Gr8 video thankyou for shareing 👍we LOVE this place and the whole area we vist there 3 times a year going up in the 21st of Oct vacation. It's like stepping back in time.
Thank you. It really is a wonderful place to visit. I didn’t focus on the food as much but there are also great boutiques and places to eat that you won’t find anywhere else. Enjoy
Thank you Bob, from our previous video conversation, I filmed Lancaster and it will be my next video release as I shift my narrative more towards the South to West PA region.
Jim Thorpe maybe one of the smallest towns in Pennsylvania, I think but it's very peaceful up there and relaxing, also they're always trying to make that little place up there much better and the scenery is fantastic. A lot of people ask me how do I know, I used to live up there and I used to go to school there. Haven't been up there probably a good 20 years I will say. The fall time is the best time to go up, with the trees and the leaves turning because of the weather amazing up there. Mom Chunk lake is a good place to go too, have your little picnics or just to relax or even do some fishing biking or just spending time with the family and friends. Maybe it's time to take a trip up there before the the snow and the colder weather comes. It is wonderful during the holidays up there, especially December.
It’s such a small town but generates so much traffic because of the activities. Traveling to Jim Thorpe seems like such an amazing getaway and you’re right, fall foliage is a spectacular time to visit. A lot of great festivals and local markets in the surrounding areas too. Pennsylvania fall is beautiful.
Dude, thanks for the informative video. I have been there before but forgot about it. I did not explore everything. I am going to take my wife there on our way back from Florida in the next couple days. She will love it.
Thank you for stopping by my video Marilyn. Fall is a perfect time to visit Jim Thorpe with all the fall festivals and the colors of autumn, especially when taking the bike trail. Its a smooth path if your taking an ebike.
I think I'll will visit Jim Thorpe tomorrow. I have not been back there since the pandemic. According to this video, it appears that few establishments have closed for good.
The majority of mainstream places are open as this was filmed back in March. Like many areas a couple of shops never made it. The area is still a blast. Enjoy your trip.
Jim Thorpe is a great little town to explore and just take a day to have a big adventure. They also have a large paintball field and I think the white water rafting is open again, something we want to try out next time we visit.
Looks like a really nice trail. I need to check this trail out at some point. I already rode 5K miles in Floridal, it's time to get out and explore other states trail systems. 😊
@@seancrowley1065 I'm actually from Maryland, and each year (except 2020) I've been to Jim Thorpe. And yeah, it does take a long time to get to both Lehighton and Jim Thorpe from Maryland.

Thank you for watching the video. Now that things are normalizing a bit its making it easier to explore these awesome towns. I really enjoy your camera work and chemistry. We’ve watched a couple of your videos and it’s given my wife new ideas of foods to try.

Hi, there is a bike rental place right across the Jim Thorpe visitor center when you first arrive in town (Pocono Biking). Also, here is a non-affiliated/non-sponsored link that can help (poconobikerental.com/pocono-bike-rentals/jim-thorpe-bike-rentals/)
This year its been warmer but this week it will get a bit cooler. I live in the area and this past weekend we were seeing low 70s. From here out its dropping to low 40s on the high. On average it ranges from 45-60.
That would be a great trip. When you search online it looks like it goes steeply downhill from White haven to Jim Thorpe but the ride is very pleasant. The train doesn’t have a stopping point it just does a loop around. At lead thats what it did when we were on.
Tyron, there is a bike rental shop across from the visitors center. You can also take a shuttle to different drop off points with White Haven - Jim Thorpe being one of the best trails. You can also walk it and find great stops like those shown in the video.
Thank you for the feedback. You can get it all done in 1 day but I highly recommend making it a weekend. There are several more things that are open now like the Old Jail Museum, the extended trail, and all the food shops.
Hello, this is the D&L Trail. There are a couple of stops along NEPA. The Cave and trail hike is Glen Onoko, You can bike or walk when you cross the Jim Thorpe Bridge. There is also a lot of parking by the cave. Here is the map for the full trail: (delawareandlehigh.org/map/)
I wasn’t sure at the time but someone had share cool photos of when it was a train line on my facebook page. It explains the tracks that are still inside the cave. Really neat experience
Hi Sean, thanks for checking out the video. I leave some things out for most videos in case of a return to the area. I am currently planning a “Welcome to the Poconos” video for the fall and will include that plus a tour of the jail.
Great video. What camera did you use to make this video? We are heading up in a few weeks for the bike tour and to do a little exploring. We came across Jim Thorpe last year by accident while in the Poconos and finally coming back for a longer visit.
The bike trail is fantastic. I’ve been wanting to do the full 140+ miles. I used a mix of Cameras, my main camera was the Canon SLR3, the train and bike scenes were on a Go Pro, the winery sequence was on an iPhone Xs and Sony Rx100
Hi CJ, Jim Thorpe is a very touristic area that sees people from all over. My experience in the area has been very friendly. I do not know how living in the area is like but visiting is a lot of fun.
I grew up in the area, we love people of all kinds. Gonna give a heads up. Just take some time to understand rural culture and respect it. There have been problems with nyc people. But it is just because they don’t understand the culture
Jim Thorpe is a nice and safe quiet little town to live in. I used to live up there off and on for years. The thing is if you don't drive then you should not live up there, it's not like other areas where you could just hop on the bus and go. There are a quite a few things to do up in this area, you just have to do your research. The monk Chunk lake is a great place to visit, we could do bike riding, walk along the lake or have a nice little picnic up there or you could just go up to relax and enjoy the scenery. It looks like Jim Thorpe had changed a lot since the last time I was there, it was probably 17 years give or take maybe. I miss riding the train. But for those of you who want to travel and visit some nice quiet places, Jim Thorpe is one of those places to visit. Just don't go up there during the holidays, it will be so packed plus the traffic it's crazy up there but it is worth it I will say that. I miss watching Jim Thorpe's Halloween parades and I love how they decorate the place up there for Christmas.
Nice video but JT is Switzerland of America, not PA. The Mollie Maguires we’re a group in Ireland that fought the landlords. Some believe they never existed in PA but were made up by the Pinkertons to break the labor unions. It’s a beautiful place but if you don’t like crowds don’t go on weekends in October. Asa Packer founded Lehigh University. Many of the restaurant and shop owners are not native Mauch Chunkers. My husband grew up there.
