Dude, Janet Jackson is legendary record breaking and still has a legion of loyal fans. She's still hot to look at and listen to. This album is pure magic and amazing. I love it and her

I honestly love this album. It's a great addition.
I agree with your review for the most part. But much of what you're saying is a bit misinformed. 97's "The Velvet Rope" is actually regarded as one of her best (if not her best) work yet, waaayy more than '93's jane. Even "All For You" got favorable reviews, despite Janet taking a dip in quality musically, when it was released. "Broken Hearts Heal" is actually about Michael, not "After You Fall". The lyrics actually talk about their childhood and when they grew up together. Also, Janet has never been solely an R&B artist, she's both pop and R&B. "Rhythm Nation" and especially "All For You" were more pop albums than any other genre. But still a fair and enjoyable review.

+Spectrum Pulse Have you taken a listen to The Velvet Rope recently? Like the whole thing. It's a masterpiece, and a tour de force of artistic expression. Tracks like What About? Free Xone and Empty were super controversial for the time, but I think we understand them better now.
Janet Jackson is definitely more of a pop artist than R&B...
And The Velvet Rope was (and still is) highly regarded as one of her best.

I agree. Love this review! Her track someone to call my lover seemed to begin a bit if a rollercoaster ride for her.
Oh, and "Black Eagle" is about Colored People, not her husband or what's going on in the Middle East.
Always confuses me that folks think Janet is straight up R&B, like she’s Mary J or something. She has always been VERY pop with R&B leanings.
Have you even heard The Velvet Rope album? One of the greatest album of all time and is a blueprint album and janet the queen of pop not R&B Janet is legendary
Since The Velvet Rope is Janet's best album by a long shot why did you not include it in what you see as her three gold standard records?

We all have opinions about this or that about celebrities.I love Janet, she's incredible to watch and she's always doing things differently.You really don't get that much now.She brings that and her own style and creative brand of music that you get attached to, something different and not what somebody else did or is doing.This lady is a true I innovator,sings,dance,acts and so much more.All she's been through still bringing it as she did in the 80/90's,concerts,and looking,sounding great.I love the album and hope to get more in the near future.She has her own label now so they can't stop this Queen,honey.
Duuude, if you're gonna review an album, please check your facts. You said "After You Fall" was about Mike, when "Broken Hearts Heal" was the "Mike" song. "Shoulda Known Better" was a reflection on Rhythm Nation 1814. And how could you not point out the awesome nods to Mike on The Great Forever and Shoulda Known Better, where she used some of his more iconic singing ticks? I could go on, but really, what's the point? Disappointing review.
How bout After You Fall? That was great too. Janet was more vocal to that song. Anyways amazing review!

Thank you for giving this album a fair and balanced review! Even if there are a few songs I'm a bit whatever on too (we agree on broken hearts heal) it's still WAY less filler than most pop/R&B these days. And the songs that are good are really good. It's awesome to see a superstar come back and actually give us something interesting! I'm actually surprised more RUclips reviewers aren't reviewing it. It's number one in the States and Canada. Anyway thanks for reviewing and love the channel!

4TheLoveOf Beyoncè I was actually referring to Madonna's Rebel Heart. I'm pretty sure only hardcore Madonna fans even remember it came out this year with how little impact it had.
mariokarter13 Janet's didn't have much of an impact either. I think they should both stop making new music and just stick to singing old hits. Both icons haven't done anything good in years.
I Am A Material Girl No Sleeep was a minor hit, Bitch I'm Madonna was barely a blip on the charts' radar. Looking at their respective albums I think it's safe to say Janet understands her place in today's music industry while Madonna is in complete denial.
