Already upgraded and as a photographer, the difference is night and day. I’ve been using Halide to get full access to those raw files without the extra processing of ProRaw.
honestly even for 12 or even 11 pro I dont think it needs to be upgraded. use the money on apple stocks. with most ppl sharing on social media 11, 12 are great enough
I think I’m gonna have to stick to my 13 Pro Max for this year. While the camera upgrade and some new features are nice I don’t think there’s enough reason for me to switch. Also, I don’t do pixel peeping and zoom in on photos just to see how clear and detail rich my photos are.

Thanks. As a portrait shooter who uses the telephoto camera 95% of the time, its really disappointing to see no change to it. Going to sit this one out. If they dont give the telephoto a larger sensor, faster aperture and at least 48 megapixels on the 15, I'll probably get something else.
tbh I don't think iPhone 14 PM offers anything substantial over 13 PM when it comes to camera apart from better zoomed details in ideal conditions and that super-steady mode (that you can do from most video editors anyway) while it also loses to dynamic range and color accuracy in many shots. Anyone with 13 PM and slightly consideration over finances should not think of upgrading to 14 PM unless selfie camera and ultra-wide is the only cams you use.
Thanks for specifically focusing on the green artifacts in low-light video! My primary use is livestreaming outdoors in low light. I'm limited to 1080p so I don't think I'll get a significant visual fidelity boost to go to the iPhone 14 Pro from the iPhone 13 Pro.
Excellent video, once more. Shocking that the older iPhone 13 Pro Max can provide much better pictures, such at 8:14. The main green leaf has much more texture and details. With the 14 Pro Max, the texture and details have been excessively compressed, leading to subpar results. And certainly not what could be expected at such a high price, and with such a focus on the best "pro cameras".
literally no regular guy taking pictures will take them in ProRAW, why shrinking down the regular photo... F with this clowns at Apple. 64MP on Samsung I can zoom and count the grass. These for 10 years be using 12 MP, finally put in there something better and they are shrinking the image to 12MP, why... what's the point. Aint nobody be saving 200MB ProRAW
The 14 pro max for me in a couple areas not talked about much . In call volume and better speaker call volume while sounding more clear . 13 pro max still is worth a look for interested buyers

15 isn’t worth cause even if it’s titanium and round edge nowadays most people use phone cover so no need of it and it doesn’t have luxury feelings yet high cost and type-c Yeah it’s the only profitable feature because performance is almost same so wait for huge upgrade
Already upgraded to 14PM, since I could trade almost a year old 13PM for very good price. ( Compare with buying AppleCare+ or Upgrade which a little bit price difference. So I choose to upgrade for new generation which has another year warranty and new phone features :)
I’m most impressed by the performance of the ultra wide camera because I’ve still got an 11 Pro whose ultra wide camera is just sh*t. But ProRAW, the Cinematic Mode, Action Mode, and the 48MP photo mode are really amazing as well! So despite the insane euro price this year, I’m going to upgrade this year to the 14 Pro! I hope Moment is going to release new photo cases soon … and wonder how useful the lenses will be on that new sensor
AOD isn't big deal if you have a smartwatch, for the price of iphone 14 pro max you can buy almost new(second hand) samsung galaxy note 20 ultra and iphone 13 pro max 128 gb.

They messed up iPhone 14 Pro HDR. The highlights clipped badly. Probably due to the newer sensor higher MP count which resulted in slower image readouts. Hence it took lesser picture and produced worse HDR than iPhone 13

The 13PM has better battery life than the 14PM by most real world reviews. If I didn't have the 13PM I may consider the upgrade but the improvements are so subtle and not groundbreaking enough to justify it. I think ... *hope the 15 and 16 are more than just incremental improvements at the very least USB-C, fingerprint scanner.
The 14 Pro have higher frequency chips, AOD and 2000 nits brightness, so it is expected that if you add features that drain battery you will get less battery life. Apple were hoping for 3nm with the 30% efficiency gain, but TSMC had to dump that as they were getting too low yield, so basically 5nm+. Expectations due to happenstance and you either buy or don’t. For many coming from an iPhone XS or older this is a massive upgrade.
@@andyH_England Iphone's AOD is just a battery drainer.. No way should it have been implemented like this...It's like aod on an lcd panel.Oled means turned off pixels not slightly bright.
They’re pretty much the same, and I’ve seen one video where the 14 pro max lasted an hour longer than the 13 pro max. I think battery is the least of your worries when you can get 10 hours of constant strenuous use, if you need more than that then you simply need help.
I had issues with ESIM swaps on my 13 Pro Max this past week so I’m glad I’m not stuck with only having that option. Also not surprised about the battery life being slightly worse on the 14PM considering it has a much brighter display and smaller battery with AOD tossed in.
It’s kinda not worth the upgrade. There is no SIM card slot to switch on. Doesn’t support 8K video. And still almost the same features as the 13 Pro Max does

Interesting. Other reviewers are getting worse low light performance from the 14 Pro, especially for Astro photography. Maybe Disneyland lightning is very forgiving for high megapixel sensors even with pixel binning. But these result definitely show the 14 pro taking better low light shots than the 13 pro.
Ok so here’s my takeaway, this comparison was all about one phrase “it’s a bit better but they trade blows a lot” to me that doesn’t seem enough to switch, I’ve seen battery tests where the 13 PM beats the 14 PM so it’s still the battery king. Dynamic island I don’t care a lot about. And that’s basically it.
It is an S year upgrade, so what wre you expecting? Next year is the design change. Much like the S22, Fold4 and Flip3, iterate updates as OEMs adapt to the 3-4 year upgrade cycel of the average user. Very few, probably less than 5% upgrade yearly, that is a very niche demographic.
Yow Dan! Have you noticed the tinting issues on the 13 Pro Max? There’s a post on reddit about it and I was shocked that there are a lot of people having that kind of issue knowing that iPhones cost a lot. I myself is encountering it and sadly, Apple is not accepting it as a reason to replace the unit but instead they will just do a screen replacement. Just totally sad and disappointing.
I think it's just worth jumping from iPhone 11 to 14 pro Max less than that is to lose money without innovation in addition to performance which is minimal
They're both top tier, better than anything Samsung etc can do. Not enough of an upgrade for a switch from my iPhone 13 Pro Max. Was gutted they didn't fit another lens on there, a la Samsung. When they do, maybe I'll upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
I saw that the 48MP applies to night mode as well (which is very nice), but does it also apply to all other camera modes/lenses (Ultrawide, Macro & Zoom)?
The camera quality is still unfathomable on an iPhone, now at 48 megapixels. But I'm going to stick with my 13 Pro Max just for the battery life alone. The battery on this phone is a beast. The best phone that Apple has ever made, in my opinion.

I need a tip from your end , the iPhone 14 pro has a tendency to blow out well lit light sources and neon signs at night , usually the final output does not turn out good. The Iphone 14 Pro is again the best handheld device for photos/videos in any scenarios, and the 10x optical zoom on the Samsung S22Ultra is very rarely needed, so don't even tell me that Samsung shoots better than the Iphone, your words will be wrong
You are 100% correct. I have owned Samsung’s S22 and many others from Samy. But compared the 13 Pro Max or the 14 Pro Max feels much more polished. Apps look better, Games work better and the resell value of the iPhones is much higher to. Each year i can sell my used iPhone for 800-900 Dollars no questions asked. While Samy mobiles drastically lose value.

Hey Danny do you have input as to how I can turn off the auto hdr thing on iPhone 13 pro max? It is ruining all my photos my making them over sharpened, over exposed, over contrasting and unnaturally crisp looking. Like i can see my original photo change to this processed version right in front of my eyes when I view it for the first time after shooting but can do nothing about it. Any fix for that?
Danny - how much of those camera improvements (eg green tinging at 9:25 etc) are due to the hardware vs software? I feel like 95% of the improvements YoY can just be fixed with software taking advantage of the previous chipset better. The Pixel range of phone has proven this over and over again surely? What do you think?
apple processing sucks nowadays, they should allow for more control on photographic styles like, sharpening, texture, noise reduction, etc... i love pro raw but its too much hastle; some middle ground built in the camera app would be killer
In my opinion, Very minor upgrades in camera, no one will noticed the extra minor sharpness in 14 pro. It is the same with the CPU, very minor difference as well. As an iPhone 13 pro max owner, i only like the proraw and dynamic island and nothing else.
Same experience with the esim on t-mobile. It eas a breeze. But ...... that is not my main gripe with it. It's switching back and forth that sucks. I use a pixel and an iPhone and this sucks. So, I literally sold my 14 pm last night. I'm not ready for this and neither are the carriers, at least for ease of switching.

i regret buying the 14 pro max. It’s terrible with the auto exposure after taking a picture.
At 11:27, I agree, to be able to see the fire hydrant is better than no photo at all, so I think the iPhone 13 Pro Max took the better photo there

The camera quality is still unfathomable on an iPhone, now at 48 megapixels. But I'm going to stick with my 13 Pro Max just for the battery life alone. The battery on this phone is a beast. The best phone that Apple has ever made, in my opinion.

Hi good review ,one difference no one seems to mention is the display on the 14 pm is slightly more narrow when you’re holding both side by side it’s quite noticeable! I’m debating whether to keep 14 pm or send back? why didn’t apple keep display the same size!!

Hi Danny your reviews are really good and unbiased. I always enjoy watching your camera comparison videos. I need a tip from your end , the iPhone 14 pro has a tendency to blow out well lit light sources and neon signs at night , usually the final output does not turn out good. Is there a way to lower the brightness of the neon signs and light sources to fix the issue. Kindly suggest.

You are 100% correct. I have owned Samsung’s S22 and many others from Samy. But compared the 13 Pro Max or the 14 Pro Max feels much more polished. Apps look better, Games work better and the resell value of the iPhones is much higher to. Each year i can sell my used iPhone for 800-900 Dollars no questions asked. While Samy mobiles drastically lose value.

Hey Danny do you have input as to how I can turn off the auto hdr thing on iPhone 13 pro max? It is ruining all my photos my making them over sharpened, over exposed, over contrasting and unnaturally crisp looking. Like i can see my original photo change to this processed version right in front of my eyes when I view it for the first time after shooting but can do nothing about it. Any fix for that?

Danny - how much of those camera improvements (eg green tinging at 9:25 etc) are due to the hardware vs software? I feel like 95% of the improvements YoY can just be fixed with software taking advantage of the previous chipset better. The Pixel range of phone has proven this over and over again surely? In my opinion, Very minor upgrades in camera, no one will noticed the extra minor sharpness in 14 pro. It is the same with the CPU, very minor difference as well. As an iPhone 13 pro max owner, i only like the proraw and dynamic island and nothing else.

I don't see the 48mp being good he takes it in proRaw that certain photos are dark but I don't see anything new
Same experience with the esim on t-mobile. It eas a breeze. But ...... that is not my main gripe with it. It's switching back and forth that sucks. I use a pixel and an iPhone and this sucks. So, I literally sold my 14 pm last night. I'm not ready for this and neither are the carriers, at least for ease of switching.
I decided to switch from Android to iOS. Should I take the 13 Pro Max or the 14 Pro Max? I plan to have a phone in the long run. I see that there are no drastic differences in the specifications. Advice?
