Rishabh Pant is a player who loves attacking the opposition, but coming in before the 20th over at No. 5 doesn’t let him play his best game. His aggressive style can make a big impact later in the innings when conditions are better for counter-attacking cricket. In Perth, India’s top order showed the importance of patience. They handled the tough new ball in the 2nd innings & once the bowlers got tired & the ball softened, the middle order took advantage. It was a great example of how Test cricket should be played. The Perth pitch changed a lot over the match. On Day 1 it helped the seamers but by Day 2 it became more balanced. By Day 3, it started cracking up. Data showed the seam movement dropped by half from Day 1 to Day 2. We saw a similar pattern in Brisbane. McSweeney & Khawaja worked hard in tough conditions early on, setting the stage for Smith & Head to score later when batting was easier. This shows the nature of the kookaburra ball. It’s dangerous in the first 20 overs but becomes easier to play after that. The top order’s job is to survive the new ball & the teams that handle this phase better tend to succeed. India might need to rethink their batting order. Rohit Sharma could bat at No. 3 with Kohli at 4 & Gill at 5. Gill is talented but often loses his wicket early at No. 3. Moving down the order could help him play more freely. Pant could then come in at No. 6 facing a softer ball & tired bowlers. The series has also shown how well the lower order has performed. Players like Carey, Reddy, & Jadeja have done well because they’ve come in when the ball has softened & the bowlers are worn out. This is why India’s middle order looked so strong in Perth..the openers did their job creating perfect conditions for the rest. In Melbourne the stakes are high. India hasn’t lost there since 2011 & this match could decide the series with Sydney usually producing draws. Australia might be slight favorites, but at 1-1..India has a strong chance...

The main reason i feel travis head does best against bumrah is his playing style when we call about the "top of off stump length" , bumrah is a master in it , but travis head has actually cracked the code , he is ready for the balls top of off as he is already on his backfooot , ready for cuts and punches , it is very evident that in early part of the innings trvais struggles against ball pitching full , also he had trouble against jadeja , where india didn't take a review , all plans can work against other players , but not travis , if bumrah need to get travis out , you need to ball on his body either full or short , the player who is so good cutter and splasher of the ball cannot be dismissed by the top of off delievery.

that's really interesting - with India coming to England this summer i'm thinking that Crawley & Pope won't crack that code but i can see Duckett, Root & Brook having a chance... i think England will produce pretty batter friendly pitches because they want their team ready for Oz and they also don't want to face India on green swingers as that could make Bumrah unstoppable. Looking at the venues, the only ones not ideal for him are Lords, because he's got little experience on the slope and OT because it requires a change in length from the first 3 tests and the bounce is something he'll find different to the first 3 tests.

Over the wicket against Travis Head is the best because you also get the natural angle and more ways to dismiss him. I think bumrah is bowling around the wicket because of naveen ul haq, two times naveen got head by bowling around the wicket but again the problem there is head is a opener in white ball cricket and the swing generated in indian and carribean conditions are different from australian conditions.
