I think the real issue for India has been Rohit and Kohli not making any runs. The reason Aus could drop Agar in that series was because they had actual batsman. Our two seniormost batsmen are so low on runs that we cannot afford to drop Nitish. He has been the highest scorer for us in way too many innings.
During bowling, nobody other than Bhumrah is looking like capable of taking a wicket and during batting, the senior batters have become the weakest link.
All thanks to the selfless captain who wanted to open and also disturbed kl's position . Gill is a youngster he should have played all the games , he missed Perth as well because of his injury. Definitely looked comfortable in the matches he played.
It's not so black and white, but yeah, you're right. It almost seems like Kohli is overstaying his welcome now and maybe even tarnishing his own legacy (unless he scores a double hundred today -- extremely unlikely)
if we just wait for a second and say that NKR is playing as a batsman who can give you a few overs then suddenly he isn't the one posing any problems for india. maybe the biggest problem there is of his batting order(but that is a nitpick).yeah there are problems with India's bowling but he isn't the one causing them that is an issue of bowlers other than bumrah not taking any wickets and underutilization of 4th and 5th bowlers.
What Jarrod and sanjay mean is if Indian management believes all other batters coming in before are better than Nitish then you have to drop nitish to make way for a bowler. Obviously a simple alternative is to make him bat in top 6 and pick a bowler in place of a batsman but the question is who do you drop?
@@AmanSaini-cd8jv So far the Indian management has not dropped Nitish to "make way for a bowler" So it seems like the management has faith in the ability of Nitish as a 4th/5th bowler as well. And all of the top 6 are accomplished batsmen in their own respect, and experienced ones (except Jaiswal). So obviously all others coming before Nitish are better than Nitish (including Jadeja)
Yes, Nitish Reddy made a hundred. But, Jaiswal would have. And even if he didn’t, Gill would have. Nitish is playing as a “Batter” after the last two tests. Why, then, you also need Sundar and Jadeja as “bowling batters”? I don’t mind Nitish as a batter, but he shouldn’t be replacing Gill. He can replace Rohit and Kohli.
The problem is always when your lower order is bailing you out the question is always on the top if it's exception then it's ok if the innings is exceptional the temptations are ... Who is the scape goat?
Nope. Why you guys have to compare new players with others? What is this obsession? He has his own style of batting which is way more different from Steve Smith.
Sehwag was lucky, he never had to bat against McGrath in Australia. Otherwise his average would have been how it was in England, NZ and SA - under 30. Still Siddle, Pattinson and Hilfenhaus basically ended his career in 2011/12.
given Pant is batting 5, Reddy looks a better bet for 6 than Jadeja... if he is coming in with a top 5 batter still at the crease, then he's got more opportunity to hit a hundred and he then has both Jadeja & Sundar to follow.
You cannot compare Ashton Agar with NKR. NKR can come in as pure batsman who can bowl just like Mitchell Marsh for Australia. He is the only batsman who is in form for India along with KL.
I suppose he is the problem and solution as we can clearly see the lack of trust in the indian top 6 and i was always a little relieved when they took washington sundar in place of gill which was good decision by rohit as he can face a lot more deliveries than gill does or has (patience too)in australia this series, and can bowl good offspin and fear in the top 6 is collapse not the lack of specialists.but i expect gill to be back once rohit retires, kl definitely should open
There is this weird notion that he is actually a bowling allrounder who can hit out ala Pant. Maybe that is because SRH play that all out aggressive cricket. Till now he does not look anywhere near an allrounder. His bowling seems fine. Maybe with defensive fields he can become a holding bowler, but right now he is perhaps better off being considered a batting all-rounder.
Jarrod, but don’t you think he should be playing at 4/5/6 though? I’ve felt like he’s running out of partners every game when he comes in at 8 and then he has to slog to make whatever he can. If he batted at least 2-3 positions up I think he could’ve even been top run scorer in this tour. He’s about 120 runs behind Head and I don’t think it’s far fetched that he would’ve scored at least 100 runs more in the 6 innings before today.
I wish Indians would play Boland like that. He is a one trick pony. England smashed him in the Ashes last year and since then he wasn't picked until this series and he troubled Indian batsmen again. LoL.

He is not at all bowling full enough to take wickets but he is spraying gentle short deliveries every now and then and he is going around 4 economy in this series.
