    Very common problem and disappointed in GM because they know of the issue yet are still using the same condenser! Bought a condenser from Autozone with a Lifetime warranty for $147. Borrowed vacuum pump and gauges from Autozone. Removed and installed within 1.5 hours. AC purge and charge took 1 more hour. Took a shower while lines purged, came back and charged. I highly recommend doing this yourself. Job goes well and well worth the effort to save a lot of $$$$! Good luck everyone!

    Thank God I found this video. I guess I'm a lucky one bc my pos made it to 100k on my 2014 Silverado before it quit. Have no idea how Gm doesn't consider this a serious safety issue as mine went out during a downpour and the defroster went belly up. Great video!! Ordering condenser now and fixing this thing!

    2014-2016 Silverado Sierras have radiator, AC compressor and condenser problems. Wondering if it is due to stress in the system. This may sound stupid but could a faulty undetected thermostat, or something else be the cause? I dont want to Replace these parts every 1-2 years

    I just replaced my neighbors on his 2015 Silverado lease truck. I installed a TYC brand bought from Rockauto for about $100. Fit and finish of the new part was poor, but we made it work. We will see how it holds up, truck is a lease out of warranty so he did not want to spend a ton of money on it.

    Should any O-rings/gaskets be replaced or PAG oil added to the system? I have to replace mine this weekend. I was able to find a condenser for my 2014 gmc sierra 6.2L.

      @cesarvega7297  7 лет назад

      aopa1070 you can replace the o rings on the A.C. hoses [passenger side] and no pag oil should be added. that's only when it's a completely new system

    I have a 2014 silverado with a faulty ac condenser, do only thing if i'm correct is that the 5.3L v8 has the ac line and transmission cooler line both into the condenser. Do I have to close the transmission cooler line off or does it automatically close off when you turn off the engine? I want to change it out myself, I just don't want my transmission oil to go everywhere if that can be an issue. Thank you

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  7 лет назад

      you will be fine once the engine is off the fluid isn't flowing. you will loose so little trans fluid that it wont even make a difference in the level. but check the level anyways once you are done with the job. the trans cooler lines are on the top part of the condenser.

    My 2014 silverado leaked from the same place. I ordered the condenser of amazon for $100. I am doing the labor myself. Before replacing the new condenser, through where do i pour the pag oil?

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  7 лет назад

      Juan Garza no need to add any Pag oil I only put oil when I replace a complete system. Or put a new compressor.

    • @juangarza7072
      @juangarza7072 7 лет назад

      Oh wow I did not think you would respond Cesar! I appreciate it. One last question how much freon do I add? Should i just refill it with the diy kits from auto parts store or does it have to be precisely filles?

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  7 лет назад

      Juan Garza check on the tag that's on that plastic piece i took off. Or under the hood somewhere it should say how much Freon R134A to put in. I don't like using those cans from the parts store. What i highly recommend is to do the hard work yourself and take it to an A.C. shop close by so they can vacuum the system and fill to proper spec. Good luck and hope that helps.

      So there’s a recall on the condenser now?

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  6 лет назад

      Melaninated King On some GM models only mainly the v6 which is F+$^! Stupid in my opinion. Seeing as how v6 or v8 Silverado to escalade they are the exact same part. You will have to have your Dealership run a vin check to see if your vehicle "falls under that recall"

    Thanks

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  6 лет назад

      rchel72 the AC lines? Or the trans lines? The Ac lines just have 1 10mm nut and they come off very smoothly. The trans lines are a bi@## sometimes you just gotta wiggle them out.

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  6 лет назад

      2014-17 had a leak on the ac condenser. Check my other videos I'm not sure which one it is but I show where it leaks from. The symptom was that the ac was not blowing cold all of a sudden

    • @rauldsc1
      @rauldsc1 6 лет назад

      Did it have a hissing sound. I’m getting one on mine. Thanks in advanced

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  6 лет назад

      Only once when it drained all the Refrigerant. When I put a bit in yes it hisses. But I've also had a bad line on that generation of gm trucks. Have someone do a leak test on your vehicle so you can find out where its leaking.

  • @stackez
    @stackez 7 лет назад +1

    good video...not too many vids regarding new model gm trucks on ac issues here...anyway i have a 14 rado 5.3 and thanks to your tutorial found out how to gain visible access to the condenser...I put dye in the system due to a leak and found that its leaking where the accumulator and condenser meet. would that be a bad condenser or a improperly installed accumulator? I did have the a new accumulator installed last summer...so I'm kinda leaning that way, plus its cheaper. Also could the accumulator be replaced by removing the grill or is it the same process as the condenser?

  • @knightryderbelow

    Yo Cesar, Do I need to add oil to the system after I replace the condenser and vacuum it?

  • @juangarza7072
    @juangarza7072 7 лет назад

    Cesar I need your help! I rented a vacuum from auto zone with some gauges and i tried vacuuming the system. I did as some videos on youtube and the vacuum sounds the same and the needle does not go lower than zero meaning its not vacuuming. What do i do?

    • @cesarvega7297
      @cesarvega7297  7 лет назад

      Juan Garza .I've had that problem check that all the hoses on the gauges are tight. And also make sure that you have plugged in all the A.C. lines. I accidentally left the lower hose off once. So if I can make a mistake and I'm almost perfect you can too. 🤣 jk. But seriously just double check all your connections and if it doesn't change the pump might be bad or low on oil.

      lol Cesar wooo I am done! :) The gauges that I rented were shot. I exchanged them for other ones and immediately it started vacuuming. Thank you so much Cesar!!! Best of Luck in what you do!

      Denny Romero changing the condenser 1.5hrs and doing a vaccum and fill of R134A. About another 45 min to an hour.

      cesar vega thank you so much. I bought a truck about three mths ago used. The a.c. went out and the dealership told me that it would be $866 to put a new condenser in it. And told me it would be 6 hours labor and the whole front of the truck has to come off. Basicly trying to scare me of doing it myself. I told them let me think about it and that's when I came accross your video. Thank you for sharing this. For now I have it as a quick fix and refilled it but when it dies down again I will change it.

      Yc 530 I don't have one but there's a way to check the evaporator Core without taking the dash apart. It's a long process so I doubt they would take their time. Have your dealership do a V.I.S on that truck to check if there's a recall on the A.c. condenser. If there is have them change it after that it's on them to fix it right. ;-)
