Dude, I'm looking into buying an A6000, and discovered how much cheaper and better in quality vintage lenses are. The fact that you have an ENTIRE CHANNEL dedicated to this topic is AMAZING!! Your content is also extremely well produced, and the videos are extremely informative. Thank you!
Can't believe this video exists. I thought I was the only one think about this (I was too desperate for 50mm lens). Thank you so much, this is helping a lot.
I love this lens. It was my first purchase after getting my a5000, and using it is what really taught me the basics of photography. I recommend it to everyone getting started. Great example shots by the way, keep it up!
Btw, I just got in a Helios 44-2 today. Couldn't resist. Have been trying not to get one, but broke down. It's amazing, especially with the Lens Turbo.
AdaptedAlpha Will do! It's been fun to use but haven't taken anything with the swirly bokeh, yet. It's a pretty amazing lens and lives up to the hype, for sure.
Great to see a wider variety of sample photos in this review, such as the woman and the football. I have the later MD version of this lens and it's pretty much my favorite lens ever.
Those K&Fs are great value. Use them for most of my reviews. Agree those Minolta's are the biz. Just did a fun shoot with an early retrofocus 28mm. Results blew me away.
As these reviews tend to be quite short, I think it would be very helpful to add some sort of sharpness tests and comparison to modern lenses. This would be a great aid to people debating wether to buy vintage or modern glass. Cheers for the great vids👍
Do you ever use a speed booster/focal reducer? To get rid of crop factor. I use one with my Minolta MD 50mm. Exposes that the lens has pretty bad edge softness
Excellent vids! 2 question are these 50mm lenses good for landscape and whats up with the infinite focus problem i saw some samples from helios 58mm at max focus distance and it was blurry
+*Stoned Unicorn* Thank you for the kind words. I've used this lens to take some landscapes before, but I usually like something a little wider. Not sure about that Helios, i've heard of infinity focus getting messed up with wrong length adapters, temperature, a number of different issues. In the end, I'd much rather have a lens focus a little past infinity rather than not make it to infinity:)
You can simple regulate infinity - stop by open front ring. Screw up little one screw , regulate focus and span again.. In principle you can do this with different types of leans.
I was thinking about buying the Sigma 30mm F2.8 EX DN for 120 Euro's because it's has good sharpness on the a6000. But I rather have 2 or 3 Adapted lenses. The only problem is how do I know the lens is sharper than my 16-50 kit lens? It would be useless to buy a Adapted lens that's not better than my kit lens. Any advice? Also if you put a adapter on your camera does it change the focal length?
+TheTunzy Unfortunately I've never used the Sigma:( I wish there was a good free way for folks to try lenses before buying. I try to hold off on purchasing lenses unless I get a great deal, or it fulfills a *need. Focal length should be the same:)
Does this adapter work properly with infinity focus or is it a little off? I've had other adapters that let me focus "past" infinity and would need to be dialed back a bit to work properly.
Hi! Thanks for this good video! I have an old Minolta MD 28 -70 mm 3.5-4.8 and a Tokura MC 70-210 3.9 Would this adapter work to use these lenses on a Sony a6600 or a6000 ?
As far as I know all Minolta MD & MC lenses will work find on any Sony e/NEX mounts with the same adapter. The only Minolta ones that wouldn't are the latter auto focus ones which aren't labelled mc/md as far as I know.
hey, mine is not the rokkor-x but the same and does not focus to infinity is that common w/ theses lenses or is my adapter not good? thanks great video
+Zarif KM Thanks you. I don't have an infinity focus problem with this lens/adapter combo, but it can be a problem when adapting these lenses. I've had some lenses that focus beyond infinity as well. A quick youtube search should bring up some videos of folks adjusting adapters and lenses to fix the infinity focus problem, but i've personally never done it.
+Tim V (The Texan Camper) Hi there! I haven't adapted this lens to the A-mount myself, but It looks like fotodioX makes MD to A-Mount adapter. This was on B&H: Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD Lens to Sony A Mount Camera www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/995292-REG
+Paul F Hi Paul! I can focus past infinity with many of my lenses as well, but I don't consider it an issue. I just don't like it when a lens stops short of infinity. Happy adapting:)
AdaptedAlpha And do you prefer Rokkor, Rokkor-X or which Version is the sharpest / best One in General! i really want to buy one of those so i would be glad to know which Version is your favourite.

+Nathan Castellanos Thank you:)
why does it teach you the basics if you dont mind me asking, just about to purchase my first DSLR OR Sony Mirrorless.
Amazing what you find at your thrift stores! Nice rundown of the lens.
+Carl Kwan Thank you Carl:)
Btw, I just got in a Helios 44-2 today. Couldn't resist. Have been trying not to get one, but broke down. It's amazing, especially with the Lens Turbo.
+Carl Kwan Sounds like a great combo. Let me know when/where I can see some samples:)

+Al Green I agree. I've been really happy with my K&F adapters too:)
Great videos you have here. Because of you I bought helios 44-2 to my a6000 and its incredible! Thanks 🙏
+Stanislav Tokaryev Thank You Stanislav! Are you enjoying the swirly bokeh?
AdaptedAlpha absolutely ☺
just got this lens after watching your video and it's awesome especially at this price.
+Emmet S Awesome! Did you purchase on eBay?
Love the look of that lens... Should be getting an a6000 soon and this is going to be sitting as a top priority buy.
+Gibslayer Awesome! Let me know when you get your camera:)
I hate your thrift store :(

+Leo Gacitua Thanks for the feedback Leo. I will be adding a some sort of sharpness section in future videos:)
wow these samples are amazing
+Louis Luzuka thank you!

+Lens of Art Video and Photography Awesome! Did you pick it up from eBay?
"The magical pieces of metal that allow us to bridge the old and the new to bring these old lenses to our new cameras.'
Rolls off the tongue.

no I actually bought it in a package deal,
3 lenses for 20 dollars in a yard sale..
but they go up to 40 to 60 dollars on ebay.
+Lens of Art Video and Photography Good find!

DrakeIsSix Utter bollocks....
Good review and nice photos! 👍
best review .... can I use it directly to Sony a mount with out adaptor ... I have a 77
I just found one of these lenses, along with 4 other Minolta rokkor-x, and an old camera. waiting on my adapter to try on my a6000!
+Alvaro Sandoval Wow! Great find Alvaro! Did you find them at a store or online?
At a store! I was surprised to find anything like that.
do you do any post editing to you sample pictures and videos? or what we see is what we get? cause these are amazing.
+Brandon Quinonez thanks:). Right now what you see, is what you get. The goal is to have an online gallery for each lens.
Thanks a lot for your videos, really useful, cheers from Argentina
+Fer Miranda Thank You:)
Does this adapter work properly with infinity focus or is it a little off? I've had other adapters that let me focus "past" infinity and would need to be dialed back a bit to work properly.
but how well will it adapt to a pumpkin? ;)
Great video! nice looking lens
+Jeremy Medina Unfortunately the pumpkin camera developed some mold, fungus, and fruit flies:( Thank you for the support.
It Works in my A6000 , GREAT I used a Adapter for it
Great info, Minolta is my main film camera besides my Yashica fx2 & 3. So I have plenty of Minolta lenses.
Hi! Thanks for this good video! I have an old Minolta MD 28 -70 mm 3.5-4.8 and a Tokura MC 70-210 3.9

Ok I’m in the UK. What’s a thrift store?
Just found this lens I’m my camera junk drawer, I am going to adapt it to my EM1 . That’s for video looking forward to using it
Would you recommend using a vintage lens for portraits and family portraits? If so any in specific?
+Edgar Cerna (edgarcernakicks) I use a vintage lens for portraits:). Lately i've been using the Olympus OM Zuiko 200 f/4.
Thanks for the feedback. Do you have any recommendations for something around 85mm?
+Edgar Cerna (edgarcernakicks) Not yet Edgar.
AdaptedAlpha lol...200mm for portraits? Would that be a portrait of your next door neighbour sunbathing in her garden....?🙄

How can it be not the rokkor-x ...but the same? 😣
So an old school 50mm like yours equal to ~80mm with the aps-c ?
this is good for indoor shooting ?
+Zorgate 75mm on aps-c. In tight indoor spaces I usually like to have something a little wider:)
I promise to subscribe if the fish's aquarium is upgraded to 10 gallons.
what adaptor would I need to make this fit my Sony A33 with A-Mount? thanks
+Tim V (The Texan Camper) Hi there! I haven't adapted this lens to the A-mount myself, but It looks like fotodioX makes MD to A-Mount adapter.
This was on B&H:
Pro Lens Mount Adapter for Minolta MD Lens to Sony A Mount Camera
www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/995292-REG
What was that lens hood? Super cool.
KUTALP DOGAN There are hundreds on Amazon....
do you have any issues focusing with the k&f adapters? I own it and I can focus past infinity with it.
+Paul F Hi Paul! I can focus past infinity with many of my lenses as well, but I don't consider it an issue. I just don't like it when a lens stops short of infinity. Happy adapting:)
As Buzz said.....”to infinity and beyond!” 😉
Where do you get that nice mini tripod? :)
+mark zhooshi thrift store:)
I thought the Sony A5000 or A6000 comes with an E mount, do these old lenses need converting to an E mount?
+thegraveltrap Yes, you'll need an adapter to make these old lenses work with your Sony camera.
WTF? Did you even watch the video?
the focus on mine doesnt stretch that far, do you know why this is?
How do you clean your sensor if you use so much lenses?
+Markus K. I try to use good practices when changing lenses, but if some dust does get on the sensor, I use a rocket air to blow it off.
Ok Thx
I*ve bought this Objectiv also for 22,50€ with a Beroflx mini adapter for my Sony Alpha 850, an it makes perferct Pictures.
So, which is your favourite 50mm Minolta MD?
+GoatPvP I'm not sure I have a favorite, but this one and the 45/f2 end up on my camera more than the others.
AdaptedAlpha And do you prefer Rokkor, Rokkor-X or which Version is the sharpest / best One in General!
i really want to buy one of those so i would be glad to know which Version is your favourite.
What adapter for Nikon D5500
Pronounced Rowcore. Cool video.
buy a bigger aquarium for your poor fish... good video.
