RBMN Santa Trains! 🎅 - 2024
*MERRY CHRISTMAS!!*
It is one of our favorite times of year again! And, if you hear what we hear, Santa Claus is coming to town! But, not on a one-horse open sleigh! We know he prefers…trains! In fact, every year at the beginning of December, Santa makes special appearances at our Passenger locations and at the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway (LGSR).
This season, we have added some amazing new upgrades for our riders. These improvements centered around a singular word and that is, “cozy”. We have added more premium coaches to our line-up and just unveiled our King Coal Café where you can buy snacks, beverages, and goodies in addition to the treats handed out by Santa and his helpers.
But NOTHIN...

RBMN's Custom/Retro Locomotive "1983" Revealed!
Merry Christmas 2024!
What year will 425 return
Wonderful video RBMN! Merry Christmas to you, Jamie, and 2102 & 425!
What a wonderful video! I enjoyed every minute of it! Being a traditionalist I think Santa Trains should be pulled by steam but "Superman Diesels," otherwise known as "cab units," aren't a bad second choice at all, espcially the R&N's VERY classy F-Units! (Why do I call them "Superman Diesels?" Check the opening opening of the old "Adventures of Superman" TV series starring George Reeves, the ones in color, you'll find out!" Oh, and I was reminded of something I haven't thought of in years: "Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread Man!" Thanks for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it!
will you be making a video on the cnj 113 santa train
Probably, however #113 had to be pulled off the train for mechanical issues. The Minersville trains will now be diesel-powered. Please see the "Minersville" section of our Santa Trains page for more information.
Too bad that they're not pulled by the 2102. At least the F-units are stepping up to the task (as Santa Claus is allegedly very portly)!
Maybe one of these holidays #2102 will make an appearance; however our goal is to keep the cost of Santa train tickets affordable for families. Operating the steam locomotive is VERY expensive.
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since her last runs
She'll be back soon! Just as rebuilding the #2102 was a meticulous task, so too is rebuilding #425. We will all be excited to see #425 again!
425 should lead the 2102 whenever she comes back from her 1472 FRA Day Boiler and Inspection!
That could happen, you never know!
Not to be rude but I hate the shade of blue still great job!
Just a curious question: Why have the chairs face each other instead of in rows? I'm a bit awkward, so I wouldn't want someone to think I'm staring at them from across, lol...
The Lounge tends to sell to smaller groups, so we wanted to make it a more intimate setting than the Standard or Crown Class coaches.
Juat an idea: since the 425 wont be back for a bit it may be a project but i want to see the CNJ 113 from minersville with an rbm&n logo on it
Don't know about the RBMN logo but CNJ #113 will be featured on our Minersville Santa Trains December 14 & 15!
Great I am very excited I will be there
Op ride
I love Jim Thorpe🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I Love Jim Thorpe
Incredible adventure!!
Great to hear!
Any updates on 425?
Nothing major to report right now... our steam crew is preparing for our final #2102 excursion of the year taking place this Saturday, 10/26/2024. We will likely have updates on #425 as the year draws to a close.
Thank you for this video, just purchased tickets for this car on a steam day!
Awesome! You will enjoy that for sure!
It’s good 2102 is sitting there with 425 watching it be reborn. I’d love to see 425 with the prr 3 chime whistle again. It’s the whistle I’ve always heard it have.
When not in operation, they sit side-by-side in our steam shop. You will hear 425 again!
Wonderful presentation on all cars. Thank you. Looking forward to a trip soon!
Thank you, we hope it helps folks decide which car they would like the best when they visit, or that it inspires multiple visits so they can try them all!
@RBMN well let's say it did inspire my wife and I. We visited last Sunday!
is it too soon to go right now for fall foliage? I live in finger lakes /southern tier NY and travel home to see family in NYC often, and have to pass by poconos regardless.
Not at all... the leaves are actually changing already!
Yummy snacks!
They are, and we have lots of them to choose from!
what position(s) at the railroad would I have to be to work with the steam locomotives?
Hello! Glad to hear of your interest with working on our steam locomotives! The position would be called a "steam mechanic" which is within our "steam shop" department. Right now, we do not have any openings. But, you can always look into www.rbmnrr.com/employment regularly to see if a new job is posted 😀. All the best!
Nice. Can you show the refreshment stand inside RDC 9166?
Thank you for the suggestion! That may be a possibility depending on @jamiemakin and her busy schedule! She wears many hats at the railroad.
That's on my list to film very soon!
@@JamieMakin Thanks
@@RBMN She replied, thanks.
Salud!
Not to be confused with the King Coal observation car?
That is correct! The King Coal car is still our number seven whereas the Cafe is housed within crown class coach 450 👍
Hi Jamie I was on that train that day
Great work Jamie! Great work indeed! Thanks so much for bringing us this amazing locomotive and trip! This is almost like being there for those of us who can't be.
Thank you, that is what we were striving for!
I noticed that there were no dome cars in the consist!
Nope, the Dome Cars stayed at Jim Thorpe on the LGSR in this case.
@@RBMN - I'm surprised that you didn't include one of the three as a separate seating level.
Sounds interesting, what state is it in ???
The LGSR is located in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.
Also I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years
We can't either, but all good things take time, especially restoring/rebuilding a steam locomotive.
I love 2102 a lot, I have a character based on 2102.
Woohoo, new station! I would love to see a livestream set up for this one!
That is almost certainly on the list as we develop the Nesquehoning Campus!
Another fabulous modern train station completed!
Thank you! We think it is fabulous too!
Don't you love trains, trams, aren't they all beautiful :) come take a ride! (at folder 2, look my way)
We sure do! "Come take a ride" is good advice!
@@RBMN Heh! have a raily! great day. :))
Wish I was there in person
Sorry you could not make it, but watching the video is the next best thing!
@RBMN - I was across the tracks videoing the departure of the train from a safe location because I was limited in my movement from recent leg surgery and was confined to my car.. Thank you for an impressive show once again!
@@RBMN That’s okay, I plan on riding the Fall Foliage excursions this year. My sister is coming up from Texas to visit. We’re riding the last 2102 fall foliage excursion on October 26th in the Parlor Car. This is her first time riding it so I can’t wait to see what she thinks of it! It’s also going to be my third time riding in the Parlor Car. Looking forward to October 26th!🚂🍂🍁
Will November be too cold? Planning to come on the 9th for a birthday to Jim Thorpe and to ride the 70 mins train. Didn’t see dome options on that date.
We run rain, snow, or shine. The Dome's exact return date in November is TBD.
I can't wait until the restoration is done
Neither can we, but all good things take time!
You're right
I have an Idea would R&N 425 run the R&N and Steamtown to Buffalo.
That would unfortunately be difficult because we would have to run over Norfolk Southern rails to reach either of those places. Great idea however!
Show us 425 now
We will be sure to post another update once it is filmed!
Thx I like to hear that
@@RBMNwhat work was even done since then
Congratulations on the grand opening of the nesquehoning station grand opening last weekend and making new excursion train special
Thank you! We hope to be running excursions from there for many years to come.
Still waiting for 425 to come out from her 1,472
It will get there. We just want to ensure it is done correctly.
Do you have dome cars ? Is there a way to specifically book those trains
We have the Dome Car available right now on our LGSR train in Jim Thorpe through September 22, 2024. After that it will be used on our Fall Foliage excursion trains from Reading and Pittston. We expect the Dome Car to return to the LGSR in mid-November.
Muito bonito os vídeos das RDC auto motriz daqui do Brasil 🇧🇷👏👏👏👏 beautiful 🇺🇲 RDC train diesel
Glad you liked it! We have had folks from all over the world come to ride our trains, we hope to see you too!
@@RBMN - On October 1, 2022, I rode behind the 2102. I encountered an Englishman as one of my fellow passengers!
Hi Aimee
im going on the August 17th trip. I always wanted to ride the Reading Blue Mountin & Northern RR.
We look forward to seeing you!
You guys should totally put 1983 on front of the diesel excursion on the 27th. It'd be neat to see her and hear her in the Pocono's.
We might do just that on a futrure excursion. Right now, #1983 is busy hauling freight.
This was my 3rd time seeing 2102 and it was fun. Can't wait to see her again next year!
We'll make sure #2102 is ready!
I was on the train for tunkhannock! I was in coach 215!
That was a very hot day but certainly a memorable one!
55:03 This is Jamie Makin. Hahaha
Ha ha yes, our narrator fancies himself a comedic impressionist!
Can you make a music video with the song they play at the beginning of each excursion please?
Maybe someday! We would have to get permission from the artist first.
