Why we are having storage issues in 2024 with such cheaper storage is bonkers. I firmly believe they are intentionally Limiting storage just to make more money. No reason we can't have 1tb in everything nowadays
MKHD talked about that in a video about iPhones and iPads. You start looking at the cheap one and end up buying the most expensive one because it's a better deal which is why they made this price structure in the first place...
At budget upgrading from the quest 2 as an adult. This feels good to me. I don’t have a problem with fresnel lenses and really won’t understand what I am missing until I actually look through pancaked lenses. Keeping the operating system up to date so I can do what I want with it feels important and I am looking forward to better pass through.

I just got my Quest 3s today. Upgrading from a 64GB Quest 2. I appreciate the extra storage and I"m good with 128GB. It's been a lot of fun and I bought the Razer headstrap for it. I also want the Razer facial interface for the 3s, but it's sold out everywhere, including Razer. I have both for my Quest 2. I'm going to be giving my Quest 2 to my mom for her to use and play Dancing VR apps on. Should be cool. I can't wait to to play the Batman game as it should be a lot of fun. I hope it's not too short and that you get some cool gameplay hours out of it. Should be fun! Great review. L8r!
I just got a Quest 3s about a week ago. It's pretty amazing in my opinion. Enabling developer mode and sideloading content is a must to get the most out of it. It's pretty powerful. My one complaint is battery life, but there are numerous options for add on batteries. If you have a capable PC and wanted a headset for VR, this is a great option for you. Just like on PC, you can get games for free pretty easily if you're a filthy pirate.
My take is: the 3S is now the standard edition and the 3 the deluxe/premium edition. Although the 3S can track your hands in pitch black environment. In that regard the 3 is the cut down and older version of the two. The clever decision to put the same chip and cameras is what makes the 3S a valuable choice. The 3S wasn't even on my radar since I own a Pico4 but double the performance and cameras (Pico has one mono camera) do make me consider buying the 3S cheap second hand or at a reduced price. I believe the 3S will be a success, therefore even more people will get a VR headset therefore bringing the overall prices down.
@@stefanschuchardt5734 No one should buy the 3S just because it performs better in low light. I never had a problem with the Quest 3 in low light. Pancake lenses and the better displays are far more important. I recommend the Quest 3 over the 3S to anyone.

I'll be honest, my kids have been asking for a VR since last year. We planned on getting them the occulus quest 2, of course they discontinued it so we were gutted, as parents there was not a chance we were paying £700 for two meta 3's. Then the 3s got released, I know they have their flaws just like anything, but my two little ones want to play gorilla tag, among us and roblox. This to us is an absolute bargain for peace and quiet...well..until one of them breaks theirs 💀👌P.s Great review as always!
Thanks for the video, my son turns 7 on boxing day and has only asked for a VR headset (hes desperate for one) so the 3s looks like a good option for someone that young 👍 thanks
i bought my fiance the 3s for christmas since he absolutely loves vr. (i didn’t know the 3 was better lol) but i just tested it and its a little better than the 2. he will still probably love it, the quality is still nice and smooth. worth the money imo!
@@Thetechchap Does help get things properly in focus though when you can centre the lenses on you pupils. Bit ironic that this would actually help the 3S with it's fresnel lenses more than the 3 which has a much wider sweet spot.
so I have the first gen htc vive pro, and I am looking for a different headset. I had my eyes on the quest 3s but I am not sure if that is the best choice. Can someone give me some advice on the matter?
Ive never had a meta quest, so this might be a stupid question but if you buy games, can you uninstall them for some time to free up storage and them reinstall them (without rebuying) again??
I am thinking about buying 2 headsets for my kids (10-14) to play together. I am wondering if I should buy 2 Meta Quest 3Ss or buy 1 Meta Quest 3 and 1 Meta Quest 3S. Thought being the person using it all the time would use the Quest 3 but when we want to play multiplayer games we have another option w/ lower price tag and storage. Can you make a recommendation? Thanks
I just now realized that it has no headphone jack. Gee, spend 150 dollars on Bluetooth headphones so I can get latency that makes same games unplayable, or spend 100 dollars to get a 3 instead of a 3s... Such a hard choice... This is very annoying because I was about to buy one. Now I have to wait another year and get the 3 just because they didn't want to put in a ten cent port. It's actually suspicious that there isn't more outrage about this due to how dramatically in affects the value. If you use headphones, then the 3s is a really really bad value. It's amazing.
That strap really lets the Quest down! After owing the Quest 3, I went for Apple Vision Pro demo. Was bracing myself to take that extra weight as obviously we are talking about metal body against Quest's plastic! And .... surprisingly, the Vision Pro did not feel that heavy at all. The demo unit was using the dual loop band and it was perfectly designed to nicely distribute the weight! It really made such a huge difference ... it made the heaver device feel surprisingly lighter and more comfortable when you wear it than this lighter Quest 3 .. Really Meta should ditch that default strap and maybe take some inspiration from the Vision pro!
@@dtz1000 I do have that and several other straps.. which I even reviewed on my channel. But the issue for me is not whilst standing up and playing VR games. Its lying on the bed, resting your neck/head and watching content .. which I do a lot on my Quest 3. And the issue with all those Elite straps is the back, where you have this plastic bit sticking out which makes it so uncomfortable to rest your head backwards! So yes, we still need that amazing dual-loop like band for the quest as well!
yo guys, i once had a oculus go and the games and the scenery on there (like the scenery in the main menu) i really like. so my question is if these things are on the 3s too?
I wish I enjoyed video games enough to buy a VR set, because eventually they'll get good enough on productivity tools to be useful; but until then, I personally can't use one. I can see how it'd be a lot of fun, though.
I am a gamer and actually use mine more for travel and media consumption. I do a bit of exercising with it too. Even if you aren't a gamer, you may enjoy having a pool table, table tennis table, and a giant movie theater in mixed reality in your house for $300.
3s, I pre-ordered the 256gb so hopefully it comes tomorrow on launch! Definitely a good deal and I'm excited to step into the vr world! Will keep it for at least 2 or 3 years than get the "flagship" quest device or whatever they have then.
What im having problems with is sharpness, the scenes you show for the games are clear and sharp, i just have semi good clearness, not HD or 1080p at all.
I might wait till next gear to get one. As of now my 2 will suffice. Most of the apps i use dont require passthrough or do i have fhe need for mixed at this time
Even so I got the Bobo vr strap with battery extender for 49.99 and it'll add about 2 hours to the overall battery life. The $80 strap from Bobo adds 4 more hours to the overall battery life!
If i was getting vr for myself id spend the money onnthe 3 but im getting it for my sons birthday coming up and all he asks for is a vr set so im getting him the 3s because hes only 7 at 330 euro for the 3s vs 510e for the 3, the 3s will more than do. When hes a good bit older ill consider a more expensive version with any newer models that might be out in a few years time
Never understood these "budget/lite" versions, except in the case of the Switch Lite: That one makes sense if you just want something to put in a toddlers hands without handing them something with full internet access. If you're gonna drop a few hundred bucks on a luxury item, might as well save up the few hundred more and get the best you can with that money. I feel once a product has passed $100, and it's not for anything practical, you've entered Value > Cost territory, with the diminishing return factor of course. GPU's are the best example of that.
I think its nice for people that want to try out VR. For myself for example I'm gonna get the 3s cause I don't know what VR is like, if I enjoy it enough, I can upgrade to the next release, which I assume will be the 4
You don't understand paying 60% of the price for the same hardware with just worse lenses / a little smaller resolution? Vr three years ago was insanely costly, now it's so much more accessible. It's like saying an rtx 4060 shouldn't exist when the 4090 exists.
Never even tried VR thing, i do NOT interested with its current games and it needs to be much more advanced. We actually really need good optimizied game ports for consoles and especially PC platforms FFS!!!
I agree. It should have been a Quest 2s or Quest 3 lite. I think they were following the same logic as X box. The X box series S being the entry level model and X box series X being the flagship model. But the previous gen X box S was the upgraded model. Stupid people. 😂
I sold my quest 2 because of the weight. After an hour of anything, I'd had enough. I do miss Immersed, big screen and poker stars, though. Almost makes me want to pick up a second hand Pro.
this makes no sense, you simply could’ve gotten a new headstrap, literally everyone recommends that. With BovoVRs for example the Headset isn’t even strapped on your face
Like the others say - 3rd party head strap is your best bet (halo style one) - spreads the weight round your head and keeps it off your cheeks and bridge of your nose
It has the same lenses the Quest 2 has. What is so sad is how these reviewers KISS UP to Meta. To quote one that was talking about the Quest 3s "I don't know why but the lenses on the Quest 3s just seem allot better". There not. Better possessor yes. Then why don't they tell you.. do not by the Quest 3s buy a refurbished Quest 3 from Meta that has a one year warranty? $299 128 or $379 128 Quest 3.
Kinda, you don't want the lens to be exposed to the sun or it will be damaged. If you wear it, go outside and play, then come back inside, away from the sun, I think there's no trouble.
I wanna get a 3s but i feel like vr its more for Children especially the 3s. I just wanna watch movies, play flightsims and escape my wife when shes moody 😂

On the quest 2 you can touble tap on The side of the headset and u will be in ur passtrough and back. So the button is pretty unnessesary
This really helped for the review. Thank you I might add this to my Christmas list 😊😊
how does Mac desktop on Quest 3 proper compare to Vision Pro Mac desktop?!?!? similar PPD or totally better resolution on the AVP???
I'll be honest, my kids have been asking for a VR since last year. We planned on getting them the occulus quest 2, of course they discontinued it so we were gutted, as parents there was not a chance we were paying £700 for two meta 3's. Then the 3s got released, I know they have their flaws just like anything, but my two little ones want to play gorilla tag, among us and roblox. This to us is an absolute bargain for peace and quiet...well..until one of them breaks theirs 💀👌P.s Great review as always!
I'm just wondering who ever accused you or suggested that you may not be honest?
What parent uses the skull emoji…
@@akimbo899Is there some law against it? Weird thing to ponder.
Thanks for the video, my son turns 7 on boxing day and has only asked for a VR headset (hes desperate for one) so the 3s looks like a good option for someone that young 👍 thanks
Yeah, mine is 12. Would love to get him a 3, but the 128 3s is more feasible
Im in New Zealand and the 3s is 640 dollars here while the quest 3 is 970 should i save the extra 320 to get the quest 3 or just stick with the 3s?
i bought my fiance the 3s for christmas since he absolutely loves vr. (i didn’t know the 3 was better lol) but i just tested it and its a little better than the 2. he will still probably love it, the quality is still nice and smooth. worth the money imo!
I have the HTC vive for my PC, and it uses Fresnell lenses, and i haven't had any issues.
Had one of those myself!
13:31 you have the wrong game listed.
so i can stream game ultra settings trough pc with my 4090 would this be worth it or will the Vr machine get to hot... `?
IPD switch adjusts distance between the pupils.
Yes - misspoke there. Quite right
@@Thetechchap Does help get things properly in focus though when you can centre the lenses on you pupils.
Batman and 3 months Quest + also comes with the Quest 3.
Does it need to have always your smartphone connected or it is a standalone console? Thanks!
Pretty sure it is standalone
I’ve already ordered the Quest 3S, and I also got the Sonicgrace S3 Duo battery head strap for it. I hope Batman can clear the game quickly😅
Sorry so how do you listen to audio without a headphone jack ? Does it just play out loud ?
I believe you can use Bluetooth
Yes it does have speakers on it
Still thinking about buying one but great video and easy decision to sub 😊
Ive never had a meta quest, so this might be a stupid question but if you buy games, can you uninstall them for some time to free up storage and them reinstall them (without rebuying) again??
If you buy a game it will always be available in your library, so you can install and reinstall as much as you want
@ParaDoxical775 thank you so much!
Will I be able to play vr games with a link cable on decent settings? I have a rx6800m 12gb card in the laptop
Thanks
As a quest 1 user. Id like to know if s3 is an large upgrade for me? Bc i have been looking at the s3 and im probly going to buy it
I just now realized that it has no headphone jack.
Why don't you just buy a usb-c passthrough cable with a 3.5mm adapter for $10 on amazon? Simple solution that doesn't cost 100's right there...
@@RaavMedia A halo strap for the Quest costs $20. It's the first thing a Quest owner should buy.
Is there difference in movies experience between them
Quest 3 is better for movie experience but any OLED headset should still beat it.
does Meta do a lot of sales for their apps and games like Steam does?
Is it safe to play on Meta Quest 3s while charging?
thxfor review as first one mention pressure on the nose due a dozen breaks 3 times under knife and fact my glasses are annoying its a big issue
yo guys, i once had a oculus go and the games and the scenery on there (like the scenery in the main menu) i really like. so my question is if these things are on the 3s too?
I wish I enjoyed video games enough to buy a VR set, because eventually they'll get good enough on productivity tools to be useful; but until then, I personally can't use one. I can see how it'd be a lot of fun, though.
I am a gamer and actually use mine more for travel and media consumption. I do a bit of exercising with it too. Even if you aren't a gamer, you may enjoy having a pool table, table tennis table, and a giant movie theater in mixed reality in your house for $300.
@ thanks for the info-may be useful then!
the 3S with 256 gb or the 3 with 128 gb
3s, I pre-ordered the 256gb so hopefully it comes tomorrow on launch! Definitely a good deal and I'm excited to step into the vr world! Will keep it for at least 2 or 3 years than get the "flagship" quest device or whatever they have then.
I got a good gaming pc so if you have that that's a plus too can mirror or play pc vr games too
3 if you can get it.
@@thatdude9978 Nice. There is just one thing i have with it an thats where I live a 3S 128 GB costs the same as the 256 GB in the US
Get the 9S
What im having problems with is sharpness, the scenes you show for the games are clear and sharp, i just have semi good clearness, not HD or 1080p at all.
bought one yesterday but i mainly bought it so i can conncet it too my pc so i dont mind the storage problem
I found a sandisk ssd 1tb around 100 usd so why does the 3s 256 gb why is that 100 usd more for 100gb a dollar for a gigabyte is alot
Homie played the worst looking games available currently 😭
There was that 5 second clip of Asgard's Wrath 2. 🤣
True lol
Real 😭
I might wait till next gear to get one. As of now my 2 will suffice. Most of the apps i use dont require passthrough or do i have fhe need for mixed at this time
they purposely make the head straps uncomfortable so you buy the “elite” straps
Even so I got the Bobo vr strap with battery extender for 49.99 and it'll add about 2 hours to the overall battery life. The $80 strap from Bobo adds 4 more hours to the overall battery life!
Ordered the Quest 3s 256gb as my first headset and I'm so excited to get into the industry. I have a vr gaming pc setup which goes hand in hand!
Nice! Great time to get into VR
It does the job, just about - and I guess it's to been the price down. Elite straps are way too expensive though
@@thatdude9978What's nice with the BoboVR strap is that you can alternate the batteries and keep playing
is meta quest 3s beter then 2???
of course
How to stream your MacBook?
Never even tried VR thing, i do NOT interested with its current games and it needs to be much more advanced. We actually really need good optimizied game ports for consoles and especially PC platforms FFS!!!
Small VR audience mean there's not enough money to do that large scale. You can play PC games or stream via Xbox cloud gaming onto the headset though
I hesitate for a while but it doesnt seem like a lot of games are worth it for me so far...
There's a LOT, actually.
I felt a bit like that, but I had to try a load of them before I discovered the kind of thing I like (puzzle games mainly)
Agreed - way more choice than before!
Surely it should be called a 2S 😂
Or 3 Lite?
@@Thetechchap even better! 3S seems a tad misleading, especially when 'S' usually denotes something to be 'superior'
I agree. It should have been a Quest 2s or Quest 3 lite. I think they were following the same logic as X box. The X box series S being the entry level model and X box series X being the flagship model. But the previous gen X box S was the upgraded model. Stupid people. 😂
@@heyhey3887exactly, like brands always abbreviate the RTX Super card from NVIDIA to (number)S e.g 2060S, 3080S
Quest 2 Pro
Bought a 512gb Quest 3 just a few months ago. A bit of a kick in the plums to have it now $150 cheaper.
What is with his hair on 9.22 Image Quality
im really happy it’s 128 gb, my quest 2 was 64 gb lol
I thought 3S sposed to be better than the 3
Never was. It always advertised has a cheaper option even in leakes.
Yeah I can see people getting confused around this. Hope the vid helps set things out better.
@@gervasiosgerva not meta, i mean in general, the s model is usually ALWAYS upgraded compared to the model it supercedes
@KentRoads well for me, is the same logic that xbox had with the series. S the weaker entry point and the X the most powerful and expensive.
Pixels Per Eye? You mean PPI? 1:10
if i had to choose the quest 3 or 3s definitely the quest 3
well no duh 😭 it’s a quest 2.5 you’re obviously going to choose the better version
It's a couple of hundred more, though. Depends on how seriously you want to get into the hobby.
Does this vr require a Facebook account?
meta account
Yes, a meta/Facebook account in order to buy anything I think.
@@deathstrom5085 thanks, that'll be a no for me then. I don't do FB, gram or tweet. I don't have fomo so I'll be OK.
meta account yes
Just in case it causes some confusion a meta account doesn't need to be tied to a facebook account now.
My brother just bought one for 300$ 128gb off amazon
Its worth it for $300 with the game and the subscription
How come some of them come with the Batman game? I’m so confused ..
"Man. This watch band is too big. I guess watches aren't for me. Time to sell it.".
Like the others say - 3rd party head strap is your best bet (halo style one) - spreads the weight round your head and keeps it off your cheeks and bridge of your nose
Absolutely right
@@No.Name-Y-T Had the Bobo, still didn't like it for long periods. Heard the pro was a bit lighter. 🤷♂
I wish it was 300 for 3s. In canada the 3s is 400. And 3 is like 650 lmao.
Quest 2.5
It has the same lenses the Quest 2 has. What is so sad is how these reviewers KISS UP to Meta. To quote one that was talking about the Quest 3s "I don't know why but the lenses on the Quest 3s just seem allot better". There not. Better possessor yes.
Then why don't they tell you.. do not by the Quest 3s buy a refurbished Quest 3 from Meta that has a one year warranty? $299 128 or $379 128 Quest 3.
I was thinking about buying the Quest 3, but now I'm waiting for the third party ones they should function better and look much better😅
I'm really hoping some competition - even if they are running Horizon OS - helps build the standalone VR community and we get more/better games
It's awesome, but I can't play anything for more than 10 mins without feeling the strain on my eyes.
Can you play outside in the sun?
Kinda, you don't want the lens to be exposed to the sun or it will be damaged. If you wear it, go outside and play, then come back inside, away from the sun, I think there's no trouble.
But it has the same lens and resolution as Quest 2 and same crappy 3 point IDP adjustment, I would stay away from it and go for full Quest 3.
So they made the tracking worse
Games, games, anything other useful?
This is not going to sale lol
It's currently the best selling VR headset at least on Amazon globally
Batteries on my face! No thank you! Apple's solution is much better. It's convenient but it is not safe at all.
I think most battery overheat/fire issues occur when plugged in, but I understand the concern you have for your face.
Cheaper than iphones.....
5:53 disliked because of this lame advice. Show some more respect for developers that are working hard to make VR content.
People are more likely to buy and keep a developers game if they have a safety net in case they don’t like it. this literally helps developers
I wanna get a 3s but i feel like vr its more for Children especially the 3s. I just wanna watch movies, play flightsims and escape my wife when shes moody 😂
Just get a Quest 3. You can do it all. VR is for anyone. It has a lot of uses.
@Drstrange3000 got a quest 3s kinda wish I did get the 3 but I don't have the money to drop in something that I didn't know I'd like. Will upgrade when quest 4 releases
@LK32019 The Quest 3S is still a really good choice. Especially for those on the fence. $500 is a lot of money.
@Drstrange3000 yea that what I was thinking, still really happy with it though especially for the price
the vr environment graphics / artstyle look ugly and childish
thats what puts me off the most
