  • Metallic Red and Gold - Cataphractii Terminators painted in one evening. This video is a step by step guide on how to achieve a similar paint job. I also talk about why setting a time limit when painting a miniature can result in a new tool in your hobby toolbox. Finally, I have no idea what happened to my hair in the opening shot but I can assure you it has not fallen off.

    Fantastic video! That red looks great and I'm confident the battle between Ninjago, Dinosaurs, and Space Marines will be legendary. I agree with setting a time limit too, I make sure I don't go over 2hrs unless I'm invested in what I'm painting but I think 2hrs is perfect to prevent boredom because once that sets in the fun begins to fade fast
    Great video Alex

    I landed here thanks to the joint Midwinter Minis podcast, and have no regrets at all. I pounced on this particular video as I am planning a Marine army colour scheme, and was about to try something similar with a chrome base, but the gold looks so much better!

    I just stumbled upon this video, and your channel, from a recommendation on the RUclips homepage, and I've already subscribed after watching this masterpiece. The cinematography, the immaculate script and narration, the lesson to be learned by the end of the video- it's unlike any other piece of miniature painting content I've ever seen. I amazed everytime I see a kid who is willing to let his father paint some minis for him. My boys are insatiable with the demand to paint more, even given one of them is not the most artistic. At any rate, these look great!

  • @jamesespinosa690
    @jamesespinosa690 10 месяцев назад +1

    Hey guys!! I just want to push back a bit. If you're using rattlecans, I would still recommend you basecoat your mini's first. The rattlecans don't always adhere properly to bare plastic. The rattlecans also do go in and out of production, and have their formula's changed relatively often. So if you've found a colour you really like and expect to be working on the same army/project for more than a couple years, I would recommend you pick up maybe half a dozen cans and store them in a dark cupboard!
    Thanks for the vid though 52! Great work!

      A good place to start experimenting is silver for cool colours and gold for warm. But mainly try and think of a colour wheel and think of gold as yellow. What happens when you add yellow to blue or to green for example.

    i think they came out really nice, the gold priming gave the red colour a nice metallic look. i will definitely try that out.
    and as someone who rarly plan out my painting sessions and only goes in with a general idea, i do think it is good to make a plan and set a time for how long you will paint. i have tried it once or twice and when i look back on it i can see that i got more made then compared to when im just sit down with a general idea.
