You are right Jarad. Catching a fish when you go fishing is a plus. Just being in the water or even bank fishing can be relaxing and memorable if you let it.
Thanks for the video keep them coming and it was a new journey for you out that far. If nothing else it's relaxing and peacefully. I can hardly wait until I'm able to get back out there if only to watch due to my medical conditions. It's been a long year and a half but watching your videos keeps me optimistic and relaxed. Thank you in more ways than you know
I have to agree with mark kar. I've been here 43 years and that's a pretty true statement about east winds. I'm taking a bet who is going to get a boat first. You are Nick?. You said you checked out all the information before you went out. Here is a tip, the gulf this time of year is unpredictable. I've been offshore on a flat day and had to run in because it got so bad. Pop up storms happen almost instantly out there. That sends small choppy conditions inland.
Nice..I was skunked last week too at the jetties with good condition...always happend. Love you're videos been following them more than a year and a half keep at them bro....Oooorah
Hi Mark I pretty much saltwater fish out of Dana Point, CA. If I’m heading out a mile or more, when I look at the marine weather report I have a good look at the period between swells, swell height, and sea state. Shorter periods pretty much make for sucky conditions. Sometimes swell height does too. If the period is long them you may be ok with the height. If the periods are close it’s not worth heading out. Windy conditions usually means going to be wet ride. If I’m fishing just off the beach I have a look at the surf report. A crappy surf report means shitty surfing but usually great conditions for drift fishing down the beach. It’s all about the period between swells 👍
Perfectly stated. We have some of the nastiest surf all year round. When we get those occasional calm days we try to take advantage of them. I know I don’t have the proper kayak for offshore fishing and it’s why I rarely go out there.
I was out at the North Jetty yesterday protected from the North Wind but things got a little choppy as well and no bites at all got a good workout paddling back in though.
Appreciate the good information. What is the distance considered to be offshore on a kayak from where you launched?, and if you can please suggest where to learn about the frequency on swells? Thank you again for sharing your knowledge! Stay safe!🙏👍🔥🔥
@@Reelimpactoutr East wind on a in coming tide sure pushes a lot of water in Christmas bay. I always do pretty good at the edge of the deep gut at Rattlesnake point and the surrounding oyster reefs.
Very well said. I do realize that none of the kayaks I have ever owned were or are well suited for offshore fishing. It’s a primary reason why I rarely venture out there.
Those lanyards only serve to get in the way and tangle things up. I’m taking a big chance of losing everything if I make a bad decision. But I’ve always tried my absolute best to keep my head on a swivel.
Quick suggestion. I'd buy a couple of pair of those sun sleeves with your logo on them. Can your machine do that? They would look good with my T-shirt I bought from you.
@@MDLRFishing I'll buy the first two pair of sleeves you make and give you feedback about them. My order will be two logo shirts and two pairs of sleeves.
First! Serious question though, where is the best place to find what beaches, and jetties are open? I'm trying to take my wife saltwater fishing tomorrow but all the jetties piers that I know are either closed until next weekend or closed during the weekend.
Any one know I'd the jetties are officially shut down? I was there today and or was stupid packed. They got shut down after I left. There was so many people at the beach.
Mark if you go open water off shore why wouldn’t you try at least to mix more bottom fishing on bait. Outside water there is much more swell, more depth and less water’s clarity often times, bait fishing can be more productive than lures in those cases.
Because I hate catching trash fish. 😂 I’d rather get skunked than catching those type of fish. Plus there’s really not much of a challenge for me when using live bait. It’s not a style of fishing that I enjoy doing. Every so often I will use live bait.
MDLR Fishing fair enough Mark your call. I am not from or close to your area, you probably know better Mark. I guess you are following or heard about the “ThresherFishing” guy on RUclips. I think his name is Copper a young fellow. He catches nice big fish (mostly from the Jetty though ) on live shrimps or from his platform.
I love the Outback for calm Texas inshore fishing. But it takes on way too much water when swells constantly push over the bow. The best thing Hobie can do is design a better hatch for a $3,000 + plastic kayak.
Fact. Somewhere in the lake or ocean or bay 24 hours a day something is always feeding. Fish do not care about wind only fisherman do. They have to eat. The prob isnt that they are not biting its that we cant present it the way they wanna eat it. Well bass anyway lol!
Some of my most memorable days fishing I caught no fish. It's about the journey not the destination. Thanks for the upload.
Thanks 🙏

Thank for the kind words. It’s such a heartfelt compliment.
Thanks for always posting! I always feel like i can't post a "skunk" video. Feeling better about them now! Tight lines!
It’s a part of fishing 🎣

I got caught in a pop up storm yesterday. It wasn’t forecasted and ended my day quickly. Very unpredictable weather in Spring.

I was on the jetties Tuesday when y’all went out. It’s good to know Im not the only one getting skunked lol
😂
It happens.. like they say a bad day of fishing beats a good day at work. ! Fish on Mark
Will do!
I was out at the North Jetty yesterday protected from the North Wind but things got a little choppy as well and no bites at all got a good workout paddling back in though.
The North jetty is a great spot but that small boat cut is nerve racking.

not sure. I called it offshore but it honestly isn't offshore fishing. I just didn't have a better word to describe it.
Hey Markyboy, there's an old saying I learned from my grandpa...when the winds from the east the fishings the least...it's almost always true
thanks for the tip.
I learned that from my dad about 40 years ago.
MDLR Fishing East least West the beast !
Not true for me I like an east wind.

Saw you out on the water today, keep up the videos man!!!!
Thanks buddy!
Will that trolling motor bluetooth connect to the Minn Kota Heading Sensor so you can use the Spot Lock Jog feature?
It will not.
MDLR Fishing That sucks it's really useful fishing for sheepshead.
It’s all good Mark. Nice vid bud.

Love these videos
thank you!
I like keep watching your video, but what’s kind the app do you use to watch for weather or windy out the beach?
Marine weather app
What is your mode of propulsion? I didnt see you kick a pedal
Trolling motor
Hey Mark, great channel, love your videos! I’m curious with all that nice gear why you’re not using any rod leashes or floats?

Hey mark what weather app do you happen to use? Thanks 👍🏻🎣👍🏻 quit wishing and start fishing.
I caught a 27 in red yesterday, same conditions Whenever their is a crazy wind find the pockets and the drains!!
Got it. Great job on bringing in that stud of a Redfish!
@@MDLRFishing I stole that info from you,lol thanks for all the help. Keep those lines tight.
Where do you get your buoy info from?
Marine app
Saturday at crystal was dead all day.The water was surprisingly cold still
Thanks for info, makes the sting a little easier 😂
Watched his vid in his pumpkin outback and I must say STICK 2 LAKE FISHING buddy
Why did you go with the smaller kayak ? Just wondering
It was gifted to the channel from Old Town.
Hey Mark, can you mention to BUGGSfishing that they should get an amazon page? It’s a bit obnoxious having to order everything from their website.

Hi 👍

Only Surfside is open right now. Quintana and south are closed
Matagorda Beach opened up this past Friday
Oops skunk but as you say, weather on paper and at the area.... Anyways hope we all get better weather.

Yes Thresher is a spectacular fishing content creator on RUclips. He uses a mix of lures and live bait.

Hey mark do you still have any of the kayaks ? I don’t have fb so I couldn’t get a hold of you there
Yes, my Old Town Autopilot 120.
MDLR Fishing but the one(s) you had for sale
I only have the Autopilot now. The others have been sold.
You ever go down to Rockport or Port Aransas?
I have been but not as much as i'd like to. Hopefully I'll be able to travel more soon.

not sure because I haven't had a chance to use the 136. I'm sure i'd like the 136 more because of the extra space.
