This song brings memories of my late mother, who loved this song and the show for which it acted as a theme song. She's been gone for under a year now and this song calms me when I miss her. I'll always love this song for that.
Its the same for me but with my beloved granny Madge we used to watch prisone cell block h when I was a young girl and I used to play this on her record player ❤️❤️🤗🤗

So sorry for your loss lots of healing hugs this reminds me of my nanna when she was alive my mum would never let us stay up to watch it but my nanna always told her to let us do what we want (within reason) because she said one day the time spent as a family will be a memory and she would miss family time and would give give anything to sit and enjoy time together oh boy how right was she xx

I watched Cell Block H in the 80's as a teenager and loved it, little did I think I'd do nine years in prison later on in life. And come out to set up an organization to help those ostracized to rebuild their lives. Prayers please for all inmates worldwide that they will again see the roses grow outside as I do once again.

It's taken me 44 years to appreciate this song - as a kid these credits stood between Prisoner & WWF Wrestling on Channel 10 late on Wednesday nites 😂

I met Lynne Hamilton at a signing when Coles in Bourke Street in the 70s had everything including a dedicated section for stylis repair and signings from superstar musicians at the time. I still have the 45rpm with Lynnes signature to this day. I was like 6yrs old. Best memories and cherished but sadly missed times.❤💔

Still remember when originally came out when Prisoner Cell Block H first aired in 1979. Fond memories even after all this time. So much so I'm reliving and watching from the very start. It's like I've never been away. Recognised n remembered characters n storylines from the off 🎉🎉

Prisoner Cell Block H was always on on Sunday and Monday nights. When i used to hear it from my parents' TV downstairs, i used to get sad because the next day was Monday and i had work to go to. On Monday nights i felt better, having done the first day of yet another week of work. And it was great to hear it on Sundays and Mondays when i was on holiday from work.
I first heard this song when I was locked in a cell at 13 years old in a girls home run by the government before I went there I met a boy who at that time truly cared about me an I truly cared about him but family was against me nobody care i ended back in the girls home I did hear he was looking for me but over time he moved on I have always thought about him and hoped he had a wonderful life

Just came across this song after watching prisoner cell block H, such a beautiful song, so sad.
Totally underrated.
They recently played this over the end credits of the very last episode of Wentworth ( with bloopers). I got goosebumps. Instantly reminded me of when I was in my pre teens and teens and I was allowed to stay up and watch it and then we would all talk about it in Primary school. Used to air at 12.10am Friday nights and then 11pm Sundays as well later down the years. So many memories.

I use to sneak out of bed to watch prisoner & hear this hauntingly beautiful song when they shut the cells at the end of the show!
same ...i was 1yo when this song was released ... but i remember as a tiny kid (probably about 5 or 6) sneaking out of bed and sitting on the landing of the stairs so i could watch prisoner through the crack in living room door (always forgetting that the 3rd step creaked giving me away and id get a spanking and sent back to bed lol) then when they started the re-runs when i was a little older mum gave in and let me cuddle up in bed with her and watch it on the condition that i was asleep before the end of it because she used to watch "V" (some horror alien thing) which was on straight after and she would carry me back to my own bed between prisoner ending and V starting ... back then i didnt care about the program it was just the song i wanted to listen to :-) lol then on the 3rd time round of re-runs i wanted to watch the program i was a teen by then and i understood the storyline and everything about it and it always made me tear up hearing the title song ... this song will always make me think of mum (even tho she hasnt passed yet this will always be the song that hits me and make me think of mum ♥♥)

I really love this song. I grew up watching Prisoner Cell Block H and learned the theme song by ear on the piano. It was a pleasure to find it here and sing along. It is truly beautiful. My piano version is really beautiful, too, as I can put in my expressions. I'm so glad you posted this.
