- Since opening the “Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Regional Railroad” (at Pittston) in 2023, interest in travel from the station has been extremely high. In addition to the benefit of traveling to Jim Thorpe by rail from the North, riders are provided with a unique travel experience as well as unique views that are not available during other RBMN-Passenger or LGSR excursions.
Join @JamieMakin as she provides excellent information that travelers would need to know for riding with us from Pittston as well as some tips to make your train ride uniquely yours.

TIMESTAMPS & BRIEF SUMMARY
0:58 - 1:49 General overview
Mostly crown class coaches (normally 452 and 453) are present for these unique excursions and each coach has their own personality!
1:50 - Car 452 “Deer Lake”
This heavyweight coach was built in1926 by Pullman. The coach has plush, charter bus type seats with climate control and is generously spacious.
2:39 - Car 453 “Pulpit Rock”
This coach is similar to 452, but showcases a stunning ridge red fabric on the seats. This is another heavyweight coach built in 1956. If you are a photographer or videographer, this coach is perfect for you!
3:24 - 1166 dining car “North by Northwest”
This dining car was built by the Budd Car Company in 1947 for the NY Central Railroad.
For movie buffs, this is the exact car used in the 1959 American spy movie by Alfred Hitchcock with the same name.

4:39 - Highlight: Lounge Car No. 7, “King Coal,” has been added this year! Built in 1916 and remodeled in 1947, this luxury car offers great and unique views compared to the rest of the train.

2102 has 3 iron horse ramble excursions this year, 425 is under a boiler inspection at the moment but will return eventually.
