SMBX Custom Level: Airship Assault

  • A level where Bowser Jr. tries to fry Mario with fireballs while the latter tries to navigate the airship.

    Gear Gettaway music is perfect, especially considering Junior's affinity for smooth jazz.
    But I think it would be better if Junior was actually a miniboss that is possible to beat with varied attack patterns. Beating him earlier than expected could reward players with an alternative path or the level ending more quickly. Though these are merely just ideas. I don't want to pervert your vision to fit mines.

    The platform mechanic is impressive, how did you force Mario to jump to touch the coin and activate it?

      Oh, thank you! Basically I made a Layer (called “Bolt Platform”) for the platform and the coin generator, and then made two Events (called “Platform move” and “Platform stop”) that activate when the coin is collected.
      The “Platform move” Event makes the platform move for about 1 second, which activates the “Platform stop” Event, which makes the platform stop moving until Mario collects another coin.
      Hope this makes sense. :)

      Yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with jumping correct?

      Oh, sorry, I forgot to explain:
      The coins generate from the top of the platform, so if Mario stands on them, they won’t spawn, so Mario HAS to jump in order for the coins to spawn.
