    Just a heads-up: I avoided _used_ graphics cards in this discussion. Just a bit too much to digest in a single 10-minute video. We have dedicated uploads discussing my top picks in the used market. The GTX 1080 is a great value at around $300, the GTX 1070 is great at around $200, and the RX 580/570 is good for $100 or less, IMO. Recap vids coming on those soon. Happy hunting!

      im considering the 2070 super. but im waiting for the price to go down maybe. i already havea 1070 ti and the super isnt enough of an upgrade to warrant the price. im thinking by the time the price goes down the 30 series will be here or amd might have something better than the 5700xt. so ill probalby just wait and see what the next cards bring from both makers. not buying the 20 series also is sending a message to nvidia and maybe they are listening

Other remaining part are new such as ryzen 2600 for 120$ and 1tb nvme for 90$. The psu maybe 750w bronze for 80$. Still not sure the gpu is a good buy or not since ebay have similar price

    I think it's also important to mention that the 2070S seems to have a pretty good amount of overclocking headroom and with at least 100Mhz on the core and over 900 on the memory you can get the 2070S within a few percentage points of the 2080S.

      for cpu i don't think you can beat amd for ryzen you can argue in pure gaming but for all around workload and gaming can't beat rzyen !
      about the GPU yeah there is a competition i m still between 5700XT and the 2070S ! still waiting for the AIB versions also in europe prices are different which make all these discussions about value doesn't work here ! in some country the amd gpu prices are higher then nvidia in other nvidia is wayyyyyyy more expensive then amd so it depends like wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
      if you look back with amd gpu you see overyears their gpu gets cheaper and better with more updates while nvidia doesn't even get cheaper and worse performance which is still perform better then amd and some features like tracing you still need to consider for gpus 2070 and above! fu ck it i m gona wait till blackfriday until everything is stable for pricing and drivers are more mature ! no more new launchs

    i just bought a 2070 super, that white gigabyte card to be precise, and personally i have no regrets. with the two free games included, it cost just $450, so to get close to the stock performance of a 2080 at that price is pretty awesome to me.
    as always though i'm definitely rooting for amd to continue to put serious pressure on nvidia. if they keep it up like they have been who knows, maybe next time i buy a graphics card it'll be from team red.

      Ummm. You do know that the 5700xt is only slower by 5%, but cost 25% less right? Even AIBs like the pulse models costs $410. That is competition. It also means the 5700xt is within 10% of the 2080, and 75% less.

    • @aperson9847
      @aperson9847 5 лет назад +3

      @@TakeshiInazuma yes, and i'm glad amd is putting pressure on nvidia like they have been. however like i said, with the free games that came included i essentially paid only $450 for my card. that puts it at 10% above the cost of a reference 5700 xt, which is more than worth it for the quieter and more effective cooling alone. on top of that, i'm also a bit of an aesthetics perfectionist, and i love the way the white gigabyte card looks. and, as someone who values pretty graphics VERY highly, i have no problem paying an extra $50 to get access to ray tracing. it's cool tech, and i look forward to playing more games that support it.
      there's more than one reason why somebody would make the choice i did, believe it or not. raw frames-per-dollar value isn't the only consideration.

    • @TakeshiInazuma
      @TakeshiInazuma 5 лет назад

      @@aperson9847 I understand, but there's a lot of holes in your arguments as well. The free games argument, Control is up in the air, but from the reviews I've seen of Young blood, it's has a lot of problems(not technically, but story, game play, and dialogue-wise), You can hold some value with it, but many probably wouldn't consider it worth much. ...but cool.
      AMD give three months of Gamepass(which is inconsistent). That could be worth $3 - $45 depending, on version or sale(GP on PC is $5, so that would be $15 saves, or GP Ultimate is $15, which make it $45 saved. They always have sales for $1 all the time though.). Again also it's if you think these 100 "so-called" games are even worth it.
      The 5700XT was said by many to be hot and loud, but there are channels talking about keeping the XT quiet, also as I said, AIB models also cost a small premium in comparison of the reference, and still comes close to the 2070S's performance. Also to clarify 450 to 400, is 12.5%, not 10.
      Aesthetics, like COLOR and SIZE is one arguments I can definitely agree with you on. Everyone want to get the card that match the rest of their case. Mine is all black with red, so the white would clash heavy.
      The Raytracing argument is flimsy, as yes, right now, Nvidia is the only consumer cards using Raytracing at the moment. especially on a hardware level. AMD may come with their own Raytracing technology, as both console manufacturers mentioned it in regards to their consoles' capabilities. which is cool. RTX as it stands, is nice to look at, but your Frames suffers, though it has gotten better since launch. There are also AMD technology, people may want to invest in as well. Maybe the Anti-lag, or the image sharpening feature. From what I hear it works worlds better than DLSS.
      While you are correct that there is buyer's justification, IMO besides design, 5700XT is still hold lots of value, for similar performance for ~$100+ less. Either way enjoy your purchase regardless. The 2070s will last you a good while.

    The price differential between the RTX Cards, the aftermarket 5700XT and the 5700XT REFERENCE is quite large here in Germany.
    You can get a Reference 5700 XT for 389€, the aftermarket models start at 425€ (cheap aftermarket), the RTX 2070 starts at 446€ (cheap aftermarket), the 2070 Super starts at 509€ (affordable aftermarket).

    Nothing offensive intended for any reviewers like Greg here, but saying that it should be refined at start is a slightly unfair in my opinion. Everyone holds AMD as the budget king who releases great products, but it takes months, sometimes a year to fix the bugs in their cards whereas most driver problems for NVIDIA are fixed. It’s a double standard no one notices yet constantly complains about in the reverse that it’s frustrating no one notices.
    You say RTX will be useless and gone or improved when it comes out so much that they will suck bad anyways? So will the RX 5700 by the time they get the drivers in order.

    • @beanshady
      @beanshady 5 лет назад +4

      There is one simple reason why he is endorsing Nvidia in this video. He bashes AMD for not offering a high-end competitor after almost nonchalantly brushing aside the 5700XT. He gives the classic "it runs hot and loud" moniker for the 5700XT reference model and then fails to cover the AIB models coming out soon or out now. I’m still pretty new to all of this and I have a question about FPS and monitor refresh rates.
    I’m a long time iMac user (about 15 years of nothing but Apple computers) and recently, I got a strong itch to build myself a gaming PC. I’m planning to put together a solid 1440p setup.
    If I were to buy a 2070 Super and I wanted to play at 1440p @ high/ultra settings, would it even make sense to buy a 144hz 1440p monitor? As I understand it, you aren’t able to see the benefits of 144hz unless you’re consistently achieving 144 FPS or higher. In the case of the 2070 Super, would it make more sense to go for a 100-120hz monitor since it looks like most AAA titles will run at around 80-100 FPS on high/ultra settings?
    I will probably buy a 144hz monitor anyway just to have some scalability, I’m really just asking to see if I’m correct in my understanding.
    Thanks
