Back in early 2019 I did a Ryzen 1700 setup and was using a GTX 1080 in it. I had a friend using a FX 8350 with a dual RX 480 4gb combo for Crossfire (I was still using a FX 8350/RX 470 myself as a secondary pc). He was one of those friends that felt like he had to keep up with or surpass what I had for some reason. He got that itch and against my advice to wait, jumped on a Ryzen 2700 and a giant ass space heater RTX 2070 even though I told him prices would be dropping as new stuff was coming in mere months. It was a waste of money for him. All he was doing was playing The Division 1 and 2. He did not even need the upgrade. Then a couple months later they released the new Ryzen 3000 series, and a few months after that, the RTX 2070 Super. Then in March 2020, I did a upgrade to a Ryzen 3600 and MSI RTX 2070 Super Ventus (much smaller and cooler than the EVGA 2070 he got). Was basically my main gaming pc from March 2020 till March 2023 when I did a new build again. It was like a kick in the teeth for him and he stopped trying to keep up with me after that when I do new builds, so to this day he is still using that Ryzen 2700/RTX 2070 setup as his main pc. My Ryzen 3600/RTX 2070 Super is still a secondary gaming pc that I use on a 1080P curved gaming monitor. Still very good for that, but there are games from last year that really hurt that 8gb vram/16gb system ram, the first of which for me was Company of Heroes 3. That game needed more than 8gb of vram and more than 16gb system ram to run maxed out. That's really what I took as a sign that it was time to put that PC into the secondary slot and replace it on my 4k setup with a new build using the Ryzen 5800X with a RX 7900 XT and 32gb system ram.
It's good to have two separate systems. From my testing (at least in the games I've tested), the 8GB of VRAM doesn't seem to be an issue at 1080p just yet. In some games, I do see it becoming an issue soon.
I have a 2070 super would it work well with the 27inch HPqs 240 hz /1440p monitor.Or would Hps 27inch 240hz/1080 monitor be betterAny info would be great.
Yes it is. I have one in my system running 1440p. If you’re doing VR then no it’s not worth it. It’s the only reason I’m considering upgrading when nvidia releases the 5000 series.
Still have mine and it's perfectly adequate for everything else but VR. Can't get decent frames for my HP Reverb G2 without rigorous optimisation and I'm sick of it. That's the only reason I'm looking to upgrade sooner or later.
Coulod you try it on a game called House Flipper its my favorite game and my current pc cannot no longer handle it and i will be getting a RTX 2070 soon so i just wanna know if its a good choice
I bought my rtx 2070 pre owned in 2019 for 332usd, my main reason for this card purchase was to play 1080p no ray trace and to pwn as many noobs as possible and it did just that, anyway fast forward to 2024 I went from a 9700k to 14700k using a 1440p monitor 170hz I can play 800 player rust 160 plus fps, low settings but all aa maxed, I like a clean sharp image regardless of graphics as that has never helped me frag noobs, I don’t use dlss because if I wanted to burn my eyes out of my head and giving gpu manufactures an excuse to make little improvements in there gpus and a terrible quality image that adds a disgusting eye burning blur I’d use dlss. If I wanted to turn my res to 1280 by 720 i may as well reinstall windows me and play rainbow 6 rogue spear and go back the msn zone and game spy arcade, in saying that i only play pvp games which I need want 100 plus fps and I get that at 1440p in games like squad, hell let loose, cs2, rust dark and darker and cod4, I get bored of single player games because there’s no challenge, so if your a single player gamer who likes over unrealistic shiny textures and vending machines that refracts light and images of your own character off a vending machine, then no this gpu is not for you and I guess luckily for me hogwarts legacy and cyberpunk was a giant snore. Pokemon heart gold goes pretty hard tho.

Currently my computer is a little over 5 years old (I upgrade every 5 years) so it's about that time. I have a 2070 Super paired with a 3700X. Overall this has been a very good setup for it's day. I can play Hogwarts and Cyberpunk on my 1440p Gsync monitor with minimal issues. That being said I can tell it's time to moonlight this card. It has been a great card but as games and tech have improved an 8Gb card just isn't worth buying in 2024.
My 2070 wasn't a huge fan of 1440p but it crushed 1080p. RT killed any frames you mightve had though, tbf the same could be said about 4k you didnt get the best of frames.
There isn’t really any cheap ones from nvidias side tbh. And none make sense since they’re all also 8gb cards which are becoming obsolete nowadays with these unoptimized games lol. But on AMDs side the 6700xt or 6800 are both great options, offering 35% & 70% performance increases for good prices generally, both have a ton of vram to last a good while into the future as well. If you’re buying new the best option would be something like a 4070 super / 7800xt which is still a crap ton of money for a graphics card at the end of the day

I just bought my buddy old pc with a 2070 in it and amd ryzen 7 24 GBs of ram it’s does a fine job with 1080p and even 1440p decent gpu
Nosence changed gtx 1080 on 2070 super.😅
I have a 2070 super would it work well with the 27inch HPqs 240 hz /1440p monitor.Or would Hps 27inch 240hz/1080 monitor be betterAny info would be great.
Yes it is. I have one in my system running 1440p. If you’re doing VR then no it’s not worth it. It’s the only reason I’m considering upgrading when nvidia releases the 5000 series.
Rtx 2070 came out Oct 2018.
Maxed out House Flipper runs at more than 60 FPS even on RX580 which is three times weaker than RTX2070
What about dlss or fsr to help would help in Ray tracing
Hey I like your channel. I was searching for information on the 2070. This helps a lot, thanks. Also I'm trying to place your accent. Are you from Liverpool and do you like the Beatles?
I have a 4070ti in my pc, I have a 2070 in my laptop I got a few years ago and wanted to see how it does these days as I don’t use it much anymore
Was it a big jump. Im getting into skyrim vr and want to see if it will boost it
What do yall say a reasonable upgrade would be from a 2070 super?
It depends on what type of gaming experience you want and how much money you’re willing to spend
Great video bro
2018. I was just turning 30 and really wanted a replacement for my 980
I advise you to test the RX-5700 xt, the best card in terms of price-performance ratio
Does it play 1440p on 2024 titles?
what is a good upgrade from this that wont break the bank?
There isn’t really any cheap ones from nvidias side tbh. And none make sense since they’re all also 8gb cards which are becoming obsolete nowadays with these unoptimized games lol. But on AMDs side the 6700xt or 6800 are both great options, offering 35% & 70% performance increases for good prices generally, both have a ton of vram to last a good while into the future as well. If you’re buying new the best option would be something like a 4070 super / 7800xt which is still a crap ton of money for a graphics card at the end of the day
i don't mind 720p with ultra graphics
just imagine i hv 3070 FE since 3 yrs wd 8gb VRAM. 😢
Still worth for 1080p,no RT or other ultra settings...
this card is also good for ray tracing i play miles morales with it with no lag and in high settings
getting one cause upgrade from gtx 980 worth it.
i still remember the day... when the stores was phasing out the 2070 for the 2060Super.... hahahahahahahah that day was beautiful for me. A rebrand eh WOW. People actually got joked. Not me lmfao i picked up mine for $200 lmfao 2060 Super and 2070 is the same shit! lmfao
what cpu will be the best for geforce 2070 ti armor?
There is no 2070 ti
@@yoyosingh1088 nvm what cpu will be the best for MSI Geforce RTX 2070 SUPER ARMOR OC 8GB GDDR6
I only get like 180 in Fortnite even with dlss💀
whats your cpu?
Hey what's the temps like in the game have the same GPU oc model it goes upto 78°C in game
They didn't go above 61C but I do have an undervolt applied.
@@ProYamYamPC yea mine to at .875 @1830hz
@@AbbasDalal1000 maybe he has way better airflow case and repasted gpu (with new thermal pads) and lower ambient temerature in the room...there are so many variabiles for the gpu temeprature
have my gigabyte rtx 2070 8gb at 1980 to 2000mhz in 4k its hitting 78c i config a ramair setup from my bottom case fans and dropped it to 71c. thats helldiver 2, cities skylines 2, forza motorsport making it that hot in 4k. 1080p its sits around 59c
@@mikereames4020same but my cooling is good and can run 4k hell divers everything like nothing
why are you getting 284 on those settings in fortnite when im barely able to get 140 wtf something is wrong with my PC.
Probably cpu? Or ram? Do you have performance mode on?
Check the temps
Tenho minha até hoje e ainda muito boa e jogo em todos jogos hoje.
Today the 8 GB Vram is the biggest problem of the 2070
I think with its 256 bit bus, it's ok for rasterisation. But yeah I'm inclined to agree with you
@@ProYamYamPC thank you :)
I sold my 2070 super model because of the Vram related stuttering I was having in games like the Callisto Protocol on 1440P ultra wide upgraded to a 6750 XT and must say it’s a way better GPU then a lot of media outlets give it credit for but in games like Robocop the 6750 XT is getting problems as well so a upgrade is on the horizon haha waiting on the 5000 series en 8000 series from nvidia and AMD for that
@@jeffreybouman2110 I absolutely love the base 6700 XT, I made a video on it towards the end of last year.
And I can imagine 8GB was cutting it close at 3440x1440. Nice pickup with the 6750 XT🙌
@@ProYamYamPC I’ll check it out :)
this is the iphone 11 of gpu's
Hell no 😂
@@FZresetYT yes it is.
what is a safe temp for this GPU? mines goes up to 80c
that is pretty normal for modern gpus
@@clumzy.visuals would u recommend to undervolt it? to bring temps down? or nah

this is the worst 2070 , i have this card and it makes an horrible noise when im playing thanks to msi afterburner i found a way to fix this but the temps in game are sky top high
Same here, could you share how you fixed the noise issue?
2070 Super = 4060
I got mine 2070 (msi armor version) to 0.95V and 1950mhz
Nice! How's it performing for you?
@@ProYamYamPC very good so far..apart from almost hitting the power limit in some games (200w-which is already increased in afterburner) - maybe I will tune it down a bit...
I got msi armor version too about a week ago, how's the temp in yours btw? Mine at 0.85v 1860mhz memory clock all the way to +800mhz. Max at 71°c 160w while playing heavily gpu bound games, still need a lot of reference to find the sweet spot.
@@whynot2692 I dropped it a bit to lower the power consumption and i got it to 1905 at 0.925v. now it runs around 180w to 195w during timespy. My max temps are 67c (gpu fans are running at 1450rpm) and I was running Timespy stresstest combined with cpuz stresstest to simulate gpu+cpu load. I guess I have better airflow in the case (my room temp was 24,2c)
Dayyum that's good, how's your idle consumption? now the only thing that I concern is my gpu idle power consumption, idk why but it sucks 40w of power, idk what went wrong but i don't think it's the gpu, cuz I've been running 3 different gpu's including the 2070 and all gpu runs identical 30-40w at idle.
