Excellent video! My wife, daughter, and in laws are driving there as I type this. My daughter is beyond excited! Due to health issues, I could not make the trip from SC. At least I got to see the video! Have a great day!!!
Will November be too cold? Planning to come on the 9th for a birthday to Jim Thorpe and to ride the 70 mins train. Didn’t see dome options on that date.
is it too soon to go right now for fall foliage? I live in finger lakes /southern tier NY and travel home to see family in NYC often, and have to pass by poconos regardless.
Great train ride but avoid fall weekend in October, I repeat avoid at any cost unless you are ok for spending 2-3hr to get parking for your car or park you car 1-2 miles away. Getting ticket on fall weekend is next to impossible due to crowd, post parking fiasco and walking 1.5mile, we had to spend another 2hrs to get ticket. So whole Saturday went spent for 45min train ride. Dont get me wrong its beautiful but not worth spending full day to get 45min train ride.
@@nicolemazza1971 do share ur experience. We were lucky to get ticket for last train ride. That too someone who was in queue before us, helped us to get ticket for us. By the time we reached near ticket counter it was closed/sold out.
We have the Dome Car available right now on our LGSR train in Jim Thorpe through September 22, 2024. After that it will be used on our Fall Foliage excursion trains from Reading and Pittston. We expect the Dome Car to return to the LGSR in mid-November.
Switzerland is highlighted by a mix of spectacular mountain views, green and sloping valleys, and quaint but traditional towns. Jim Thorpe does well with a parallel in abstraction; a metaphor if you will. But, perception aside...1) We didn't name Jim Thorpe "The Switzerland of America", it earned it. 2) You are seeing the "valley" (bottom) of Jim Thorpe. The lifeblood of the experience (beyond LGSRY) is upstream of our camera. May we suggest the following link as an example? www.poconomountains.com/jim-thorpe/ And, if you are feeling exceptionally energetic, please turn your attention to the Lehigh Gorge State Park which is adjacent to Jim Thorpe and is stunningly beautiful.
@@RBMN thanks I’ve been many times to both Jim Thorpe and Switzerland. Just upsetting that all of the best views in accessible by car. Nothing screams “getting away from the city” than seas of surface level parking lots.
Our special Bike Trains that operate one weekend a month afford passengers the opportunity to bring their bikes and ride 25 miles back to Jim Thorpe from White Haven!

We run rain, snow, or shine. The Dome's exact return date in November is TBD.

Not at all... the leaves are actually changing already!

I’m hoping Sundays will be better. 🙏🏼

It all depends on how early you are. You need to get there around 10, or sooner.
Are you talking about the Fall ride that lasts for 45 minutes? I also see a ride for 70 minutes.
Well done
Sounds interesting, what state is it in ???
The LGSR is located in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
Do you have dome cars ? Is there a way to specifically book those trains

Hi Aimee
Your aerial views really show how much of Jim Thorpe is just parking lots. Cars stacked on cars on cars. Far cry from “Switzerland of America”
