    With my MSI 3090 in a Lian Li Dynamic XL, I dropped like 5 or 6c when I moved it to vertical. Because of its size, when horizontal, the heat was getting out the side was hitting the glass and getting trapped below the card. Then when I moved to vertical, the bottom 3 fans helped push the warm air up to the top 3 fans.
    Looking at the 4090s, it seems it's a must again as they will be so close to the glass, and the heat will build up unless you have an oversized case.
    I think the 4090s with as much open on its back plate is the way to go, the heat can pass through and up.

    I predict that these adapter cables might melt in high power OC builds with old PSUs. The power will most likely not be pulled equally from all four cables, so some of them will most likely overheat under full load. I would recommend waiting for the next gen PSUs... 40-series seems like a bad idea. The transition to the 12 -pin power connector is overdue, but that splitter will most likely cause a lot of problems in the future. I rather wait for the next series.

    Seeing those cards in/near an actual case for perspective means without the chiplet technology both Nvidia and AMD are working on that this is about as big and powerful as GPUs can go. I mean with 500+ watt power draws on the AIB cards and maxing out ATX cases where would you go with the next gen of cards???

    • @killafx4726
      @killafx4726 Год назад +2

      AMD's cards will (hopefully) be nowhere near as bad and as ludicrous as this, because of the MCM design of the new 7000 series (and if they are to be believed, their relative focus on power efficiency). Should also be a fair bit cheaper (there is no excuse for them not to be all things considered and with this way of making a GPU), and AMD have a fantastic opportunity to give Nvidia a true 'Zen moment' here like they did with Intel in the CPU space, but no doubt RTG will throw it away like they always do.
      The 4090 seems like the only card in the stack that there's a point in this generation, and even then, it's a power hungry, bloated mess for an obscene amount of money. If there isn't any decent competition from the likes of AMD, for example, this generation will be just be as naff as the 2000 series was (although, the saving grace for me there was in the 5700xt). I'm in the fortunate position to have an i9 10850k and a 3080 (and although I love building PCs), I won't be upgrading until at least the end of next year.

    • @giff74
      @giff74 Год назад

      @@JoshNel That's a tough combo for most current designs. If you want more performance you often need more power. If you use more power you need a bigger cooling system for the heat.
      That's why I don't think anyone could make another gen of GPUs in the current format. Hopefully in a couple years chiplets designs are what we are all talking about some of these issues are behind us.

Here in New Zealand it would cost me significantly more to build a dedicated streaming PC so the best option is just to buy a 13900K or 12900KS and utilize the E-cores for OBS while the P-cores handle the gaming.

    Omg, 3 x 4090.... I want!
    I don't care what the adapter looks like in my CoolerMaster case.
    The performance is what really matters.

    Please definitely test performance extensively on 1440p resolution in all those performance-hungry games like Cyberpunk. I'm guessing 240hz 1440p gang would appreciate these new 4090 cards.

      @@maddymuhat8079 Depends on the game, at some point these cards won't be able to run the newest triple A games at 4k over time (years from now) and will have to run those games at a lower res. as for games right now, like cyberpunk 2077 at 1440p with RTX on this card won't be bottlenecked and wont be able to get 144 fps either on avg

    Because of the hideous cable layout, I think I`d have it vertically mounted. The side panel glass professionally cut, dust yeah I know but I`d blow the thing out every now and then, the noise though it could be interesting as these cards can become a hell of a lot quieter when in an open-air environment so to speak.
