    There are a lot of us who wish the workingman could get ahead, including ourselves! The working poor can get ahead! If you are one of the people who has said this and wish you could get ahead? Just remember, this guy is one of us hard-working guys and he is not made of money and he is trying to get ahead. People we can get ahead if we work together! There are many foreign people that come to our country and people wonder why they get ahead? It’s not because the government gives them some break like people think! It’s because they come from a more oppressed area of the world and realize that they must work together to get ahead! Remember, this channel doesn’t have an unlimited budget behind it! People it Has to start somewhere! Support the working class if you are one of us! Have the courage to make things better for others and you will get it back three fold!!! Love the Channels Garth!! Congratulations on the Wedding!! Sending Love and good vibes!

    Two things you want to do to all LS engines when changing a cam is to replace the cam retaining plate (the old ones tend to leak oil pressure once removed and reused) and to tighten up the timing chain cover with the harmonic balancer installed to center the cover.

The only real issues I had with mine owning it since new was obviously the transmission failed, and in the back the plastic bed covers and rear glass started to leak but we’re talking a 20 year old truck before I got rid of it.

    What a peach! And that is about $1,200 or so worth of NICE parts.
    That "BFD" ( Big Foot's D#&@, Yes, that's really what they "named" it..)
    cam is one Texas Speed grinds on a real tight LSA so it sounds radical. You will likely need a higher than stock stall speed to be happy. If it were ME, for a daily, I'd flip it on marketplace and select a smaller grind, and keep the stock converter. Summit has some EXCELLENT grinds, such as their 8718 or 8719 Pro LS truck cams that are perfect for a daily that still return some significant power gains.
    Since You're pulling the motor, I'd throw a Melling M296 oil pump in while You're there.
    The original owner may have been planning to check the bottom end out ( likely totally unnecessary..) OR, He may have been planning to put a higher stall converter in to complement the camshaft He'd chosen.

    • @garthsgraveyardgarage
      @garthsgraveyardgarage  Год назад +1

      I actually just order a 3200 to 3500 racing stall converter to throw in it as it was listed as required for that cam setup 😁

    • @TurboDog73TX
      @TurboDog73TX Год назад +1

      @@garthsgraveyardgarage That's kool Garth, it's not TOO radical, it just sounds really rowdy. It will DEFINITELY make it run a LOT stronger than stock. It's just a bit soft down low, ( stall fixes that ), and won't really like to tow at all beyond a 2k-ish lb trailer.
      It will however be a lot of fun, and smoke the tires like a funny car with a solid tune and that stall, enjoy. Good series BTW.

    Oh, I almost forgot. I noticed while You were cleaning the heads that those are 706 castings. Look under where the rocker support rails bolt down, and see if there is an icon that looks like a car battery cast into them.
    IF there is, those are the CASTEK heads, and have been known to crack under where the head bolts seat. IF they are said heads, it would be wise to have them peessure tested, or at least give them a VERY through visual inspection for cracks. It seems if about every 15-20th or so set I deal with aee cracked. Just so You're aware if You didn't know.

    Critics tell you how you depart from perfection. They carry no implication that you are below average unless they say so. Many exceptionally talented and capable people remain subject to criticism. The bigger wrenching channels are incapable of reading and responding to all their comments and criticisms, which gives the small channels a major advantage and attraction as long as they can respond.
