I guess if you have skills in video and audio work and are good on camera then it becomes a hobby that makes sense to try to make it also into a career choice these days.

This year was crazy! I got Chopin, DaVinci, Deuce, AFUL Explorer, IE200, Mega5EST Bass+, Meze Alba, Simgot EW300, Tangzu Yu Xuan Ji, Moondrop Golden Ages…I still have the Softears Volume S and the Zetian Wu The Legend under my radar…and I’m curious to learn more about the WuKong The King IEM as well. What a year!
And what a 2025 is shaping up for us!
I’m surprised about the drop in ranking of the Mega5EST Bass+ compared to the regular one…I heard them side by side and the Bass+ sounded to me like an upgrade over the DaVinci without losing the properties of the regular Mega5EST. The extra bass wants a bit of volume to make the miss and highs shine, but overall I felt they were on par but with a different taste, after moving to a balanced cable. The 3.5mm cable was a weird initial choice from them, because the IEM loses some of it’s qualities with an unbalanced connection, he likes the extra power.
I'm really looking forward to what 2025 has to offer IEM wise. 2024 was incredible
To my ears, the amount of bass kills a lot of the transparency and clarity that the original has. So it sounds quite a bit more muffled
@@TimTuned You need to get the 4.4mm cable from Hisenior. I had the same issue with 3.5mm and a lot of us early buyers complained about that. It might not fix everything because it’s still a sizeable bass boost…but I noticed more clarity and a better placement of instruments with my HiBy R4 set to 35 vol and high gain after switching to the Manta 4.4mm. Also avoid the adapter in the box, it connects left and right channel to ground in a way that my short your amplifier. AudioAmigo did a good video about it!
@@or1on89 We don't really believe in the source gear and single ended vs balanced stuff here, friendo. If there's a difference it can be measured, which is very simple when it's just comparing the same IEM with just a cable swap, or in the case of a cable with swapable terminations just switching the 3.5mm connector to a 4.4mm one. Going from single ended to balanced will not make a difference in tuning or 'technicalities' unless there's something actually wrong with the single ended implementation (which isn't that uncommon unfortunately)

This year was quite a ride for me as well. I got my first ever IEMs in the Crinacle Truthear Zero and since upgraded to the Supermix 4 and most recently the Thieaudio Hype 4. Loving this hobby!

For bassheads two late 2024 releases should be considered for 2025. The Punch and Mega5EST B+. Both are incredible
Excellent! Thank-you for your work. 2024 was a fantastic year to collect IEMs. MEGA5-EST, Hype 4, Crin's Moondrop Dusk, The Fat Freq x HBB Deuce (if one can get one.) The Dunu DaVinci, Elysian Pilgrim, and the Ziigaat's x Jay's Audio Estrella, Cincotres, Doscinco's, Odyssey.. The Ziigaat x Fresh Reviews Arete.. Ziigaat sheesh they are good, and ambitious. The Hisenior MEGA5EST, or Mega Best under a $1k is my view, it is clean, holographic, excellent bass, with non fatiguing extended airy treble. Any IEM that sounds better has TOTL endgame pull. I feel the MEGA5 is a great everyday driver, and my whole collection of IEMs are now back ups.

I have been using the Blessing 2 Dusk for 2 years daily, as well as Aful P8 daily on my PC. Bought the new Dusk just to use on my phone with it's DSP cable. I was blown away by the way they sound and don't get the "controversy" around them.
I still have my Blessing 2 Dusk as well. Honestly would still hold up today
Do you use stock cable on other IEMS ? I get 20% more refined sound from NICEHCK HICOTTON cable.
Because you're just a beginner in this hobby who only buys influencer pushed products. Thus why you were blown away. The new Dusk is crap. Shit tuning that needs fixing with a DSP cable.
The first Dusk was much better. At least there were efforts into tuning it well

@TyroneBigguns-mk3og try to eq the low end subbass 10 to 20 db just right with your taste its the cleanest beast of a sub bass consider it the final boss while remaining its perfectly tuned etherial vocals and it is the endgame iem and most valuable price with accessories tho i wished the tanchjim origin x mega5est must have to collab with Timmy then use 2 dd(1dd for mid bass to sub bass + 1dd midrange to upper treble or a little larger Dd 12 to 14mm + 2 sonion ba + 2 est tuned it with meta iem just right amount of mid bass then peak clean well controlled detailed sub bass(new sub bass meta) I'll call it TiMegaOrgy just kiddin🤪😂🤣🤣 or Verum Sonus(in Latin) True Sound(in English)🤞✨️

Odyssey was pretty tied with the Symphonium Europa for my favorite release of the year, absolutely fantastic for the money and just a great all-rounder for anyone in the market! Also tied with Estrella for my favorite Ziigaat release so far!
I haven't tried Europa, I'll add that to the list.

I am so glad to see the Odyssey just make it. It has fantastic bass dynamics and tonality. It's a top pick of the year for me next to the Dynaquattro.
It's so good in fact, that I reluctantly sold my Cincotres that I purchased based on Timmy's recommendation. I also sold the Dusk and Da Vinci. Sorry there Tim. But you do mention it is good.

As a higher volume listener, my best IEM based on price to performance of year 2024 was AFUL EXPLORER, oh boy with my MOJO1 with modded XDUOO 05BL PRO, damn damn one of the best male vocals that I have heard along side Oracle mk3, Supernova. Explorer scale a lot with a high volume that I forget that I have the OG Monarch which still a banger on this date with a proper synergy of dac/amp, I'm glad that Odyssey make this video and hope soon will try it since it scales a lot with volume/power same as Explorer maybe I'm choosing between Odyssey or Timeless II since the OG Timeless is one of my Favorite IEM.
Aful explorer was dissapointing. In every sense. I wish I never purchased mine waste of money

@@jmanslm Yeah judging by the iems i like i think my preference is a cleaner sound with bass. I've never been a fan of these meta tuning type things give me pass and give me clear sound without sounding empty or too harsh.
a great compilation you put together, thank you for sharing the invaluable information....I did not see a rating for the FIIO FD15 IEMs. There are good comments on this $150 IEM, I wonder if you have heard or used it and what do you think about it compared to other IEMs. Some say it performs like a $500 IEM...hhhmmm, I ownder if you will be reviewing this at some point. If Apple dongle really is enough, then you should also consider fiio ja11 for the 5 band PEQ built in
A cheaper alternative to Tanchjim Origin is Meze Alba. An alternative to Dusk, besides KE4, is Letshuoer Cadenza 4. Just saying.

Question: can you let us know what DAC you use most commonly with these IEMs? Always open to hearing what others are using.
My go-to is the iFi Go Blu. Convenience of blutetooth but has the power to drive so many IEMs. The fiio BTR7 is my other go-to.

Anywho, in terms of 2024 releases, I agree on the Origin; I tried YOUR personal unit at canjam SG and instantly fell in love with it. Definitely my personal favorite 1DD IEM currently.
Other releases I would say the *KE4* is also a strong contender though I'm fairly iffy on the non-audio side of it like the accessories,
the *FF Deuce* is actually pretty great despite having an extremely niche tuning, dare I say better than their Mini models,
*Tangzu Xuan NV* was a nice surprise for me; finally a Hexa competitor in the price bracket,
*Oracle Mk3* was a step in the right direction especially after the fumble that was the Mk2
and in terms of the very high end, the only one that impressed me was the Canpur CP74E (yes, I prefer it over the 622B and that's a hill I'm willing to die on any day)

Noticed in your new ranking list that you moved the xenns top down in rank and the mega est up in rank
how would you compare these now?

My criteria changed a bit so the ranking for many things changed.
I'd say the Megafest is a lot more natural and sound more refined overall than the Top. The Top is a bit more colored. Both are great. Anything "A-" and above are considered great in this new and harsher ranking list.

Aful P7 is my favorite, but It's not as detail as P8, the P7 better at tonality and crispness with more mid bass punch. Only if you're willing to upgrade a NICEHCK HICOTTON CABLE or something else better, this is for audiophile listeners only. Thank you.

Hype 4 will sound more correct overall, but it has a lot of treble, so not for treble sensitive listeners.
Odyssey is just exciting sounding but with mids that's still near excellent. Both are versatile, and most likely for similar markets
