The Fall of the House of Usher is probably my favorite show this year. You guys really, really need to check out Bly Manor. It's fantastic and it does the "hidden ghosts" thing so well.
Watching this again with you guys just makes me think about what a great character Auggie is. He, Juno, and Lenore are genuinely good people (Annabel, too)… probably the only good people in the series, unfortunately. But it does make you care for them even more

love how they added the red room into this episode. I recently read the graphic novel version of the masque of the red death and it was cool seeing the story depicted with illustrations. Mike Flanagan is doing a good job modernizing these Edgar Allan Poe stories/poems. I love it
The Fall Of The House Of Usher, in my opinion, has been the absolute pinacle of Mike Flanagan's work and his previous work has built to this. Its incredible and the nuance has just been masterfully presented. Flanagan has cemented his legacy in nuance horror and what i feel he does incredibly well is introduce generational trauma into the horror genre. I also loved spotting references via easter eggs/props to/from his previous works. Cant wait for you guys to finish this series 😌 hopefully react to Bly Manor too because that's is brilliant. For sure Flanagan is my favorite horror creator of all time now.
At first I didn't really like knowing that all the Usher kids are going to die and in what order. But actually it adds a crazy amount of thrills and anxiety. You know it's coming and get a hint (like Perry being burned etc), but you just don't know HOW! And I was prepared... But definitely not prepared enough...

I love horror but holy fuck this episode made my jaw drop and disturbed me more than anything from Saw or Terrifier. The sheer anticipation and watching the group go from pleasure to agony was insanely disturbing and haunting to me. Also, I find it hilarious that Mike Flanagan included guys in pup play hoods; this was somehow his horniest and most disturbing piece of media I've seen from him.
I don’t know if it’s my obsession with Hill House but did anyone else recognise the bar man talking to Perry about the sprinklers? He’s the guy assessing the mould with hugh and sells him the bad fans in Hill House! It’s the little cast members that Mike brings back that makes me love his universe even more. Every single re-occurring actor/actress is just incredible and I love watching new shows to see my favs 👌
Mike Flannagan is a modern day master of horror. He GETS the genre and sometimes plays to your expectations and then subverts them and I love him for it!
I don't know if it's the best for reacting out of Mike's series since it's slow and dialog heavy but it's my favorite series by him, the story idea is so smart too once I figured out what was happening I was like "woah how has this not been a show theme before?"
