There was never a controversy. Hasn't been for decades. Only started after certain people started to talk about it to rile people up. The people in Indus Valley Civilization were named that because "Sindhus" couldn't be pronounced by Greeks. Which turned into "Hindus". The "Hindus" couldn't be pronounced by many more which then turned it into "Indus". That's what the civilization in the Indus valley was named after. People living there naturally became "Indians" and more formal British name became to be "India". Coincidentally, the people living there were also called "Bharatiya" cause they were apparently children of "Bharat". The people who lived there definitely didn't leave written scriptures that stated what they called themselves. It's only what OTHERS called them. So both names work.

@@Papa-ur3ju insufficient medications diring covid (negligence for second wave, while the whole world was preparing for second wave we were clapping in our balconies), disastrous fail of demonetisation, farm bill atrocity, increases in oil and petrol prices, hate speech on dalits, using a different method of calculating GDP to make the numbers look higher, spending 10,000 crores on travel and donating 500 crores for flood affected states in india. And this is just off the top of my mind.

Emergency was golden time for India. There was law and order. No corruption. Govt staff work diligently without bribe. politcal leaders in jail so no hartal or bandh. Rowdies inside prison so ladies could go out fearlessly. Beggers inside rescue home so no kidnapping of children for begging and broken their limbs to make them fit for begging. Our per capita income shot up.
Again now we needs emergency as corruption is at peak. There is no law and order.
