Well, that is not how it works. Everyone has different requirements and likes and perceives the same thing in different ways. It doesn't mean that someone who is extremely impressed with the upgrades would be dishonest.

Yep huge change images are no longer badly oversharpend
They probably just added the sharpening on the camera and took it out on the next phone. Imagine they do it on purpose..
@@rummannasiri2 BS. The 14 pro has also oversharpened in iOS 16. it’s literally the reason why I returned the 14 pro and stood with my 11 pro 😅

The implementation of 24MP in auto is actually great! In the smartphone industry where almost every smartphones joins the '48-200 megapixels', Apple's move is simply outstanding. I even find it uncanny that a particular phone has such a huge amount of megapixels in camera but still outputs 12MP binned photos. Where's the benefit of the large sensor?! Well, Apple has just done it! Let's just wait for other brands to implement this as well.

That’s why night mode doesn’t use 24, and it defaults to 12mp so pixel binning is increased to gather more information during dark scene
I would love to see a regular 15 vs. 14 Pro/Pro Max comparison! From speakers to photos etc. since they have similar if not the same hardware subjectively speaking
Thank you for this I have the 14 pro max and I was curious if was going to regret it and wishing I’d waited that bit longer to upgrade. Glad to know that there’s nothing majorly different well aside from USB. It’d be nice if my phone used the same power cord as my iPad Pro but it’s not the end of the world.
It is the same sensor with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, its just the new software algorithm for the HDR and enabled the 24mp output of the 48mp sensor. The biggest change is the 5x telephoto lens.
Most honest review I seen to date! I’m a photographer and I feel they are trying to fool consumers. 90% of photos are taken during the day. They need a larger sensor for better night photos.
On top you can tweak the tint and you have the same thing.

HDR seems to improve every year but to me it looks like the previous phones got slightly worse to make it seem like the new ones are significantly better.
The hdr is software, apple could just update the 14pm and 13pm to smarthdr 5...

This is great... and yes, ProRes and recording to an external drive is massive. Recording prores on the 14 Max was difficult and the processor could damn near barely handle it in a timely manner. Most people (non-video editors) this is a non-issue like you said.

One interesting thing I noticed is while viewing on YT, if I pause in your side by side video comparisons on the front camera, you can clearly see the smearing in the 14pro Max, and it's not like 24fps motion, it's compression. Since most of video content shot by iPhones will most likely be consumed here on YT, little improvements like this are helpful. The 15pro Max does have a less "over sharp" effect that the 14pro Max has.

Thank you for your video I have iPhone 14 pro Max and I was wondering that I have to take the iPhone 15 pro Max, for two reasons for me usb c and the transfer of video photos to ssd disk. And your video convinced me to wait for the 16 pro Max. Because, we just won the video in log and usbc. With the 15 pro Max. And some tests in France because I live in France they are not objective by saying that the 15 pro Max is better in photo. And your video proves that there is not too much difference, in the shots you made. The 24 mega pixels against the 12 mega pixels do not change too just, a little on the exposure. And the problem is that it is the calculations of the processor that will make choices on the exposure, and the warmer colors. In short, I pass my turn, and I think Apple is reaching the end of photo progress. And will never do like android, Samsung or Google pixel, iPhone remains for me the best in portrait and videos.
Comparing maximum zoom on each was a little unfair. I’d rather see a comparison of 15x on each.

I would say maybe 15 pro max is not a big difference. BUT! Maybe if you are a content creator, filmmaker. The 15 is more handy and helpful, use as a secondary camera perhaps?
So yeah. If you are not into really professional filmmaking I think you shouldn't switch to 15.
Yeah, you can shoot with Apple LOG, ProRes but if you are an everyday phone user to take pictures, stick with the 14. Unless you are rich as ... :D

For most day-to-day use I think the iPhone 14 Pro Max is still a great phone minus Thunderbolt, I want to upgrade to the 15 because of USB-C but honestly, it seems this year is marginal at best. I am going to wait till the 16
Why don’t people show the ProRaw modes? I only shoot on my 14 Pro in ProRaw all the time for the 48mp quality
Because you’re losing the depth effects of the new iPhone 15 models in 48mp, and you’re also getting ever so slightly worse HDR, and nightmode goes to 12mp anyway. So I made my video in the mode that most people will use:) however, there are many videos out that do show the 48mp raw mode
Thank you for the non-nonsense, no-hype video. I personally can see a difference in a lot of the main sensor photos, but it's definitely not "upgrade to a new phone" huge. That said, going from a base 13 the difference is....well....significantly more stark lol. We're just at a point where upgrading year-over-year doesn't make a ton of sense unless you're jumping from a base model to a Pro(and even then it's iffy....).

@@CANCAN-sc9vqdefinitely 14 pro has improved a lot on iOS 17 , especially when u use heif 48 , the highlights are much better and mainly the over sharpening decreased so much.
The name 15PM and 14PM are the biggest differences, that's what some people buy🍏

Is it possible, that the image processing algorythm includes some AI recognition step, and the features recognized can be enhanced, like letters and edges and lines? It not necessarily a bad thing, I guess, if it is implemented the right way, but I have a feeling, our iphone is more and more like us, and it is not showing what the sensor detects, but it displays, how it can interpret it, how it makes sense of it. Do we have information, if these kind of feature extraction and recognition steps are indeed part of the basic image processing workflow? If I understand correctly, in some sense it is part of JPEG compression as well, but in that case there is no neural network behind, there is no modell of the world with context, and it doesn’t mean anything to it, it is just about entropy and local contrast. Apple refers to some AI step, but I cannot find information, exactly what step it would be.
Bro seriously, the two phones have nearly the same sensor but the only they change for the 15 is the sensor.
@@cameronwooten9593 I mean the CP part, “Photonic Engine and Deep Fusion”, it has some ML subject awarness step in the pipeline. Maybe apart from ML, it has better stacking, noise reduction, maybe multiple exposures with sensor shift?

When iPhone 12 pro max was out they said almost the same camera as for iPhone 11 pro max quality . When iPhone 13 pro max was out, same no difference with iPhone 12 pro max. When 13 pro max was out, yeah same as 12 pro max. When 14 pro max is out, teah same as 13 pro max. 15 pro max was out this year, yeah same to 14 pro max for camera quality. @@alexv8203 A channel named ZONEofTech actually tested this, but he stacked up the 25x zoom on the 15 pro against the 15x on the 14 pro ( cropped in ). He said the difference wasn't noticable but to my eyes, there were some good improvements.

Nobody wants Apple to bring back the insane amount of surface smoothing previous iPhones have suffered from! Completely smoothing over every minor detail in photos.
It's better to have some noise, if it means more details are retained.

Why u comparing 24 vs 12 Mp? Why not comparing 48 vs 48? With iOS 17 14 Pro has a 48 Mpx Jpeg.
Cause most people shoot in default. However, the 15 Pro Max would still be better due to less sharpening, and better HDR.
Noise isn’t bad. Over-sharpening is bad. This is why I still prefer everything on the 15 over the 14. Big difference in the artificial sharpening

waiting for iphone 16, its not worth upgrading from iphone 14, these comparisons are only for youtubers , in real life nobody gives a shit about zooming and seeing if there is any noise or glare or a pixel of reflection, especially with these last years flagship phones, they dont know what to do anymore, they try to convince us with zooming the photo and seeing that there is less noise, which can be done with software programming such as AI noise reduction and they dont tell us about that, they tell, we upgraded the camera, you just have to zoom it and wollah, magic. Its very ridiculous for some addicted on changing iphones every year there is new, and they are the most who dont understand nothing about phones, they just eat the lies from apple.

1st comparison: Check the trees. 15 pro seriously better. Also the building is oversharpened on the 14 pro.
2nd comparison: once again check the plants in the foreground. Also the color of the red wall looks way better one the 15 pro.
3rd comparison: the 14pro is oversharpening the whole picture as always. Shadow parts of the 15 pro are better.
4th comparison: 14 pro as always overexposed.
5th comparison: as you mentioned the clouds; also oversharpening on the 14 pro.
6th comparison: 14 pro once agian overexposing the whole picture, especially the trees.
7th comparison: man… i have to repeat myself: the oversharpening of the 14 pro is ridiculous as hack. It looks just bad. Always hated that iPhones did this. 15 pro finally doesn’t luckily.
I guess I gotta stop here.
My conclusion is, that the 15 pro is way WAY better in an extremely important segment of photo-quality, which is: Exposing, natural sharpness, and also color saturation. The 15 pro is all in all so much more balanced; you can see it literally in every picture 🙈
For some people it might be just small improvements, but these improvements are so important for the quality of a photo.
But except from your weird statement, that there are almost no differences; it’s a very nice comparison, I like the pictures you’ve made and you’ve compared.

Only Apple would compare an iphone camera to another iphone, like other brands don't exist. Are you Apple ?
How about the vivo x90pro+, Xiaomi 13 Ultra, and the mighty Oppo find X6 Pro ? Those are the 1" type cameras that should be benchmarks.

More detail from 24MP shots, better dynamic range, better night time shots, less oversharpening. It’s not a big hardware upgrade this year but the software improvements are noticeable.
night time shots improved a lot, the 14 pro has too much sharpness, clarity, ringing, the 15 fixed that which is pretty anoying

It’s people choices to do whatever they want. All phones are technically at a peak point, there’s very little differences. If we as human beings are still arguing of what is the greatest phone company then you’re just only fighting with yourself. relax enjoy the video. Remember iPhones have more customers and it seems like no one’s gonna be leaving them anytime soon.
