    This camo pretty much works anywhere in any season. Surprisingly very effective in summer. No wonder the north Vietnamese army primary used this basically same color despite the dominatly green jungle like environment of Vietnam.

      I don't know, for a human sized target and lighting conditions, Brent stood out pretty hard to me. Animals have a tendency of having broken shaped due to fur and all. If Prone, yeah, but upright, the camo stands out.

      The primary and official PAVN uniform colour was green, which makes sense in lush jungles, although a variety of colours including khaki were also used. What surprise me more is why temperate nations standardised on green for camouflage, going back to dark green for 18th-19th century skirmishers up to the solid OD and green dominant patterns until Multicam became widespread in recent years. It seems like medium brown-grey would be more versatile for year around use to blend with soil and bark.

  • @Tier1Norseman

    They should make a split pattern of just OD and Coyote. I think it would work well. Just have offset colors on the kit.

      I often wear a coyote brown windbreaker anorak with a medium green loop scarf and a sage green knitted hat and jungle green or brown pants turing wintertime... I found that I dent to disappear into the landscape quite well while most people don't think much of it because they do not see it as wearing camouflage. It looks quite civilian and does the job.

    In some of these shots I'm like "that spot looks weird that has to be him" and sure enough you move from that spot. The thing is that the camo is that the light contrast makes you look like some sort of tree debris that doesn't have a definite shape like the OD made. If I was walking by I would think "what is that" but because I have seen many weird looking things in forests I would probably just move on. This camo also tended to seemingly cast its own shadows which breaks up the uniform coloring. Quite impressive for a one color camouflage.

    • @rustyshackleford17
      @rustyshackleford17 9 лет назад +10

      KH990j Even dark grey is pretty decent as a camo if you're in a busy environment. But most camos will fail you if you move

    • @KH990j
      @KH990j 9 лет назад +5

      I've heard of that, and it makes me wonder if CSA troops might have had some advantage over Union troops in terms of blending in to the terrain in the day.
      Movement is really what destroys the camo's effectiveness. Even the best camos can't help someone with that unless they are very far away or in a highly dense area where people are not actively looking for someone. Snipers barely make any movement and it can take days for them to travel around a combat zone because of the minute movements they make and the constant change of indigenous materials.

    • @gunterstraus606
      @gunterstraus606 6 лет назад +2

      KH990j the CSA didn't really apply tactics that would see it taking too much advantage of that until later on in the war, which is also when they started to have uniform shortages. The Yanks marksmen units would wear green uniforms and non-reflective button at least.

    Thanks a lot for posting this, I have really been looking forward to this one. Coyote tan is without a doubt one of the best concealment colors out there, weather you are wearing it in the desert on the beach or in the woods you are practically a ghost, from 1:50 - 2:05 I thought you were a log. The thing that I like the most about one color combat fatigues is that they are effective a all distances they don't black blob like many camo patterns do. Sometime this spring or summer you should make a video on coyote tan's effectiveness in a green dominant environment. Keep up the great work I can't wait to see what else you have planned, and thank you for serving.

    Coyote tan kicks ass, in my opinion it's the most effective so far and dare I say it coyote out performs OD. I personally think the military should abandon camouflage altogether and just go back to solid color fatigues. For over a decade now they have wasted million's of dollar's trying to improve their camo and and so far every new pattern the have come up with has been ineffective. Camouflage actually has more disadvantages than advantages the colors and shapes of a camouflage pattern are more noticeable to the human eye than a solid background, and most patterns are only effective when stationary. Where as OD and coyote provide more camouflage to the wearer when both stationary and mobile this was shown to be true in WW II so why not go back to one Colorado fatigues. But thanks for uploading this one it's by far my favorite, I can't wait to see what else you have in store.

    The color blends well - but I found that after the first segment, I was spotting you almost every time in just a second or two - even in the bright areas where the coyote totally blended with the color of the environment, the big blob of one color made you stand out - in many cases you looked like a big dry dirty rock - but that had you out of place surrounded by woody debris or grass - and even in the creek bottoms it didn't look "right" even though it blended well. I think that your attire would do very well against casual observations or people not actively looking for another person. A random hiker or passer by would likely not notice you at all, but it seems that someone actively searching for you would notice you right away. I think even a two or three color pattern to break up the monotony of the tan would conceal very well.

      @sylaconnocalys8443 2 года назад +2

      @@devinlindberg253 I came up with the same conclusion from watching all these test videos. One single camp pattern is much less effective than a few different ones together. Plus, the benefit of wearing a green top with brown pants is that if you need to ditch your gear, your outfit won’t look out of place in a civilian setting. Multicam helmet and plate carrier, with old green shirt and coyote brown pants would be my pick.

    Coyote tan was extremely effective, I don't know why our military has wasted billions of dollars trying to improve our camo when 9 times out of 10 solid color earth tone uniforms provide more concealment to the wearer when both stationary and mobile.

      Well one reason why they do these things is so it can essentially work as a identification method
      Between an Allied force and OpFor.
      So they pretty much go the extra mile and say "hey if we're gonna try and make our uniforms identifiable then let's make it effective and unique"

    • @StevenTheAristolianNerd
      @StevenTheAristolianNerd 4 года назад +5

      Camo breaks the silhouette better than solid colors. The military has put time and testing to this they have reasons and uses for patterns. However take the ACU, it was rushed and changed from brushtroke to digital, then it wasn't approved by troops. It was fielded anyways, so yeah sometimes solid colors do better, but not always.

    Out of all your scenes, I missed you in only four. I spotted you quickly in the other scenes. The straight lines of you legs, upper arms, or rounded back gave you away in all the other scenes. I'm convinced that multiple color camouflage schemes hide us better. During my basic training, a coupe drills sergeants talked against a backdrop similar to some of yours, but with a bit more green. They wore the standard winter weight woodland BDU. Their distance was 50 yards or so from me. All I saw were their Caucasian faces and hands. For me in Arizona, the current Army issue camouflage pattern (OCP) looks to be the best compromise for most areas, except in the areas with a lot of sage and green bushes; in those; I might go with with the Propper ACU during summer.

    One collour and still pretty hard to spot. Our Olive green uniformen in the 80th had more or less the same effect. I still have a picture of me laying with the MAG in ambush in a field and though the picture is taken from nearby I'm rather hard to defect, even without foilage or other camo to break my outlines. Olive green was often in multiple shades because we could have a newer jacket combines with an old pair of trousers and an other shade of webbing so it was still nog one big blob of green in a field.

  • @jackdroog3243
    @jackdroog3243 10 лет назад +1

    Coyote looks effective it's a bit like OD green it is quiet to the eyes so it does not atrackt your attention so much. As said the OD greens used to fade after a while which made them much more effective. Movement gives any camo away but as I see with the Flecktarn and DPM's etc, they show a very distinct dark shade, while the coyote are not atrackting that attention. Also when it rains all darker camo's become to dark being a black blur all the time coyote might suffert less of that effect. Wonder how this would work in a green environment, will you do a vid on that?

      Thanks man, Some desert patterns are effective in a woodland environment in the fall/winter but I really don’t think desert MARPAT is that great in this environment. It's hands down a superb desert pattern in the environment it was designed for (desert). Some desert patterns are effective in this fall/winter woodland environment and others aren’t. 6 color desert and desert tiger stripe are two that I think work very well here, however 3 color desert and desert MARPAT are patterns I think are exclusively desert patterns.

    Does anyone know where I can find solid "coyote brown" that's more like the brown in Woodland Marpat's brown. Any solid brown I can find is too much a sand color or is "chocolate brown" which may as well be black it is so dark.

    • @vassilizaitsev7664
      @vassilizaitsev7664 9 лет назад

      Mark Stuber No problem. The SA attitude is brown year-round, and that a couple of days of rolling around in the terrain of the season and getting dirty will make the camouflage fit the environment. It's kind of dark when new, but fades into a nice medium brown. It's cheaper than a new set of BDU's if you look hard enough for it.

    • @vassilizaitsev7664

    Lol, and some folks laughed at me when I chose carhartt jacket and overpants for my "winter layering" in my bug out bag. After years in the "deer woods", if you haven't figured out that Carhartt hunters blend better than mossy oak hunters, it's because you can't tell what color the deer is.

    • @satanhunter6092
      @satanhunter6092 4 года назад

      @winstonS Yup, but, I'm more concerned with being eaten by wild animals while hunting than I am someone mistaking me for a deer because they can't see the bright, florescent orange vest you are required to wear while hunting. But, this topic isn't about hunting animals of any kind, is it?

    • @Brent0331
      @Brent0331  10 лет назад

      We’ll if you’re not going to edit your video you can upload your video the way it is once you pull it from your camera. If you want to edit your video you’ll need editing software, you might already have something on your computer like “windows live movie maker”, that has basic editing stuff you can do to your video. I use Adobe Premiere elements, it takes a little more up top to work with that though, so if you’re a novice it might be a little over your head. With that being said though there are plenty of RUclips videos on how to work with the stuff and everyone has to learn at some point.

      Can’t say that’s in the near future UT, those kryptek patterns are still really expensive and I can more diligently allocate that money to ammo :). I still have a lot of misc. patterns to occupy my time right now. Maybe once I get through all of them I’ll break down and buys some. I just finished East German rain pattern & British desert DPM yesterday, I’m thinking about doing Alpenflage and 3 color desert but not sure how well those two will actually preform. In the spring I want to do ATACS FG, Flecktarn, CADPAT, & DPM.
