Ironically even though you didn’t catch much these jetty videos are some of my favorite. The grind, watching how you just grind even when you know it’ll be a tough day.
Dude, nice meeting you and thanks again for the Old 18 Cat Shot rod! Going to pair with a Daiwa BG 4000 with 300 yards of 40lb j-braid for intense jetty action! After you left winds picked up to about 10mph and some folks came in with live shrimp cleaning up sheepshead in the corner, two slot reds and a 20 inch trout. Till next time!
Great video Mark! Those cow nose rays come with a price. I foul hooked one last year and it broke my $300 rod. So I guess the price is the rod you caught it with. lol
I was out there this past Friday, targeting Spanish Mac but ended catching 3 gafftops and something like 5 sandtrouts. Didn't get what I wanted but being out there was fun.
Yesterday afternoon I went out to the Port O'Connor jetty. Bait fish were all over, birds, dolphins and fish were all over them. I hooked into two large Jacks, lost a rod to another Jack ??? that hit a spoon while I was fighting a jack on another rod.
I know this video is old but it's been Dead out there since the end of June. I've been out every morning hoping they move back in, Reds, Spec's, etc. But nothing! I caught 1 16" Spec in the Channel side next to the weather station structure but that's it. July thru June? I was limiting out in 10min or less on Huge Spec's using the Corky Fattie Texas Chicken Lure. If there's Spec's in the water? They'll smoke that lure or the MirrOdine 17, Pink on top w/ yellow bottom
I'm not a good trout fisherman but I do know that guides always have their clients use live shrimp on a popping cork. Just find shell and moving water.
@@MDLRFishing by the way recieved 2 Salt Native 1oz spoons today from shop karls...seen your video check out the webite..didnt buy the mad minnow..going to check out surfside sat and try to land some smacks

I hated the situation, man what a crazy time trying to release it.
Fished on the SPI jetties today, they're nowhere near as flat as those. Sheepshead were on though, good day
super windy today
Thumbs 👍 your side kick for the day is 2 cool 😎
😎
MDLR, thanks for saving the 'ray.
That's was a good gesture bro so cool.
👍
I snagged a smooth butterfly ray bouncing a spoon along the bottom. Hooked him right in the eye socket. Pretty close to the same size as yours.

That's wild.
DANG! Sorry about the luck.
Welp it’s good to know that the clickbait shrimp works off of jetties cause I just got some at the fishing show and looking forward to using them
Buggs are awesome. I'm experimenting with the Trout Thumper in the surf for trout
What kind of of shoes do you use on those slippery rocks at the jettys
Simms Flyweight Boots with HardBite cleats
A bummer day...however, still enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I was trying to find your camera setup video with batteries but I couldn't find it or the title
Action Hat
Still good time, I was there before 9 also.
Hook it in the back and you have best trout bait in galveston bay....thats what you call a grunt. Pb trout on one a few years back 9.36lbs
Nice PB
Never fun snagging a ray, you did a good job with it
It was a taxing experience for sure.
