I do 205. Which is nothing... A truly super strong hand is going to be in the 250- 325 range. The strongest on the planet at around 325-350 ish like Vitaly or Brian Shaw at the top end.
The average human is weaker than you give them credit for ….I’d say a average persons would be anywhere 20-70 …..don’t give humans more credit than they deserve …..a aver human can lift 40-60 kg ….so anybody above that is above average in reality (almost anybody who works out or does something )
This is a lot less correlated to rock climbing than you would think. I’m a competitive boulderer and they all beat my score on this thing 😂. We have strong fingers, but we never really squeeze a climbing hold the same way you squeeze this thing
Learning not to over grip is more important then having crazy grip in climbing. Getting pumped halfway up. Route sucks and you can’t always shake out. As far as gymnast climbing. I’ve known a few who have gotten into it and they all definitely started out stronger then most but still lacked the technique to make them “good.” The body composition does make them excel faster assuming they pick up the technique quickly though.
Pushing muscles beyond their capability is a practice that, although well-intentioned in the pursuit of fitness goals, can have significant drawbacks. This essay explores the potential negative impacts of overtraining, emphasizing the importance of understanding and respecting the limits of one’s body. Body: 1. Fatigue and Performance Decline: Overtraining often leads to chronic fatigue, which can manifest as a decline in overall physical performance. When muscles are continuously pushed without sufficient recovery, they become fatigued, reducing strength, endurance, and overall athletic performance. 2. Increased Risk of Injury: One of the primary risks associated with pushing muscles beyond their limits is an increased susceptibility to injuries. Overworked muscles are more prone to strains, sprains, and other injuries, jeopardizing both short-term and long-term fitness goals. 3. Impaired Recovery: Proper recovery is essential for muscle growth and overall well-being. Overtraining disrupts this recovery process, preventing muscles from repairing and rebuilding effectively. This can result in prolonged soreness, decreased flexibility, and a higher likelihood of overuse injuries. 4. Hormonal Imbalances: Overtraining can disrupt hormonal balance in the body. Elevated levels of stress hormones, such as cortisol, may lead to negative health effects, including impaired immune function, disrupted sleep patterns, and mood swings. 5. Impact on Mental Health: Physical exhaustion from overtraining can extend to mental fatigue. Constantly pushing the body to its limits without adequate rest can contribute to feelings of burnout, anxiety, and even depression. It is crucial to recognize the interconnectedness of physical and mental well-being. 6. Plateau in Progress: Surprisingly, overtraining may hinder progress rather than accelerate it. Muscles need time to adapt and grow stronger, and overloading them without proper recovery may lead to a plateau in performance and muscle development. 7. Quality vs. Quantity: Emphasizing quality over quantity is a fundamental principle in fitness. Overtraining often involves excessive volume without attention to proper form and technique. Focusing on the quality of each workout can prevent unnecessary strain on muscles and reduce the risk of injury. 8. Long-Term Health Consequences: Consistently pushing muscles beyond their capability may have long-term consequences on joint health, ligaments, and overall musculoskeletal integrity. Prioritizing sustainable training practices is crucial for maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle throughout one’s life. Conclusion: In conclusion, pushing muscles beyond their capability can have severe repercussions on physical and mental well-being. It is essential to strike a balance between challenging workouts and allowing the body adequate time to recover. By understanding the risks associated with overtraining, individuals can adopt a more sustainable and holistic approach to fitness, promoting long-term health and performance.
Don't forget professional armwrestlers my man. I saw once Vitaly Laletin doing this and he did 151 for the second try. Just not in lbs, but in kgs (~330 lbs). 😂
I was thinking exactly that too. I guess their machine must be improperly calibrated. As an exercise scientist, I've tested plenty sedentary men and anything below 90 lbs is considered extremely low. Also, I'm not a gymnast nor a climber whatsoever and I can easily reach 130lbs... TLDR Something is wrong with that machine
They’re not very heavy but also, gymnasts don’t train grip strength very much. If you want lb for lb strength, rock climbers are gonna be up there. Ofc, a big guy is gonna outgrip someone 100 lb lighter though.
After watching a bunch of these videos now, I'm even more blown away by the crushing grip those blue collar dudes have. They're not shredded, but they're just middle aged guys that have been working with their hands for decades.
This makes me feel a lot better about myself. Recently went through a mix of physical rehab / chiropractic work to fix multidirectional instability in both my shoulders. Part of that was trending my grip strength over time. By the end I was hitting around 105-110, and I am definitely not a gymnast just a hobby lifter. This helps put that into perspective for me thank you
So I bought one of these. There's am adjuster knob on them, hand size will play a role in how hard it reads, you have smaller hands, you need to bring it down, if you have larger hands, you bring it up. If you try to do it when it's adjusted for small hands and your hands are big, it will read super weak, and same for small hands trying to pull it when it's adjusted for large hands.
It's mostly about strength, but also about technique, and adjusting it perfectly to your hand size. I'm not particularly muscular, but I achieved 135 lbs (61 kg) with that same device.

Kinda underwhelming considering the average human grip strenght is 102 lbs and some of them are under 90lbs
The average human is also not as lean as them. I think if you don't have to worry about being 8-12% bodyfat, you could be way stronger in general.
