  • A look at the Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 adapted to The Sony a6000. I purchased the lens at my local thrift store for only $6. I got the adapter from Amazon for $15 bucks (link below). In this video review you'll see a brief overview of the Minolta lens, you'll see how to mount the lens to your mirrorless camera using a cheap K&F Concept adapter, and finally I take the minolta a6000 combination out to take a few sample photos and videos.

    One of my favorite film lenses ever, from one of my favorite film cameras ever, the Minolta X-700, and one of the biggest reasons I ended up picking a mirrorless camera over a DSLR. Sadly it hasn't seen as much use as I planned due to my current camera's lack of focus peaking or a viewfinder, but upgrading to an A6000 will fix both of those problems.

    Hi, thanks for the video. Now with combining these vintage glasses to digital bodies, do we have to set a certain things (on the menus) on the digital cameras? or is it just mount and shoot straight away? thanks again.

    I adapted a Minolta MD 50mm f1.7 lens to a Nikon D3000. It works really well, although I have to make the adjustments through trial and error, as the adapter doesn't have CPU contacts. But the image quality this lens brings is really worth the effort. Besides, I paid nothing for the lens, as my father (who was a professional photographer many years ago) gave me it.
    Excellent video. Greetings from Spain.

    I purchased this lens myself, after looking up vintage lenses, its a great lens on my a6000 and A7iii. I also have the 28mm F2.8, Also a nice lens. Both lenses were bought for £30 each. In my eyes very good value for money.

      so i got both of them and i have 2 questions. how do you remove the lens from the adapter? and is it normal that my aperture (f-stop number) is not showing in my viewfinder? it's just staying at f0.0 even when i change it... :(

    • @AdaptedAlpha
      @AdaptedAlpha  8 лет назад

      +Yinghui I've got two answers for you:
      1) To get the lens off, press the metal button on the adapter and at the same time turn counter clockwise. It should come right off.
      2) Yes, F0.0 is normal. Unfortunately that info isn't transferred to the camera.
      Congrats on the new gear and really good questions. I'll try to cover those issues in future videos:)

    • @yinghui5249
      @yinghui5249 8 лет назад

      Wow, thanks for the quick reply! It's good to know that the aperture is normal. I've been trying what you said but it only loosens the lens. It might be stuck or maybe I'm not pushing hard enough. Hopefully I'll figure it out.

I want to be able to shot videos with bokeh effect and also, I don't want to be too close to the object to get the background blurred. What kind of lens should I look for? Is there any vintage lens to do that? So I can pay less? Thanks in advance man.

    I have a Kalimar 50mm that is on my old Minolta X7-A, and an 80-200. It says MC on the front where yours says MD. How similar are these lenses and do they have adapters for these? I have an a6000 and want to start using these old legacy lenses. Thanks!

    I decided on getting the K&F adapter but can't decide between the regular K&F, the K&F copper, or the one with the tripod mount. Does anyone know if the tripod mount is removable or the difference between the copper one and the regular one? I assume the copper is supposed to be a higher quality adapter? If anyone reads this I'd like to know your opinion because that's about all I can go off of. The copper one is only about $3 more by the way. Also I was thinking that I might just get it from this website. www.kentfaith.com/sone-nex-e-mount-adapter does anybody know if this is the manufacturer's site? I was thinking I would go with them in hopes that delivery would be faster than ebay.

      @@AdaptedAlpha I'm finding that many thrift stores are selling lenses on ebay instead of in store. At least I can't find any thrift stores with lenses and see listing by the salvation army etc on ebay.

      +Allan Yes, but I haven't done it myself. You'll need the right adapter (MD to EOS/EF) lots to choose from Amazon and Ebay. I always recommend reading the reviews before purchasing. Also, here's a youtube video link of it being done. Hope this helps:) ruclips.net/video/sXVHuV4kblY/видео.html

      +Alvaro Sanchez Thanks for the kind words. Finn the Fish is recovering from fin rot, part of his treatment is changing the water really often. The smaller bowl helps with that. Happy adapting:)
