Thanks again for a delicious recipe, Dave. A couple of days ago I made a boiled dinner, Portuguese style. Beef, chourico sausage, carrots, and rice cooked in a rice ball. But I need to try this roast! You having a way of making cooking simple and enjoyable!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dave , great recipe & yes on us & the girls. I told them we have to use the white broccoli in this ( cauliflower) holds up better in the slow cooker. I am going to add turnips & rutabagas to this , chopped up. Really like the multi color taters. Cottage cheese as a side & cornbread , buttered. Honey sweet tea with lemon wedge to drink. Keep your stick on the ice pal.
Hey Steve. Sorry for the late reply. Love the ideas as always. I haven't had rutagas for so long. So many good ideas here, Steve. Miss the Hillbilly lessons. You'll enjoy Sunday's video. Take care and see you at the lodge.
@TheCooknShare Dave, thank you, not everything has a hillbilly lesson/word, but I try. Here is one that most folks don't know, those sweat shop eggs at the grocer that are Solid white are bleached with a chemical , very few breeds of egg laying hens produce white egg shells. If you ruffle back the feathers at their ears the color of their ear lobes will be the color of their egg shells. Blue, spotted, tan, dark brown, yellowish, etc... that is a fact. See you at the lodge pal.
can someone please tell me why you put oil on your food BEFORE SEASONING IT ? WHAT DOES OIL DO? ITS WATER PROOF...it LOCKS OUT anything that goes on it after. and yes......that goes for any fat . i get that , and i also get fat= flavor.... so if you want to LOCK IN.. FLAVOR......reverse it. put seasonings on first..... rub it in.... then coat w/oil/fat..to keep moisture out and have the seasoning soak into the food your cooking. doesnt that make more sense????????????
That looks great! Turnips, cabbage and celery root are also great additions! Thanks, Dave! 😋😋😃

Slow cooker comes in handy when I have to leave the house for long periods of time. Just dump everything in and come back, meal's ready 😊

I don't think it really matters all that much. I message it all into the meat. It is also for searing.
