If you regulary have the issue with removing the cover: get some aluminium pipes and a tube connector to basicly make a oversized tripod. Add a chain hoist / hand lever hoist / cable hoist and you are done. Add some wheels for convenience. It will not take a lot of space in the car if you just assemble it on job site (Put connector on ground, put the 3 pipes in, turn it around and done). Finding the right tube connector for this might be a bit hard, so just ask a local welder to make you as many as you need. Doesn't cost much to make and makes handling covers a lot easier.
I couldn't help but wonder how useful a slide hammer might be on those manhole cover lifting slots

Great vid as always guys and entertaining. Jack used the worm jetter with bare hands.... this is really bad practice and any small cuts or grazes are a big risk to get many infections so please take care of yourselves properly. PPE is used for a good reason.

I'm not sure what it is (maybe its just us that work in maintenance roles, or maybe I have a problem) but a decent drain unblocking with a thank you gurgle is extremely satisfying! I'd use a small scissor or screw jack---Instead of the big Jack you have there---to push up one or both of the keys, make short work of that as long as you can get the keys to grab.

these jetter rigs dont have a standard pressure wand for blasting the area for cleaning around the hole for afterwards does it??...my mind was debatin blastin around the edges to clear through all what was stickin to the square iron cap there first...then the lifting off wouldnt have been as hard

Ever use a hand torch to force the metal to slightly expand and pop-off?
I had one similar but in a flooded loading dock of a local fruit company. I was standing on a pallet on a forklift with my 11/16ths machine, started feeling around for the pipe under nearly 2 feet of water. I started to feel what felt like vacuum hoses for a car engine, I pulled on them, and they had wire nuts on the ends, they were damn electrical wires! I called the company's engineer who told me "stop right now and just take off, we'll pay whatever". Lucky I wasn't electrocuted. Talk about dodgy!
I've seen some use a disc cutter for getting a plate cover up! Just a thought....

what type of drain is this, rain water from the roof gutters or house waste water? How come there is no joining pipe for the two pipe ends?
Question, in the US, manholes are in city streets or the like and are for waste water and whatnot. Are these manholes over there for sewage/human waste? Aka stuff flushed down toilets?
Some are for storm water, and the others are for sanitary sewers that come from toilets. USA and Canada usually do not have access covers on the residential properties for the drain pipes. Newer houses now have clean-out covers outside at the property line for storm and sanitary lines. Not combined systems unless it’s a really old area.
These two are too funny together. I would like to know if Jem was like Jack when he was his age or was he like Ollie?
