- I built the first ever table from recycled newspaper and epoxy. Big thanks to NorthOne for partnering with us on this video! Use my link to apply for NorthOne and create a business bank account: bit.ly/Jonnybuilds
I laminated hundreds of sheets of newspaper with epoxy to create the first ever carved newspaper and epoxy table using a vacuum bag. The base is made from welded steel and walnut to create a vintage industrial design with an acme screw for an adjustable height top. I hope you enjoy the build.

Bet that table can tell a few stories.
😂😂😂😂😂
Good news! This wad a great build brother. Very unique!!!!
Old news
this is terrible i love it
😂
"What I need you to do is take this table, put it in your vehicle, take it home, and keep it forever because it's yours."
What a delivery.
The good news is I never get tired I'm watching you show me that we all make mistakes and we all get through. It's what trusting the process is all about. Thank you that's very inspiring. For a 71 year old who is just getting started in this
Good News - This is my absolute favorite build of yours so far
I was a print journalist. You took me down memory lane from reading newspapers as a kid to working in a newsroom. I remember the thrill of feeling the presses running from the basement. The best thrill was when my byline was on the front page lead. Fantastic table. Beautiful gift.
It was a "Good News" day for Ryan, awesome vibe of the old machinery feel.
I remember back when the first thing you did in the morning was read the paper. Good news or bad, that's where we saw it first. Set the tempo for the rest of the day.
Love the laminated table. I play with epoxy in my woodworking and it is so nice to see something other than a river table.
"Good news." "Kids, the Sunday paper is here."
Words remembered from my childhood from my lost but never forgotten father.
Shout out to all the fathers watching this on Father's day. Jonny Builds keeps me inspired to never stop those projects. Great build Jonny!
EXTRA, EXTRA! - Good News! Johnny Builds can continue. Those legs are wicked. Great build!
Good News everyone, Johnny sending me something special!!
“Good News” I was happily surprised when you gave the table to the reporter. Very noble gesture. Really love your videos. Keep up with the great work!
love that i seen this before getting to that part and getting that surprise spoiled!!
@@Minecraftchick1313 I’m so sorry. It was a honest mistake. It wasn’t my intention to spoil that. I was touched by his gesture and I wanted to congratulate him. Once again, I’m so sorry!
Good News! Everyone! Today our great professor have finished this beautiful table! I totally love it!
Good News, Jonny Trusted the Process and made another awesome table!!!
A person with tools and knows how to use them can build anything they want! Love it! ❤❤❤
"Good News" the 4th time was a charm and the base got built. This table is mesmerizing.
Good news, as a native Oklahoman I found your channel and absolutely love it.
My wife used to work in newspapers advertising. Not that long ago, she "retired" when our first was born 10 1/2 years ago. She had a superpower where she could name a paper and the parent company in every tiny town, and village in the country. She still has a weekend subscription to the NYT. It's a Sunday tradition, coffee, and the Sunday times. "Good News". The slow death of the physical paper seems to be pretty emotional for her.
Good news… watching you fling pieces across the shop without meaning to seems like something I am very capable of doing. I love your modify on the go. The machinist vibe on the legs and screw is great. I am sure that Ryan will charish the table for a very long time. Thank you for sharing!
it's always "Good News" when you figure out how to carry on after all the challenges that came up. Great project in the end. Good job Jonny!
Jonny you sly rascal! 🤣🤣🤣 Ryan wasn't expecting that! It's a great reminder to always be ready to give your art to the world so more great works can flow in and out! Awesome table.
Good news Jonny. Another great project, glad you gave it to the Newspaper guy!!!!!
It was amazing, just the shear "Out of the Box Thinking" to go beyond the limits, truly inspiring...."Good News"
Good news about continuing the channel! PS I'm in the UK, so much as I'd love a Wing IT shirt, the postage would be a bit high. Never mind. I'm 60, so ALL the nostalgia around newspapers and family Sundays!
Good News!! Reading the news paper was also something I enjoyed in the 90s in high school, enjoyed the section announcing anniversaries and all the stocks and their statuses
“GOOD NEWS” like this a lot… liked your description of the sharing of the Sunday paper… remember this as well.
Good News: THAT TABLE CAME OUT FANTASTIC!!! I especially love how that pattern you cut out created such reflections in the epoxy that contrasts with the dull color of the newspaper and the hundreds of layers of lines!
The stand was great too! (but I personally don't think it was meant for that table top.. but it still went well)
AMAZING WORK AS ALWAYS!
Beautiful table. I’m really glad you gave it to him. Not many people have a work of art that represents such a big part of their life and hard work.
"Good news!" Geez, see I remember farther back to when my brother's Boy Scout troop would have newspaper recycling pick-ups in town to make money. I have no idea how much they got per pound, but I remember the pick-up truck beds filled and our station wagon filled. They would do that newspaper pick-up twice a year. Oh yes, this would have been in the 70's. Great table Jonny and great gift!
Good news!! You took me back to my childhood and the “war” for the funny papers! 😂. Thank you!!
Good News that you continued to finish the table as I could not stop watching. Thank you for the awesome work. I wish we had so many options in South Africa to be able to create works of art.
"GOOD NEWS" That is an amazing table. Honestly the base and legs are my favorite part of it.
Good news, I really like this one. It brings me back to reading the paper everyday and like you the Sunday paper was the best part of the day!
I was a freshman in 96, I definitely know what you mean about the newspaper, brought back a lot of memories.
Dodging Tornadoes….that’s accurate!
The “Good News” is we have fewer tornadoes in Wisconsin than Oklahoma.
Another interesting project.
Thanks for sharing your work.
Thanks for sharing the build. Its nice to see that the pro's mess up as well. The key is to trust the process and not give up. Knowing when to walk away is probably another life skill to add to the toolbox. I love how the base turned out.
Well Jonny I'm one of your "older" subscribers who remembers using brown grocery store bags and funny papers as book covers! And its always Good News when one of your videos comes out. Also a fellow cabinet maker as well.
Good news, Jonny! i have a sewing project that i'm almost completely learning everything on, and winging it has been good to me so far!
“Good News” you gave me so much hope and encouragement as you powered through those CNC mishaps thank you Johnny
Good news! The poison slime pipes are flowing again.
Beautiful table. Love the industrial design, and that you were able to come around and solve it.
“Good News” Every build that I have seen create, has always been absolutely incredible!!!!
Good news everyone.
I like the retro industrial shape of the legs, and the walnut inserts really make them pop! Very cool work!
This is yet another awesome video. I love every time you do make a mistake because it gives me “pause” on my own projects that it’s “okay”. Spot on, on the paper and nostalgia. We used to deliver papers as a family for a couple of years that paid for a trip to Disney World and the Sunday delivery was MASSIVE but I still loved coming home when I was 10 to read the paper after making the morning route. Great video!
Good news. I really dig the base a lot. I like the vintage industrial Steampunk-esque vibe!
I used sit next to my dad in the mornings ray the funny pages as he read the sports. Thank you for bringing back those good news memories
Good news???? That was great news!!! Good job Johnny with the table and the giveaway!!! I miss the days of Sunday papers and fighting over sections. Much love and God bless from the UK!!
Good News ! Way to persevere throughout all of the failures! Thats what truly separates a woodworker with a great woodworker. Just trust the process!
That was a really nice thing to do... giving that newspaper table to a former newspaper man. Good on you!
Good News you got it on the 4th try... man I'm glad I'm not the only one that makes mistakes or does unsafe things every so often and then thinks "that was not the way to do that" and then tries doing it right. I can appreciate it not being all perfect in process and outcome because it shows you are a real person working in a real shop. I also commend the camera man for just letting it happen because if he had said "you sure you want to do it that way" I know you'd sat that or mention it on camera also. So thank you for the transparency!!
The Sunday comic's for book covers is a must. It looks so much cooler than the brown paper bag also you have something to read during class :-)
Good news ♥️ as someone the same age I love the whole explanation of newspaper in general!
Good news. I’ve worked in print my whole life. This is incredible.
Good news that you got it complete - really admire the perseverance!
"GOOD NEWS" If you watch this far,
I always watch your videos. They are absolutely awesome and I think you're extremely talented. Thank you so much for always sharing!. ❤❤❤ I have wonderful memories of reading the paper and the funnies with my grandma and pulling out all of the funnies to cover my textbooks for my junior high classes growing up thank you.
"Good news"
You are one of my favorite "Maker" channels on RUclips. I'm glad you didn't shut it down
Good news!!! Love the table!! Always good to see that professional woodworker succumb to disasters and still able to rectify the problem!!! Love it!!
GOOD NEWS!
Absolutely beautiful.
I think Ryan liked the Good News. Incredible build. So glad I found this channel, and then to find out you’re in OKC too. So cool.
Good news! I remember reading the funny pages of the Sunday paper. Great memories.
Good News
Loved the Comics pages growing up. Locally, we get these sorta books/magazines made out of the same newspaper material, they're usually full of ads for local businesses and other things. We got our guy who cleans the gutters and another guy who came and dug up the garden for us through it
Good news, your videos never disappoint me. I love that you captured the wood grain effect you wanted to show in the newspaper, it seriously turned out awesome!!
I love that you gave him the table. Good News!
Good News, I remember delivering the Daily Oklahoman Paper as a kid, The black Friday and Christmas Sunday papers were killer heavy but so fun to thumb through all the sales ads.
"GOOD NEWS " Love this table! My husband and I still pay for subscription and read the newspaper. I also worked in the local newspaper office when I was in high school. I have those days with quilting, woodworking and restoring antiques!
Good news it turned out, finally. I literally jumped with all those scares. 🔥🔥🔥
Good News! Looks REALLY nice! Got me feeling soft of nostalgic because of the newspaper as well.
Good news - Jonny keeps building. 😁 As someone who has those kinds of days (often it seems) I appreciate this video. You put in a huge amount of work on it. Very cool that you gave it to the reporter. 👍
Good news indeed. Wasn't in love with the pattern when I saw the thumbnail. And then you finished it. Spectacular.
Good News that fourth piece did not break. I will admit I did chuckle when it happened the third time. Your videos are entertaining and informative. Thank you for teaching and entertaining us all.
"Good News"
I'm disabled so it's not safe for me to use tools, especially power tools. So thank you for letting me live my woodworking, and metalworking, dreams through you (and other great makers).
Thank you from West Sussex, UK.
Good News. It's a good video. Thanks for taking the extra time and effort to film and share!
Good news! You trusted the process. The trouble you had with those legs is like me starting a new crochet pattern. Sometimes takes 3-5 tries before it comes out right!
You finally succeeded, that's definitely GOOD NEWS!!!
Good news! Love the industrial look. We’ve got a lot of the same newspaper memories. When my kids were toddlers we taught them to say, “See you in the funny papers.” When they were in elementary school they asked what it meant.
“Good News” that table is great! Super creative.
Good News! The finished table looks great, and you got it done without injury in spite of multiple near misses 😱
"Good News" the table is awesome and Johnny Builds rocks!
That's so freaking cool of you. You can see the gratefulness in guys eyes. I seriously wanna cry. Bro your a good hearted human bean see inspiring every day
Good news.
Love the table & LOVE the legs!!!
This.
Loving the table. Having had the oak split 3 times at the weekend when I did final assembly on new shelves for my wife, I feel your pain with the walnut breaking.
"Good news" I love watching you with the kids and that you didn't get hurt making the legs
Good news. I definitely remember those book covers! Loved making them
Good News
I'm also feeling pretty nostalgic for those Sunday comics now. Calvin and Hobbes, Family Circus, Garfield. Oh and ALWAYS browsing the animal sales listings looking for my potential next horse. 😂
So many memories back when my family actually sat down and spent some time together, even if it was just reading the paper.
Well (GOOD NEWS ) I’m so amazed who amazing this table looks it turned out beautiful the top the legs looks stunning I would put that in my house no problem at all amazing work Johnny keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing your talent with us all.
Very nice! I come from a family delivering newspapers all through 90’s, me included.
Good news. Thanks for sharing your project. Love the full transparency
GOOD NEWS. I'm glad you kept going and finished it!!!! It looks amazing!! And thank you for showing all the mess-ups. It shows us you only human and things can happen. Just keep going!!!!
23:36 hearing you talk about newspaper reminded me of my paper route. Sundays were the worst because they were so heavy! As far as book covers we used the paper grocery bags.
Good News. In the 1960’s, at the age of 17 I lasted two months as a newspaper reporter for ‘The Blaydon Courier’, a weekly paper covering local news and events. Look up the song ‘The Blaydon Races’. Unfortunately the chain bridge was demolished ☹️. I LOVE your table and your journalist friend is a lucky guy 🌞
Watching this content is like getting "good news" - it just makes you feel good.
I really enjoyed watching you create the table. "Good News" you made it through it and it looks great.
"Good News" Love the epic design for the base and would love to see what you will come up with on full size table... Legend keep up the good work
Good news! Love this! I grew up with the paper. Was so into the funny papers. Peanuts, Garfield, Beetle Baily, Cathy...
Good News. Looks good, glad you kept the textured top.
Good news - you proved trusting the process really works!
Love the uniqueness of this table, so different and beautiful. Glad you came up in my notifications.
Hello from Australia 🇦🇺, amazing work, and you inspired me to get back into the workshop after a long absence due to going through some tough times. This makes me so happy 😅 thank you.
Good News, Johnny managed to make a table leg that didn't immediately EXPLODE!!!! 😂 That table does look amazing. If you scaled it up a bit, to around a 4 seater table, you could also make 4 matching adjustable hight stools to go with it. That would be an awesome set of furniture 😊
GOOD NEWS!
Table top turned out better than I thought it would and the legs really tie it all together nicely! Fantastic job!
Really loved seeing the highs and lows of your process. It's good news you finished with something you liked. ;)
" Good News " is always trust the process!
