Very helpful discussion and insightful references to the Old Testament. I can't help thinking it is worth mentioning their first and most important gift. Their humble and contrite hearts. Before they gave these gifts to Jesus they "prostrated themselves and did him homage."
These resinous incenses have many practical therapeutic benefits, including insect deterrence and as anti-microbial agents. Their natural purpose is preservation and healing. While they won't miraculously mend a broken leg, the burnt offering does offer a tangible regenerative purification of our bodies and sacred spaces that isn't merely conceptual or spiritual. It's much more than a pleasing aroma. The trees shed their blood for us just as Christ shed His blood for us.
Interesting! I've always understood the gifts as having the significance described in We Three Kings - gold for Jesus' kingship, frankincense for his Godhood and myrrh the importance of his death/burial (as a burial spice). But even looking at the description on the Wikipedia page for myrrh, I can see there are more complex connections going on. I wonder where the connection in We Three Kings originates?
Jesus was the temple like we all are , a place for the living god to dwell. Yeshua once said , "I will destroy this temple and rebuild it in 3 days". -- Christ. Needless to say , he rose in 3 days.

We have to stop thinking about these as symbols but as actual keys or substances that do a specific task !

So is it ok to burn it in your home??
I burn both Frankincense and Myrrh on my Home Altar/Prayer space.

Number 3 represents the Holy Trinity.

Yes. There's a alter within us. Do not defile the temple. Lest her plagues be cast upon you. Shalom
