As a child I loved watching this show with my mom and dad , God rest they soul😢😢 , times was so much nicer and ppl was nicer , oh God how I miss the old days😢
Brings back so many memories of watching this program with my dad.. hes still alive been given terminal cancer I shall always thank him for letting me stay up a young lad watching this amazing tv show, will always play music like this and be happy with the quality time I have spent with my father, 🙏
I am from UK and my late dad introduced me to PCBH when I was maybe 7....I'm now 40 and couldn't love it more. I can't tell you how many hundreds of thousands this song has broken my heart. Cheers to everybody in this day in age who loves it like ì do xxx
You're not alone in this; it makes me cry when I hear it too. Have missed this show for a very long time. Wentworth's good (the new version), and what caught my attention was that Jacks was singing this song when they tossed Bea into the solitary cell beside her..... but I miss the original. Such an awesome show.
This show came to America in the early 1980s. I was about 16, and had just met my wife in high school. I had several girlfriends and was considered a stud back then, but in the end I married my wife. But when I listen to this song I think back then and I remember so many things that still resonate today:going to prom, hanging out at the neighborhood Pizza Hut with my homies, going to the neighborhood arcade and sneaking my wife in my bedroom. I remember going to friends house parties with my wife and slow dancing to all those great 80s slow dance songs. Remembering this song brings back all those memories, and it kinda hurts because those days are gone. And in many ways I realize that the love me and my wife shared back then may be gone as well.
My grandmother loved this series so much, we watched it together and i also fell inlove with it, the song has been playing in my head lately after so so many years, a came here looking for this song and found all the episodes have been uploaded here on YT, im shook.. I miss my gran so so much and this just took me back to when she was alive, thank you for this❤
'Prisoner' was a big part of my childhood in the 80's and now my daughter is loving it thanks to reruns and dvd's. Everyone needs a Lizzie in their life :P
I was a kid, 10 yrs, the first time that I ever saw a prisoner, I used the sneak while my mother was sleeping to watch it. I miss the show and Queen Bee.
Wow incredible video montage and such a beautiful song. This really moved me - in fact I'm crying so much. So many memories of me and my family watching the show. Thank You so much for posting this ❤
I so still love this , reminds me of wed arvo gigging pe , nick off to Nana's and arrive in time to start watching. Cordial and baked scones or a lammington. Still miss ya Nana but thanks for the value
KIND OF SAD WHEN THE GOVERNOR WAS OUTSIDE WHEN LIZZY GOT RELEASED AND DOREEN WAS NOT THERE TO PICK HER UP AND THE GOVERNOR SAT WITH HER AND THEN DROVE HER OVER TO DOREENS PLACE.
An epic period in Australia tv with a great cast. Many no longer with us. I wish I could go back. Look at the pap now; Married at First Sight, Batchelor, Love Island. The Block etc. Slappers and Steroid Monkeys that are called ‘celebs’
I watched the original series in the 70'S then it was replayed on Foxtel in 2015 I was shocked at the amount of episodes I had missed due to having my first baby. Last year In 2016 I watched the new version called Wentworth lit was one of the best mini series made sad to see the ending. Now I have the 2017 series due in April can't wait
My favourite Australian TV series...and my favourite Australian theme song....tho this TV series had suspense and some interesting and sometimes evil characters it was all worth watching and waiting for the next episode...to see all the inmates upto their usual shenanigans sometimes the inmates would play mouse then sometimes they would play the cat...in one episode when Leanne Burke dies and the inmates do a riot... almost killing Erica and maiming Vera in the process.

He used to give me roses, I wish he could again; But that was on the outside, And things were different then. On the inside the sun still shines, And the rain falls down; But the sun and rain are prisoners too, When morning comes around. Last night i dreamed we were together, Sharing all the love we've known; Til i had to face the nightmare, Of waking up alone. On the inside the sun still shines, And the rain falls down; But the sun and rain are prisoners too, When morning comes around. On the inside the roses grow; They don't mind the stoney ground; But the roses here are prisoners too, When morning comes around. Lovely sad. TIMELY
Beautiful song sad setting
Great show and great theme by lynne hamiltion which got to number 3 in 1989.
It got to Top ten in 1979, not 1989
wentworth prison has just started woo hoooo!!
I was so sad when Bea left
pretty good series
Anybody wanted to cry? I think I was 10 years old (before life happened to me) watching this series. 😔
A gritty edgy show, finished with such a beautiful song.
I don't think I could get past this opening to watch the show. The song is so emotional and beautiful I'd probably get depressed and turn it off.
I watched this was my mum so yeah it makes happy and sad xoxo
When I was inside and getting gang bashed during riots I used to hum this song while my head was getting smashed repeatedly into the floor.
This show paved the way for orange the new black many years later
He used to give me roses,
I wish he could again;
But that was on the outside,
And things were different then.
We'd built our world together,
With a love so clear and strong;
But that was on the outside.
Where did i go wrong?
On the inside the sun still shines,
And the rain falls down;
But the sun and rain are prisoners too,
When morning comes around.
Last night i dreamed we were together,
Sharing all the love we've known;
Til i had to face the nightmare,
Of waking up alone.
On the inside the sun still shines,
And the rain falls down;
But the sun and rain are prisoners too,
When morning comes around.
On the inside the roses grow;
They don't mind the stoney ground;
But the roses here are prisoners too,
When morning comes around.
He used to give me roses,
I wish he could again;
But that was on the outside,
An things were different then.
Smoking hash loved it lol.
Erika Davidson was by far the best Governor, EH?
Definitely! Davo all the way!
U know it!!!!👍👍👍
I'm only 30 and I'm pretty confident this song will be played at my funeral.. Says it all... And my favorite was Erica.. But it's a very close call
B smith was the boss!! No messing with her!
Mark Flack Bea Smith on Wentworth was the boss, you know, red hair chick.
Not when she got sent to Barnhurst. The "Freak" sorted her out 🤣🤣
