That was very much a surprise to see Joan in good light, wasn't it? All of this scene is great and perfect and very likeable.
It shows a side of the Freak that is rarely seen, a softer gentler side. So, it makes her more multi-dimensional, and not as one-sided as people see.
Wow, never knew the Freak was ever like this before. She was actually kind and loving? Ain't that a hoot?
Wow imagine what a sweethart the freak would have been if Audrey hadn't died lol.

Audrey was Joan's "lover" but they had to keep it quiet but someone found out and that's how she died.
You got to see her kinder side when her father was around and she looked after a little boy, and there was a little girl too I cant remember her name she was a neighbour and I think the mother ended up inside after killing her husband and Joan look after her for a while too
You're right robby2k. What's so sad that The Freak never tried to find love with someone else. You know if it were today, The Freak would be a Cougar (An Older Woman who has younger companions). On the US Soap Opera Guiding Light the characters of Olivia and Natalia are 11 Years apart and The Town Mayor who was in The Closet had a Girlfriend at least 15 Years her Junior.
