I am very happy for the Lyft and Uber drivers in Massachusetts. I have friends here in Cali that I do this full-time because there is no other employment and they actually have to rent cars for almost $400 a week in order to get the job.
We had a Proposition on our ballot in 2020 & it failed.
The companies threw mad cash into making it so confusing that people didn’t understand whether it was helping or hurting the drivers.
    It was a sad day.
I’m glad you brought up the story because you’re absolutely correct. It’s not just about who’s on the top of your ballot. Propositions, city council members, county board of supervisors, et al - it ALL MATTERS!
Joe Biden isn’t deciding what’s going on in my incorporated city here in Cali, the worst City Council in my 4 decades here are!
The midterms had a ballot initiative to cap rent increases at 3% into the Charter in perpetuity and still only 32% of the voters showed up when they don’t even have to literally show up. And this is a city whose 80% of its population are renters. Luckily our advocating worked and it passed but it could’ve just as easily gone the other way. We had to fight our city Council tooth and nail to get it on our local ballot because 90% of them are landlords. The corruption is everywhere that’s why every vote matters from the bottom all the way to the top.
Again, I thank you for pointing this out. I hope it sinks into peoples heads I really do.

*Great coverage of the U.K. election:* Loved the shoutout to Novara Media.
    1. I loved the analysis that the largely Muslim population who *elected Galloway* decided to vote for the *Far Right* anti immigration Reform Party instead - and that’s why he lost.
    2. Many say the Conservative party is scared of *Trump’s buddy Nigel Farage and the Far Right Reform Party/ Brexit Party.*
Reform got more political donations than the Conservatives so many think they are big problem for the Conservatives.. So it’s interesting to see an alternative perspective where George Galloway is the “Big Bad” at the centre of *14 years of Conservative psycho-drama.*
*3. Yes, Corbyn is a hero.* He was told he couldn’t stand as a Labour candidate; then he ran his own campaign which is great. That’s NOT the same as him *choosing to quit,* but this narrative is more uplifting.
*4. The average voter in the U.K. doesn’t know who Galloway or the Workers Party* is because he was never the leader of the Labour Party - unlike Corbyn. The workers party won less than 1%. If the Internet could vote he would win more.
*5. Galloway didn’t stand a candidate who lived locally in my area.* The Green Party are a viable challenger to Corporate Labour and are pro-Palestine. If Galloway ever starts a party that is designed to elect more members than himself I might be able to vote for him. Not voting for candidates who don’t live in my constituency. That’s a bigger priority than NATO.
*TLDR:* Great coverage as always. Not knowing Reform are Far Right and led by Trumps buddy Nigel Farage kinda sets the tone that this more or a fun reaction segment than political analysis- it was very entertaining, and welcome break after months U.K. political drama.

I am tired of the rhetoric of both sides. Dumb sell on " far right" or "far left" Old boring name calling and divide pushing by mainstream media for years. Tired of all identity politics. Divide is the game to keep both sides from see the real issues. Both sides get the same lobbyists and big donors. Play the same games then show different functions.

@@juliestanfield8433 Fair enough. As a Black British person living in multicultural London, who often travels to Europe for work *”Far Right”* is less of a mouthful than *”political thought that tends to be radically conservative, ultra-nationalist, and authoritarian, often also including nativist tendencies.”*
I don’t always feel safe in cities where the Far Right parties are dominant. I’m not keen on the anarchy and authoritarianism that’s *sometimes* associated with the *Far Left* either…..
*If Corporate Labour fail to deliver change,* Nigel Farage’s Far Right reform party will gain more seats at the next election. Just like many European countries are moving further to the Right. Maybe not a problem for people who don’t live in the U.K. but it’s a problem for me.
….but *I appreciate others may prefer different labels or no labels.*
That’s the beauty of the English - language and *freedom of expression.* 👍

@@jimkellysafro No labels I agree. I take a bit of both, Not everything., never have. I focus on issues than the labels of the parties. What issues are more important for example, I want to see the more quality of life for everybody include both conservatives and liberals, and even socialists. Let me tell you something a bit off topic, I am deaf myself. Ok. Picture in your head, a hearing person comes to you as deaf, asking you how do you drive? How to eat? Your first reaction is like, Why do you think I would be any different from a hearing person. A deaf person does live in the same atmosphere as the hearing person does. Why did they think that way? Cannot take deafness out of their head. Curious got the best of the person to see something differently. Difficult to reach its objectively. It's because they have not taught to understand the other side, not has not learned how to work with other perceptive yet. I cannot blame on the hearing person for that. Not enough exposure for the hearing person to understand what is like being in my shoe and the different experience They got all myths or something else from someone else in the media. Same thing with political viewpoints, I really believe if the mainstream media stop playing the game and stop paint one person on all people altogether. Not everyone is same. Focus on the issues, one side will come to other side to learn the new perspective. Sometimes by learning new perspective it will change the way look at it. Think for themselves will learn to accept other viewpoints and leave each other minding their business. Be able to see past the labels. Look at you as person., not the label. From a Liberal person thinking the "Right" going to end the world because cannot past the label. Conservative thinking "Left" would end the world. Cannot past the label. NO! Put liberal and conservative on the same table, you will find out they want the same thing but different ideas how to approach the issue, yet different people. We all have different ideas of approach the problems to solve. To learn what does not work and what works. Need go back to the history like time machine to see what did work and not work and see how far to have gone where more awareness than the past generations. Internet shows the funny way to find out much way faster. Free Speech for all. Stay Safe. Stay strong. Don't worry too much. Just think for yourself. 👍

To clarify and expand upon our comments in the chat:
Corbyn has long been an outstanding MP for Islington North. We've recommended many a year to friends in his constituency for advice, counsel, support, and representation.
All on the British Left are delighted that he gave Starmer a bloody nose locally, with as many votes as his opposition aggregated.
Jeremy has always been excellent on policy, particularly foreign affairs.
The parallels between Corbyn and Sanders:
Both had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the landscape of electoral politics. Bernie and Jeremy chose to play by establishment rules when their moment in history came.
Sanders stayed within the Democratic caucus, playing ball, afraid of being the next Ralph Nader. Corbyn, though reluctantly, threw several comrades under the bus as Labour leader. His failures to challenge and deal with opponents in the Labour Party were too numerous when his supporters were enthusiastic and willing to support him.
Bernie could have walked from the Democrats, taken his followers, and had a real shot at being President.
Jeremy, sanctioned by Labour in 2020 Starmer withdrawing whip, meaning he was no longer a serving Labour MP. If he had the courage and fortitude, he could have used the intervening time to take his movement with him and form a new Party. His name out front as a figurehead, with those around him doing the hard lifting.
George Galloway graciously offered the Workers Party leadership after his Rochdale by-election victory.
When the Left could have had a genuine electoral force in '24, Corbyn and those around him didn't have what it takes.
To be a radical leader, one must have a revolutionary spirit - neither did.
Without the fight of a revolutionary - the ruthless opponent will smell that weakness and crush all beneath.

I think there's a lot more going on underneath this then this article reveals. Stipend mean $15 or less or more. So that doesn't mean they're getting benefits. You're using your own car what you have to maintain and keep up. Whether it's 32 dollars or $50 you're still making a whole lot less
