Sounds like an amazing IEM for us EQ heads, you can just not worry about any peaks in the treble which is usually the hardest part to deal with while EQ-ing, and shape the rest of the response to your liking.
The resonances will shift in situ while the frequencies affected by Helmholtz resonators are fixed, hence there's absolutely no guarantee that they'll be cancelled out in your ear.
I tried out Moondrop's IEMs for the first time at CES this year. I compared the Moondrop Meteor ($500) to the Aria 2 ($90) and the Dark Saber ($800) IEMs. Although the Meteors definitely sounded the best to me and offered the most clarity and instrument separation, I found the Aria 2 IEMs to be "close enough". Anyways, I bought the Aria 2 for $64, and I'm incredibly satisfied with my first IEM purchase from Moondrop.
This is the DSP nerd's holy Grail. Incredible treble means phenomenal DSP tinkering without worrying about treble or basically anything above 3kHz. Bravo to them
It seems like that 1-inch-thick faceplate was an afterthought, where they were forced to glue it to the shell after they complete the shell final design. lol
What an odd design point to make compromises on the shell design to fit such a large woofer for bass, just to tune the iem to have less bass. Seems like wasted potential, either from a comfort standpoint or fullness of the lower freq band pov...
@@HobbyTalk The user still has the option to fully utilize the potential of the driver as he sees fit. What matters is that they are providing the best possible components
@@mashopotatomashopotato8611 If I recall correctly, the CEO of Moondrop either has a dislike of bass, or somehow thinks that their customers don't really like bass, as Crin said that when he made the first Dusk, he had to reassure the CEO that the bass level he wanted actually would be fine and would go over well with customers.
13mm is too big a bass driver for an iem in my opinion. Glad to see micro-planars being used more though. I was talking about these almost two years ago when they were first being talked about by the manufacturers but could never get my hands on them until last year.
Thanks for the forecast! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). How can I transfer them to Binance?
I feel like, for something called meteor, the amount of bass is kinda disappointing, like the name is literally a giant rock that flies through space and smashes into things
Great video review as always . Question , I don't believe you reviewd oracle mk3 , but maybe you heard it , would love to know your thoughts on it if possible , thanks.
@@triggrhaapiYes, it’s good, but not the best. The Sony IER-Z1R, launched in 2018, remains the benchmark for bass even in 2025. So far, no IEM has surpassed its bass performance. Perhaps the advanced technology from major companies is difficult to replicate.
wish moondrop support would even respond to me with a human.. bought their robin and its defective and the left bud just buzzes and disconnects and its been 3 days of random responses not even related to my order. like telling me to upgrade to a version that doesnt exist or how they are out of stock on an iem i didnt even order. even if their products are good, their qc and support is horrible
they're gonna have a tough fight, no.1 I love ests, no.2 I love my Variations I hope they're Variations but an upgrade, nvm just heard about the bass, I already like more bass than Crin and if thinks it needs more then this is dead on arrival for me lol
I was very interested...then I saw that they're using the same cable that comes with IEMs 1/5th of the price, full resin build (that as you say multiple times would be nice not to see on a 300$+ product) and half the accessories as the Kadenz. At this point I'm going to wait for the IEM leaked with the DiscDream Ultra 2 marketing material, hoping that's a middle way between good accessories and decent build. It's good news that they're taming those micro-planars, IMO the ESTs are still superior if well implemented, but planar are evolving a long way and positively. Also, in all honesty...I'm waiting for Project Meta before spending any money this year :P
I'm really not a fan of the new trend of adding Micro-planars to higher end IEMs. It seems like a cost saving measure and the Micro-planars have no branding or information. For all we know they could just be cheap unbranded BAs.
We DO sell the Meteor! But only on pre-order for now: hangout.audio/products/moondrop-meteor
What about demo set?
Available at our store!
incorporating a huge ass 13mm dd and still having subpar bass is kinda crazy
because driver size has nothing to do with sound quality
RIP iem side sleepers.
Best iem for sleeping in senny ie 200/300/600/900
Using a huge 13mm DD driver just to tune it like BA bass
Yeah

if you are willing to use EQ, you can spend way less money to get almost any FR you want.

fair thats how i feel about the truthear nova just at a lower pricepoint
Designed bigger shell to accommodate a big DD, tunes is to sound bass light.
Bassheads gonna pump that bass up by +10db

The ceo of moondrop really does not like bass. He thinks (or at least used to) that the B2 Dusk has too much bass
Eh, we can use EQ.
I know that this is gonna sound crazy, but: EQ
This is a great point
@@HobbyTalk The user still has the option to fully utilize the potential of the driver as he sees fit. What matters is that they are providing the best possible components
if there is no bass , then why they use 13mm huge dynamic driver
If it’s a good quality 13mm then it should respond well to EQ.
driver size does not correspond with quality
Crinacle tuned Meteor, MUSK coming soon...
Softears Volume S when? 👀
Dusk version when
Yo, the faceplate is awesome on this thing. As a space geek, this might be my endgame (if there is such a thing in audio lmao)
My big ears are finally paying off 😭
Top 3 best looking iem idc roast me 😊
I thought moondrop was making a z1r with their massive dynamic driver :(
Makes we wonder what that 13mm driver is capable of with impedance adapters or EQ.
Moondrop makes IEM for J-Pop and K-Pop lovers first and foremost. I think we will never see a really warm IEM from them.
I guess I'll be waiting for the true moondrop variations 2.
I miss the phase at the end of the video, "Pls don't die"
or the "fuck off" from crin lol
I dont get it. Why insert such a huge DD and tune it with no bass? I think the last moondrop iem with bass emphasis was the variations.
like others have commented, its not hard...DD for th highs....Planar for the bass

its like they took a look back in time, seen the ultimate ears super fi 5 extra bass and thought... hmm yes thats a good looking IEM.

Look who it is it’s the goat 🐐
If its bass has no impact, Meteor is an odd choice for a name.😉

the driver configuration like dunu bk3001
Thats weird, I have the Meteor for a few weeks now and no one says it lacks bass, infact all my friends who heard the Meteor says that its bassy.
But, there’s already a Meteor IEM
If it's not on the list it isn't worth piss.
I feel like, for something called meteor, the amount of bass is kinda disappointing, like the name is literally a giant rock that flies through space and smashes into things
I have the slight suspicion that his criticism of the Meteor has to do with Project Meta, just a suspicion......
Great video review as always .

Nozzle size?
You should start referring to ‘height’ as ‘depth’ instead. It is the more accurate description
Chu-2 original forever! :)
4 plannar sick 😂😂
We want Project METAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone commenting about planar for bass. Look at official Moondrop meteor page. It clearly states DD for bass and planar for treble
Hexa bass?
I am guessing 2025 will be all about replacing the EST drivers with these micro planar drivers.
Bigger DD but lower bass. Why then????
Bigger DD for treble
Planar tweeter for bass
@@ganshengkai7060 mhm ofc
TBH, I think their HODDUS setup was better for bass.

Sounds very nice but I'll stick to my Variations.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to try it if I had the money to spare, but I just don't.
💗💗💗💕💕
lol second, very interested to see if meteor is good
Personally, I'm glad to start seeing this emphasis in the mids (1-3 khz) again, contrary to the current weird trends

please turn off auto-translation, it makes video titles terrible in other languages
Dusk is better
Shame about the bass.
🔥
hi
Pog
Please list the pricing in videos like this. It's important info most of us wanna know

No bass? No buy!
the planar....you guys are weird not understanding the driver alignment in this
Lol what? It has bass.
Look at the macro not the micro. It just isn't on the maximum side of the preference bounds
Look at Moondrop official meteor page. It clearly states DD for bass , planar for treble
