New sub here, i love road kings. I own an 04 that had a 95" kit in it when i bought it along with screamin eagle cam plate, pump, and 525 cams...it runs pretty good for a a short stroke motor. Cant wait to see what you do to this one man!
Wow. Usually they wear the same unless someone in the past replaced the outside one and not the inside one. We will certainly be replacing both on this bike. Thanks!
No problem Kevin :) Weather looks good your way. Wish I could see the Yamaha in the background, getting more and more excited. Have a great weekend to you and your family.
I found you just in time! I just inherited my grandfathers 2000 Road King and this video has helped me learn a lot about what to look out for! Mine currently dies while idling so trying to figure that out. I'm as green as it comes to owning and riding but I'm ready to learn everything I can!
@@butlercustoms Awesome! Looking forward to seeing it! Almost everything I look up for my bike is for newer models. So happy I found your videos. I really want to be able to work on my bike myself when I'm able to. Keep up the great work and love your personality! Your humor is a main reason I subbed and will stick around.
Before adjusting the primary chain tensioner, shouldn't you turn the rear wheel to find the tightest spot on the chain and adjust it there? Otherwise you could be over-tightening it.
Correct. I tightened it this way just so we had a good start on the motor with no slop in the chain. I will be pulling the primary cover and inspecting things more closely once we can get it running.
Wow the first year of the twin cam oh boy. But that's a great color I like that too bad it's been setting I can't imagine people left their bikes that. But maybe they have a medical problem or something else I guess. Life's too short to let it sit
I don't think it ever worked in the '99 oh that's how they actually time the motor. I'm going to use to the later models where it's a crank position sensor. Now I didn't have one but other people in my neighbor had one. I I kind of stick with the shovel heads and early evos.
How many miles are on that maybe I missed that too sorry yeah but there's the other plastic and those springs I think they put.. too much tension on those shoes I thought or maybe the chain was I don't know I heard they were like sharp
@@oleksasirotinin1532 I would if you were going to be cranking on it for a while, I would . But in this case I wanted to test the fueling system as well as the motor.
for tour time all the parts and still dont know how the fuel system work the customer would be further ahead to just put a CV carb on !!!!!! HAPPY WRENCHING
It’s a lot more to it than just slapping on a carb. Conversion kit can be pricy. The injection is ran by the ECM. And if the leaky fuel lines are the fix then that’s great, cheaper, and it’s kept stock. Thanks for watching.

I love your Methodology Cant wait till the next Video. Keep up the Great work you are doing..
Thank you for your kind words.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!

I remember the outer shoe on an '09 didn't look bad but the inner shoe which was hard to see that was almost down to the cup in the spring....

@@butlercustoms Yes and it was in a hydraulic what was an '09 FLH The thing had about 45,000 on it
Fantastic knowledge, my friend ! Like it when I can follow along with the little bit of wiring. :)
Very best 🍁

@roamingearth915 same to you and yours! I’m sure the weather up there is a bit cooler.
Love your content. My first bike is going to be a Road King and your videos have been very informative.

Them fuel injection systems give Me the Hebejebies . I have never got into a injection system .
They can be a pain. Hopefully it is just a loss of pressure issue in that line.

I'm really happy with today video. We paid just over $3000. for the 🏍.
Wow! That’s a great deal! Looks like it’s going to be a nice riding bike. Can’t wait to take it down the road for a test ride.

I don’t know the history of this bike but someone took care of it in the past.
Maybe I missed it but I think that's it looks like it's the old maglietti mariani pain in the butt lol it fuel system
You are correct.

A carb bike is certainly easier. This bike has both a crank sensor and cam sensor.
@@butlercustoms wow I didn't know it had both of course I've never worked on those years

I think the issue was the type of material used in the OEM tensioners and that cam chain shoe. This bike has 31k miles on it.
would it be right to pull out the fuel pump fuse before test cranking the engine?
@@oleksasirotinin1532 I would if you were going to be cranking on it for a while, I would . But in this case I wanted to test the fueling system as well as the motor.

@oleksasirotinin1532 my pleasure. Thanks for watching and commenting!
2001 Road King touring . Magnetti Marelli fuel injection is junk .
Saving for a carburetor conversion kit .
When they’re good, they’re great. When they’re bad, they will drive you crazy.

I know I’ve done it 500.00 ing. I keep good CV carbs 50.00 and an intake 20.00 pringo adapter 75.00 HAPPY WRENCHING
