ok help me understand this if you can.. greatly appreciate it.. i bought mega5est and ziigaat cinc at the same time and i find the instrument separation and details are more noticeable in ziigaat... vocals are a bit forward and really good in mega5... base is a bit more in ziigaat (not sure about quality).. and finally I bought mega5 to replace BD2 dusks and though they are overall improvement minus the base... just what I could hear obviously.. am not expert
This IEM has something most reviewers don't mention. It sounds open and music goes as wide as it was recorded in the studio. It's indeed a special IEM. You can listen all day with this IEM. Source matters a lot too.
Mega5 is so good. It’s warm, full, lush, bass is hits hard, vocals are beautiful. Agree that it needs a little more treble extension for better micro details, but you don’t really feel like you’re missing much when listening. It’s an addictive listen with its warmth and body
@@spades_taco5079 How does it sound? Does it have bass that would hurt ears after a long period of listening? Are they comfortable and do they hurt when you put them onto your ears? I am pretty new to this iem stuff and will try to get these if they have low base and are comfortable. Would appreciate your answer ty
I also have the mega5est, and I've gotta say it sounds good, and about the wow factor, I can always EQ, I'd rather have a nice natural default as a good base, and i can add what i want. Removing an quirk from an iem is a lot harder than adding it in imo. I also want to say the fit on the mega5est has to be one of the best I've worn
Just got these a few days ago... Initially I was very disappointed, and was wondering what the hype was all about. Different tips make huge difference for this IEM. I usually prefer foam tips, but the included foam tips didn't do it for me at all... Still, for my preference, while good, this IEM won't be displacing my IE 900/600 as my favorites. But for those who are more into neutral tuning, and don't want to spend a lot of money, this is an excellent choice.
Timmy's tech ranking (based on previous videos not side by sides): mega5est, B3, P8 I haven't tried the B3/dusk, but have the P8 and mega5, and I would say the mega5 wins. P8s brighter so maybe that helps with details but listening closely on the mega5, I hear textures and layers i've never heard before (I also used to have the QDC gemini, which is supposed to have great resolution). the mega5s vocals extend so well, you can hear them trail off so clearly without getting lost in the rest of the mix. P8 had some good details, but excelled at "macro" details, where the mega5 excels at "micro" details and resolution (thought Id still say it wins a little over the P8 in macro details to), without shoving it in your face (not that the P8 does). otherwise, timmy is very right, the mega5 is a very lowkey sound without being (too) boring and I love it
I've had my pair of M5E for 2 months now, and I still listen to them daily. They are tuned extremely well. Also, what you are calling exciting, others refer to as distracting. It's all subjective.
Great review and comparison section, Timmy. I think I fell into the camp that needed just a little bit more excitement, but that midrange is so fantastic like you said. It’s impossible to deny the value of Mega5EST.
can you do a quick comparision with the Studio, if the Studio is anywhere as blunted in the attack like the Mega5st, or if female vocals sounds as good, and if bass and treble are comparable or different
to be fair, Studio 4 has a more precise attack especially in the treble and low end, but the bass exhibits a little too tight of response on the decay which makes floor tom or any low frequency instrument sound a little too... tight? though it's still very well tuned across the board. Mega5EST is a more "natural" sounding set overall with better perceived imaging compared to Studio 4's "studio-like" presentation. honestly, between Studio 4, Mega5EST & Oracle OG, I can't pick which is the better set because they are simply awesome in their own right. I love all of them
Best vocal is half price of Monarch (almost) ? Oh yeah, i love this mid range trend. This year is lot of amazing iem, and the hype for this is doesn't lie
it's like a more full-bodied Oracle with fuller bass and safer treble. both have equally delicious midrange, though the Oracle has that special sauce which is its timbre that no other IEMs possess. I love both of them
I ordered a pair along with the DITA Project M, but for some reason the Hisenior was cancelled by the store. I suspect that they did not actually have a pair on hand. Hopefully, they will get some stock soon!
nice review timmy, thank you for all of the direct comparisons. seeing the flood of positive reviews all over, it seems like the mega fest will be the benchmark to compare all others to.
Gosh, I’m so tempted to get this now, but I’m slightly worried about which version I may end up with. I’ve heard that the IEM had gone through tuning changes before this latest iteration and YT reviews of the old tuning was nowhere near as good as this. Guess the best way is to wait for all existing stock to clear and get the new ones
Holy that graph is almost perfect, like really close. Also bringing out "most people wouldn't notice" argument for a high end iem doesn't really work cause most people won't buy those kind of stuff

I don't think I've heard the word 'midrange' more often in one video! lol My audiophile vocabulary is pretty limited, so I don't even know how to tell what good vs bad midrange is. How do y'all define it? Do I like midrange and don't even know it? lol Examples would help! Please and thank you!
The Mega5 is using 2 Est vs Pilgrim’s 1 Ba for the treble. Why is Mega5 less detailed than Pilgrim? Definitely it should have better resolution, isn’t it?
Meh it still depends on the implementation of the EST drivers. The Volare and Variations also had EST drivers and those sounded less detailed than the Pilgrim to me.
Hopefully first? 🤣 Edit: just finished the video. The comment about it being meh / not exciting definitely worries me. Graph-wise, it does bear quite the resemblance to the Aful P5 which I personally own. so if the Mega5Est sounds similar to the P5, I'll probably like it but I'd still have to try it out for myself to check the technical performance; I'm expecting a few steps up in that department In the meantime, I'm gonna enjoy my Binky 😋
