    Offcuts that have been in the pile for years are the reason I can fix things at home quickly without having to run to the hardware. Everything has a use one day

      Exactly. I tell myself that as long as I know where things are and I can find them when I need them, it's not hoarding.

      My late wife used to moan about all the offcuts and strips of wood I used to store in the roof of my shed . . . oddly, she never complained when they came in handy and saved us money!

    • @Iguana93
      @Iguana93 3 месяца назад +1

      @@theverseshed I guess there are a lot of us like this out there. :D People who don't fix things think you're quirky for storing away random things but then they are baffled that you can whip up an improvised solution to almost anything in minutes. :)
      I'll say I used to hoard more plastic thingies before I got a 3D printer with which I can model and make precisely what I need, but even so - pieces of metal, wood etc. are resources, not rubbish.

    Jonny, I love your attitude of "if the plan goes sideways just try something else". Using bits left over from previous adventures/experiments/projects is a lot of fun! I'm a sewist. My projects are all fabric based and the fun part is the design. When the plan goes sideways I just try something else 😀

    This would look really awesome at my house in Brazil!
    About 15-16 years ago I spent a couple of months helping my roommate's step-father in his shop in FL while he was undergoing cancer treatment, he was a career carpenter and we got to build some pretty cool stuff together, including work on a Velocity airplane. All that work got me really interested in wood working, hopefully I'll do that as a hobby in the future.

    Dear Jonny,
    You are demonstrating a significant level of trust in the premise that your furniture will not share space with dogs, kids or clumsy adults. Some folks might have joined the top and base with a process that used the word "recessed" in the description. It's your show and your creation so of course it's also your choice but, I suggest that you pack a bottle of glue and an admonition against nails and screws with the table when you send it out.
    Love your show. Thank you for sharing.
