This is my favourite ABBA song, and there is some major competition in that back catalogue. Despite the fact this was a huge hit on its release, as you highlighted from the Wikipedia entry, I *do* agree its underrated - when you consider how much attention "Waterloo" and "Dancing Queen" still get to this day, "Super Trouper" should get far more recognition in the present day for being just a sublime piece of pop music mastery. I can never hear "Super Trouper" without getting a warn feeling all over, and being taken back to that nostalgic time when I was a preteen and also remembering that this was one of my mother's favourite songs back then. I didn't appreciate it as much then, but since I grew into adulthood and got past the scepticism about ABBA that many here in the UK had during the late 80s and early 90s (when the band were seen by the young and by music industry snobs as 'cheesy') and finally began to appreciate the musicality and craft, this has grown to be one of my favourite songs of that period.
I love ABBA! My late husband was a tattooed biker type man who looked rough but had the heart of a teddy bear. He was my best friend and partner for 23 years until his passing. ABBA was his favorite band and he traveled to many European countries to see them live in concert. He said that they were the best concerts he had ever been to, surpassing all the great bands from the 70's including Janice Joplin. He was a true ABBA fan and so am I! Thanks for another great reaction video!
It's definitely life-changing, I vividly remember the first time I listened to it when I was about 6-7 years old. Those sounds went straight to my heart and haven't left since then. They're the best.
I first heard it when I was 30. I’d heard several of the songs on the radio growing up, but for some reason they never made much of an impression on me. Listening to them as an adult, with fresh ears, I thought “THIS is what I was hearing all that time???!!!” It blew my mind and made me an instant fan.
@@toby9999 Because it's very common to think that ABBA is 'gay music,' but music has no gender. We just need to have fun and create good memories from these beautiful songs.
ABBA for the win! Such impeccable musicianship and recording/production, it's almost too much to take in, too much to believe it's this perfect, this beautiful...sigh...Somebody please beam be back to a 70's dance club with this on the PA!
And in the middle of it all, that dramatic line "The sight of you will prove to me, I'm still alive", I imagine the two lovers running into each other's arms.
Yes, it's "Frida" - and, may I say: I'm SO GLAD you've finally got into some of the Frida-led tracks. Don't get me wrong, ABBA is my favourite band of all time and I absolutely adore Agnetha, but Frida was always slightly less recognised than Agnetha, despite her being the lead on so many of their hits and a key part of that "third voice" they both created together. Great to see a contemporary reactor acknowledging the pure power of Frida's vocals. ABBA is the one band where you can't rank any single member ahead of the others: they're all absolutely integral to that uniquely rare wall of sound.
There are about 8 exceptional Frida leads you haven't done yet. Of course all her leads are great. Her ability to go from ballad to lullaby to show tune is incredible. After abba she rocked Fire and Ice in a show she hosted. There is nothing she can't do. She was and is one of the best vocalists to walk the planet. And then there is Agnetha wonderful in a different way. How lucky that fate put them together and that they had voices which were not only word class but blended they way they did.
this year marks 50 yrs since ABBA won Eurovision song contest with Waterloo ❤❤❤ ABBA was fortunate enough to see ABBA live in Melbourne Australia Sidney Myer Music Bowl March 1977
You can’t help but smile whenever ABBA is played. As a young girl I remember my sister and I and a couple of friends used put on ABBA concerts and every song now is a beautiful and spirit raising trip to nostalgia land
It's not, actually, the Super Trouper spotlight is a helluva lot bigger (I've seen it in an ABBA museum.) If you look at the Wikipedia page that he's looking at they give the actual model used.
Their style of music and insanely beautiful voices will honestly always be around. I'm seeing so many young people loving their music and I'm sure that will just keep going.
Andersson and Ulvaeus deserved to be named among the greatest songwriting pairs in history alongside Gilbert & Sullivan, the Gershwin Brothers, Rogers & Hammerstein, Lieber & Stoller, and even Lennon & McCartney.
It's got a kind of christmas sound to it. FYI all those coloured lights behind them are known as "Super Troupers" hence the words "Super Trouper lights are gonna find me"

Salvo, my man. It all begins and ends with Dancing Queen. Regarded by many as one of the most perfect songs ever written and performed. A thing of beauty.
Great reaction! Super Trouper is one of my favourites too. Also on this album is one of ABBA's lesser known songs, Andante Andante, which is my all time ABBA favourite (hint). Actually, there are loads of great tracks on this album. ABBA was one of those bands that just kept getting better and more mature.
Yes good song and the same melody as why does it have to be me. It also is in cartoon version. They were goi g to make an ABBA cartoon and Happy Hawii and Money Money Money were made but then they stopped for some reason but they are kind of neat to see in cartoon version
Another great track on this album is "Andante, Andante". It wasn't a huge hit, I'm not even sure if it was released as a single, but I used to play it over and over again as a kid, and it would always put a lump in my throat every single time I listened to it for some reason. Still not exactly sure why. Those beautiful vocals with the guitar hypnotised me...
This was the first song I heard from ABBA, and also was the same time I saw something called CD for the first time which has music and rainbow in a disc. You can't imagine the thrill and excitement it brought to me when I was a teenager. I had never heard something like this before, I was so enchanted! This song still remains my number 1 favorite song of ABBA.
Perfect reaction and as probably most ABBA fans would concur, I have your sort of reaction every time I hear this song. Maybe not outwardly with others around, but, internally totally getting into each and every moment of this perfect slice of pop bliss, and when I do listen on my own I usually can’t resist and have to join in with the “su-pa-pah, tru-pa-pah”. So glad you appreciate ABBA and the way Benny and Bjorn were (are) true architects of music design and construction who managed to build so many gorgeous structures of song utilizing the tools of melody, harmony, irresistible hooks, clever lyrics and technical prowess when it came to the art of studio production. There is a reason ABBA is probably more known today than at the height of their commercial success in the 70s and 80s and it’s due to the timeless quality of their music which will never sound dated. ❤ABBA❤

The whole album plays like a 'greatest hits' collection - there is that many great songs on it!! Highly recommend: Lay Your Love On Me, The Piper, Our Last Summer, Andante Andante... Ring Ring always used to be my favourite song of theirs as a child in the 80's (honestly I love them all now) and I don't think anyone has reacted to it yet. Hugs from Oz
Pure unadulterated TALENT.
The ABBA Voyage show in London will blow your mind. Seriously.
Thank you very much. Keep doing Abba, please. Big kiss from Portugal. Ana
I get my first ABBA-record when i was 12-years old for christmas gift and that was in the year of 1982, i´m 56-years today and still love ABBA....
FAVORITE ABBA SONG! I catch grief about that. They have great songs, and many of them, but this one gives me goosebumps ON TOP OF my goosebumps!
Mama Mia!!!
It was fun to see you react! "Underrated", I think that person meant the song is so much better than what it was it was credited for. Your reaction clearly proved that. ❤ Thanks for making me smile.
Even metalheads love ABBA ❤
Sssshhh!Don't tell anyone,it's not ''proper"(lol!).except we know many many do reaaally love them.Sometimes a guilty pleasure is more pleasant when it's guilty isn't it?☺
Really true !!! Lots of metal bands (and single artists) are producing ABBA song covers. They are probably the most metallized authors in absolute. That's proof metalheads love ABBA, Just try putting the words "ABBA" and "metal" in your RUclips search box and a new world will open up to you
The Sex Pistols only hade cassette band in their tour bus - ABBA.
@@JustWickedSwede Yes indeed it was the '70s collection 'Abba Greatest hits".An iconic album. Also Nirvana had ABBA ''Gold" on repeat as was stated while touring in the '90s.Both Kurt and David fell for them.
What a band !!! Love it 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
One always thinks an ABBA song is their very best until they hear the next one 😁😄🤩🏅

Bro this is like jedais work, this is so mighty ... Abba doesnt have a bad song.
I feel like ABBA brings out the little kid in people. Their music just makes you 10 again, it renews your sense of wonder and fun with no worry about being cool or aggressive. You just sit there and bounce up and down, smiling.
A serotonine injection,it makes u feel again a carefree teen,no worries,...as if it's a deceptively wonderful world.i once spotted a comment kinda saying 'back at the time we didn't need prozak, cause we had Abba"lol.
Just love ABBA but always had a soft spot for this one just because they mention Glasgow, which is where I live 😁
I love the songs, and I love your laughs and surprise and joy when you listen to them.
