project, es amor puro, gracias.
The smoothed over compositing of the Alien looks clean AF.

The editing on this trailer is absolutely incredible!
Thank you!
I’m so glad you didn’t disappear, been waiting for this! This looks incredible!
Alien³ is easily as good as, if not better than Aliens; such a perfect end to Ripley's story. It turns everything back on its head, a threat, a dark and almost impossible situation after the happy ending in the previous film. It's just different and fits in to the trilogy so well, and with a stunning cast too. Thank you for making this 4k restoration a reality!
Not sure what other's think, but if there's one thing that I would suggest is using the original pulse rifle sounds right at the end when they shoot 85. Same prop from Aliens, same gun so would benefit from the same sound. Just my 2p anyway :-)
Love this film....and still today no matter other people's views or film critics ( who are those film critics anyway 🤨 they can be really closed minded) but this film is epic ..and makes the series thrilling until the end..then they just added extra films to keep it going but aliens films are a fave and this is just fab ( though aliens is a fave !! )

@@projecta34k8same here, can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Wow, well, since there's a goal to fix everything, here's the list that could also be fixed:
0:30 - film shaking (just add black borders after de-shaking, do not zoom in)
0:57 - antennae composition could be fixed
1:22 - 1:23 - Xenomorph colors don't match in two shots
2:04 - motion blur could be added to the Alien
2:07 - still too much chromakey bleeding from the original composing
2:16 - film shaking and warping (maybe a rolling shutter plugin could help)
2:29 - add motion blur

Almost at the finish line now
Looking forward to the finished project! This is without a doubt the most frustrating film in the entire franchise, bearing so many highs and lows yet holding a special place in my heart nevertheless, and from the previous clips, it looks like you're doing wonders with polishing the presentation!
Alien 3 also serves as Tywin Lannister's origin story when he was a member of the Faith Militant.

This trailer is superb. Well done!
Most underrated film in the franchise and I can't wait to see your cut of it! I'm currently rewriting Alien 3 under the title Alien: Arceon as I'm using the wooden satellite setting with the monks from Vincent Ward's script.
Interesting. Haven't they already adapted that into a comic or someting though?
@@projecta34k8 They adapted William Gibson's script into a graphic novel and audiobook but sadly Ward's script hasn't gotten a visual interpretation yet.
Looks fantastic. Made a dodgy hybrid cut myself back after the Quadrilogy DVD set came out, but was a long way from perfect. Can't wait to see the results of all your hard work. It's tragic there's likely never going to be an official hybrid cut, so eagerly anticipating yours, especially with the improved compositing!

I love Alien 3 and you can take that to the bank.
I'm definitely on board for this, I for one prefer the Alien being birthed from a dog. An Ox is a big lumbering, slow-moving animal. Doesn't make much sense that the Xenomorph is an extremely fast runner coming from an Ox. Between Romulus, this, and the new Aliens expanded documentary this is an exciting year for us Alien fanboys. thankyou bro.
I was like, "I can't wait to see that shitty blue screen stop motion Xeno in 4k!" and then I saw it, and i gotta say, you pulled off a miracle. It looked pretty good.

This looks awesome! I'm so excited to watch the movie for the first time when this releases.
Oh wow, that's great! I hoped there would be someone I could introduce to the movie!
Alien 3 is a flawed Neo-Noir drama masterpiece. Only Alien (1979) is a match to Alien-3.
One of my favourite films of all time, especially the Assembly cut! This edit is much anticipated!!! 😀
Stunning! Well done mate. #alien3
It was my least favourite ALIEN movie until PROMETHEUS and COVENANT came along - Since then I have grown to appreciate it more - This new version could be spectacular. If they can make this scarier with some clever editing, and new sound work, that could be awesome.
This is seriously impressive. Going though your website has convinced me this will be the only way to watch the movie going forward.
Thanks so much for the support, and for checking out the website. Please do spread the word!
When the world needed him most...😂😎💜
Wow looks really nice, how is it possible to see this cut? Always loved Alien 3, may be my favourite of the franchise, the assembly cut is great though I know it still needed work. Agree including the Rottweiler chestburster, much more of an assault to the senses and in context of how the xenomorph moves
omg I can't wait!!!
I like the idea of this, but I’m not a fan of changing the Xenomorph from an Ox to the dog from the theatrical release. There’s a biblical reason it was originally an ox which is reflective of the themes of religion, which is just more interesting to me.
I definitely get that a lot of people prefer the ox, and I know the religious symbolism, I just always preferred the dog. I felt it better informed the Alien's exagerated agression and made for a more impactful birthing scene. Regardless, thanks for stopping by!
I cannot wait to see this in October. Looks like a lot of love went into this. I’ve always felt that Alien 3 had the potential to be a truly great film.
Sensational work, my friend!
