Already have more ideas for these Thermo pigments. Should we take it to the next level?
Don't be shy put some more
Purple and blue combination
Why would you /ever/ take it to the next level? That's not like you Fonzie.
Absolutely amazing how the paint manufacturing industry is progressing ....
Purple and blue would be 👍🏻👌🏼
Reminds me of the color changing Hot Wheels cars back in the day
Someone should do this to their car and go through a car wash and get reactions to when they come out.
More like hypercolor shirts
@@MrChubhub22 i still have mine
Ethan Young search it up
Ong
This looks like a great way to scare the hell out of the guy at the car wash. Imagine you start cleaning the car and it turns black...
Very cool..... Imagine a color-shifting pearl like Nordic, underneath a layer of this?? It would look like icicles showing up through the black!
Color shift with the black an color shift underneath the black
Theoretically, it might work (moreso than color-shift paired with glow in the dark pigments), but I don't know. That might be worth experimenting with.
Someone PLEASE do this on a speed shape and post it
When registering your car at the Ministry
Officer: what color is your car?
Me: it's complicated 😅
Depends on the weather xD
Greenish black 🤣
Operator: 911, location of your emergency.
Me: My car has been stolen...
Operator: Can you give me a description?
Me: Well, if it’s not raining...
That's really cool. Before you peel it and use the M3 in another video, could you show us a quick update on how the effect has worn off.
Curious too. The shelf life for thermochromic paint is quite short, but I'm wondering what exactly that means - does that mean the paint starts to peel after a year or does it just lose the temperature sensitivity?
6:33 that looks sick!
yoooooo car over doseeeeeeeeeeeeeee imma big fan of u
Black over white or bright silver would be a nice "all weather" paint job. One which helps heat/cool the car depending on season.
I wonder if a UV-coating would protect so it lasts longer. Well it will just turn to a regular black car when the it stops working anyway.
You put hypership pearl over the white and the hypership pearl over the black
That's an awesome idea! However the hood would likely always be triggered so maybe a solid color for that or an electroluminescence paint that doesn't fluoresce just color change. A SBC with a photo diode with this paint pigment on it could auto trigger the electroluminescent paint depending on what the rest of the paint is doing.
@@SkepticalCaveman uv coating would help slow the degradation of the thermochromic layer, as it is uv sensitive. So you'd need a clear coat with uv protection or holographic flakes mixed in because those can help protect from uv as well
@@ITpanda they have pigments that change color at different temperatures, some of them fairly high. You could just do the hood with that.
8:39 that color looks just like it has rusted a bit, maybe an idea for future project? A rusty look
It’s been done... with an airbrush
Is anyone else getting GTA "losing the cops with a paint switch" vibe, here?
First thing that crossed my mind 😂🤣😂🤣
NOOOOO, never, I didn't choose my car with losing the cops in mind either, I wouldn't do that.
ME TOO!
Just add a cool or hot water mister
7:35 - A piece of rubber from the trim falls off. Amazing slo-mo. 4/5
That trim piece: Aight, I'm out.
That belt molding probably costs $250.
Will the hood change color when the engine is hot? :O
Thinking the same thing
Good question
most likely, that would be so cool!
That's what I really wanted to see!
Came here to ask this. Also the body around tailpipes would probably start to bloom with color as the car warms up. That'd be sweet.
Just imagine it could be summer time and it starts raining it would slowly make it turn back to black
I'd like to see the reactions of people passing by when that happens.
@@MattTester Change red on black would would scare them. But than we have cases of PTSD. So not a really good idea.
@@wernerhiemer406 why red on black?
@@AkinaJVS pretty sure he means black base and red to clear topcoat that way when it rains it looks like blood
@@roscoenr Ok it was a little late here 23:00. Really I meant red on white.
Looks like something out of Borderlands with the shading
Imagine how confused your neighbors would be on the cool mornings the cars black and then you get home on a hot day and its green lol
5:15 - Well, I guess that's one way to close the hood the rest of the way...
8:33 this is so cool
Ooooo I could put a vinyl of Nicholas cage under this so when it goes clean BOOM there he is
This is brilliant
Genius
Just like the pic of him smiling on the hood😂
Go to a car show and people would be like oh sweet paint job then bam, Nicholas cage
Why Nicholas Cage?
8:39 I like that drity look
5:48 I love how the hood is unlatched until the weight of the water latches it
One of the coolest things ive ever seen on a car. Imaging your car being one color and it starts to rain and.....ta daaaa, somthing new. I want more!!!!!!!
Reminds me of when i was young and had a change colour car i played with in the bath👍
That's exactly what came to mind when I saw the color change. I had a metal hot wheels ltd police car that would change color like that.
Interesting, didn’t know there were pigments that changed to colorless.
Can you show what happens when you drive the car around for a bit? Wondering what parts on the car are going to change color.
The hot parts🤷🏾♂️
This has to be one of the best creative/badass things I've seen on this channel. Well done DYC crew
Oh, so that’s how you evade the cops like in Grand Theft Auto, drive into a multi story garage, park in the shade and dive under the dashboard xD
More more more!!! I’m loving all these wild colors the glow and thermo changing is so dope!!
Really awesome!!! I always wanted to see something like this. I understand the chemistry 🧪 that makes this up.Great Video✊
You gotta prank some car wash attendants. Freak out when their soap ruins your paint.
That would be a cool prank They will be really cool RUclips video to
Except they have to use warm/hot water and most people just use cold water and the engine and exhaust would have already turned parts of the car ruining the prank.
@@Zankaroo bah humbug
@@Zankaroo wow. There's always one of you isn't there. If you use cold water your a dumbass, judging by your comment, you probably do
@@Zankaroo instead of the whole car you could just paint one door. No engine or exhaust near a door.
Like Hot Wheels Color Shifters 🤩
Wow! That's actually amazing. What a cool effect. Thanks for the experiment. Well worth the viewing.
Beautiful.....you always do excellent work and thx 🙏 u for sharing your knowledge...
Would have been cool to drive through a car wash and see what happens ... 🤔
Fonzie: “don’t do dis”
Editor: *putts exact Ingredients*
Glad to see this here finally....I was planning on doing the paint version of this but I am considering doing it even if it can be reapplied over a dip
WOW i love this effect, good job !!!
Who else found this very satisfying 🤔🤤😂
Would putting the DYC ceramic coating stop the shift from happening or would it help the pigments last longer. Wondering if you have tried that already.
that would be a fun project
This is one of my favorite videos now. Just amazing to watch. Good fun and great effect!
That was cool as hell. Loved it. Thanks for spending your time and money on this. Awesome
This would be hilarious if u drove through a car wash, but that is if it doesn't mess with the paint
Honestly, id creep out the church washes always at O'Reillys.
Taking a BMW / Audi / Benz through a car wash... bad idea.
taking any car to the car wash is a bad idea unless its brushless. ive seen people after 2 weeks of owning a vehicle get it jacked up from car washes, then they beg mr detail man if u can help them lol
batmon26 😂😂😂Facts
Can you do a test and show us how this thermochromic pigment looks and acts after months on a car? If the colour loss is not too bad, or possible looks appealing still, people might be interested.
So cool great fun stuff, and as always thank you for the honesty.
The patterns look like fire or lightning! So cool!
What's the reaction temperature for this? like are we talking ice water (40 below) or cool water (70)?
Probably just tap water
The bag mentioned 100F as the transition temperature.
Hand me my super soaker and lets have some fun!
Glad you guys did this one, I had asked about it back when you did the glow in the dark. Nice to see it play out without putting up my hard to come by budget dollas' 😃
And yeah, go next level on that for sure.
I've always wanted a car with thermochromatic paint, ever since my first car (1966 Volkswagen beetle). The idea that a quick car wash would change the color of a car for a short while has been something I've always thought was cool.
Hands down my favorite paint job to date! Keep up the good work!
outstanding fun!!!!!!
thanks for shareing this
Fantastic project! Amazing result! It's also honourable from you telling us to avoid it since it's an effect that won't last too long!
If I could I would do it 100% it's a fantastic party trick or can be used as marketing project with some logos underneath!
Very good content I'm glad I'm subscribed so I can't loose any of these crazy stuff! 💪👍
That shot of the green with wheather worn black looks awsome at 8:50 .
It's so neat looking. Would have liked to have seen how it looks as the engine warms up.
This is the coolest job so far. I love this weird look. Crazy!
6:33 looks awesome
As usual, WOW! You guys always impress.
Stunning! Can not wait for the next Experiment.
Absolutely creative and wonderful great job 👍🏼
It looks so beautiful
That's wild. Great video!
8:48, the car looks like you went mudding with it. Lol. Love the videos.
Nice vid! Cool to see the whole car thermally active.
Was there any reaction to the car's engine heat.
I imagined that with the right outside temperature, the heat from the engine and brakes could create a cool effect, too.
Very very cool
Good first color choices
Looking forward to your next chemical concoction 👍🔥
This is beyond awesome, I would love this as a temporary fun thing to do on my mustang. 😁😁
That is freaking awesome so satisfying to watch
man, you know how to paint. so satisfying to watch!
Really wanted to see what it looks like driving around. I bet at highway speeds you'd get cool effects where the engine heat and cooling from the wind create cool patterns. Or seeing what happens when you come to a stop after driving. Really disappointed you didn't do that here. I really hope you do a follow up video of taking this to the next level in terms of paint job and then add driving to it.
I used to have little toy cars when I was a kid that'd change coulers when they got warm.
This reminds me of those.
About time. Been suggesting this for a long time lol
Yesss...I've been asking for this for awhile
Absolutely love it!!!
Always 💘 this seeing this notification come up. Don't ever stop!
I like this new pigment. you can get a lot of mileage with youtube videos on this alone. keep it up!!
The best brotha👍
You guys should make like a vlog driving it around for a day and taking clips on how it looks like at 3 to 4 hours intervals and randomly just plashing the car in front of people to see their reaction.
This is pretty dope, keep up the good work.
Actually very impressed with how fast the color reacts.
this is the coolest video you done.
This is wicked to bad it stops over time love it
That gave me so much satisfaction watching that.
Great color choice. Love the black to green shift. It would make car washing way more enjoyable.
Man that was AWESOME 👍🏽👊🏽
Wow awesome work👌👌👍
I was waiting for this.
Wow amazing stuff nice one
That was ridiculously satisfying.
Really cool. I was already very happy ith the matt black finish, but the effects of hot water was reallly neat. Too bad about the expected short shelflife.
So suggestive. I like the possibilities.
That's flipping awesome! I see lots of potential! Like say you have an elaborate design on the base then in theory with the proper thermo colors you could paint a different elaborate design & it could fade to reveal the base. Sound super expensive though
Craizy you guys🔥🔥🔥
That was the single most epic paint mixing and pouring I have ever seen
Myself, I absolutely loved the look at times during the in-between stages. Such as at 6:28 or 9:51 Looks way cooler than the pendulum painting!! Too bad the coloring could not be frozen at that particular moment. I would love to have that as a finished look!!!
I’m thinking I want this on my R33. This is awesome!
Wow, amazing dude👍
hats off to the person that suggested this the other day :)
This was super cool
NEED THIS!
Yea definitely a good idea for a really koo photo shoot make the car look fierce af good job 👏
Awesome!! I want this paint.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!!
DUUUDE!! I've been dreaming about this for so long. The future is now... 😎
