I use different method , which made few of my used motors much faster . I had a single shaft blue motor , came in a aero vente starters kit . it was so much slower than stock MS chassis car. but after I clean n spray , it's much much faster than the MS now
Good vid on motor info Stopped since high sch and came back recently, I'm still using my very long time hyper dash 1 although a decade of inactivity and advent of newer and better engines probably means I'll have to source out a newer one, maybe a hyper dash 3. Back then my friends uses motors like Jet dash, Plasma dash and even Turbo dash, all of them on paper are way faster than hyper dash 1 but through trail and error on mods I can actually give them a run for their money although my car looks rather stock with very little mods as a result. For my maintenance part back then I only opened up the engine to shoot it with WD40 before every race. After every race I will shoot it with WD40 again, let it dry wipe it down and finally air spray it before storing in a seperate air tight container. After almost a decade of not touching it I was expecting it to be gone case and to my very surprise it is still all clean and running though I have yet tracked it, fingers crossed though.
its actually for washing off the carbon and dirt after a day's running. The proper alternatives are contact cleaners like Mckenic, i used wd40 back then because its very cheap, easily found anywhere and i didnt know about contact cleaners.
Hello Jonathan! I follow with interest your canal!! Just a questione... Which is the right use of voodoo oil? During races, for braking in... And How I can recover an old motor not damaged?
Same way~~, spray or soaking in zippo light fluid, but most likely I spray with powershot . Before race, I use "Voodoo Contact Fluid" to boost up the motor, that "Voodoo Contact Fluid" will give u a temporary 10 - 20% power-up speed, but only last couple lap~~
ton belarmino Let me tell you this~~ for 3 years experience ~~ "the motor break in and make motor power up" , it is a rumor. I have been burn off hundreds of motor, because that stupid rumor when I was newbie. then I do a lot of research and talk to people who has more experience than me, finally I figure out. There is no way you break in motor well and make the motor faster. The properly way is just clean your motor brush like what I did in this video, and use laser tester to test the motor RPM. and run a little bit~~.maybe be will +- 5% different. Let me just you an example, if you buy 5 sets of new hyper dash 3, and you test RPM for each motors out of box, suppose the results are 19000, 18500,20000,21000,21500. Let me tell you this... the one with 19000 RPM. no matter what you do with break in, the 19000 rpm will just stay around that......maybe +-5% later on ....but that 19000 rpm motor will be no way to increase to 21500. I tell everybody who ask me about break in... stop wasting time on break in...especially a lot of people over break in motor, cause the motor dead, burn off and short the life. just clean your motor and test the RPM like what I did in the video, run a little bit break in , just for clean brush purpose, and test RPM again to have more accurate data, and "TRASH the SLOW MOTOR, STOP WASTING TIME ON DAY DREAMING RELY ON BREAK IN SKILL WHICH CAN MAKE YOUR MOTOR FASTER" Just buy a lot of same type of motor, test all of them, and LABEL the RPM number on the motor, trash the one need to trash......Again, this video is not trying to teach u how to power-up the motor by break in...it is just teach u how to clean your motor and run break in a little bit, make motor fresh up a little , in order to I can have more accurate RPM data by using laser RPM tester. Again, most of professional racers, they use the procedure which I show on this video, and buy a lot of motor, and test each one, keep the one they think the speed is good. trash or dis-assembly the one is really slow.... the tamiya motor is made on machine, their speed of each is very random (+-20%)
For a business purpose , some people sell "Pre-Break in" motor for expensive price or mention his motor break in well so speed is good. ... that's how rumor spread out!! Basically most brand new motors are out of box, they seem to be slow, because the factory grease stick on the new brush, most people didnt clean well..... you need to clean well and run a little bit to wash off the factory grease, and then lube again with motor oil, then you should have true speed of that motor....it is all because of hallucination then the rumor spread around the world
Mad Tang what you said in your first reply is very true. I did test my motors using rpm checkers on an android app and it turns out that you are right. My hyper dash 2 has 21,000 rpm while my power dash has 27,000 rpm when I run them both on rpm checkers.. thank you for replying..
Hello Mr mad tang, thanks you for posting this great video, I have one question after watching this, is the motor spray you using same as the contact cleaner spray ? It is because contact cleaner spray are much easier to buy in Hong Kong. Thank you
I never try those contact cleaner spray~~ the one we have in USA, the "PowerShot" it is design for RC, motor and ball bearing cleaner... it spray out very cold temperature liquid and evaporate very fast~~
Where do you buy the motor oil??? Is there a particular brands or material of oil that I need to use for the motor??? Also, how do I know if the motor is burn out???
Hey Mad Tang, at the end of the video, is that your car? The firestring or something, I am interested in that custom cover/sticker on it, I wanna know where did you buy it from or how did you make it. Sorry I'm new to these stuff and thanks in advance.
How do you know if your motor is burn out or damage??? I recently turn on my light dash motor and it was making a screeching noise. I added some oil in it and ran it for a minute and the noise stop. Can you tell me what happen???
I’m not sure if you fixed it by now but if not, try changing the gear in the motor box, usually it’s Black colored and the other is Blue. If not, maybe the motor small White gear is loose.
Hey! i just heard from some of the profectional racer , some of the motor after break in, performance can improve up to 15-20 % of the original speed, do you have any idea how they did ? because they don't really want to told , seems a big secret on how to break in the motor
it is not improve~~ it is the motors original speed~~ some of brand new motor need a little bit break in to improve the brush contact~. new motor has flat brush which is less contact, or has a lot of grease around the brush which block the contact~ thats why need to a little break in and clean to give you the true RPM of that motor~ I will make another video of testing and break in 6 ultra dash~~ That video will tell you exact what I mean~~ by the way~~ to improve 15-20%, you can simplely use the Mini-Z Voodoo Oil, one drop before the race, that also can improve 15-20% in first lap.... but only last one lap~Anyway~~ Break in is just let motor to generate it true speed. There is so many rumor about break in motor, dont event worry about~~ focus on physical design will give more speed than Break in motor..
200/5000 do you also look at the weight of the engine? some Italian racers have told me that a well-tested hyper dash pro at the top of the performance weighs about 18.2 g against 18.6 g from new. do you think so too?
dont worry about~~ as long as you have better physical setup on car~~ the same type of motor will not be a issue~~ I use my Light dash to defeat people's hyper dash and power dash~~ focus more detail on physical design~~ this is the right way to play this hobby~
i used to pimp all my tamiya mini yonku standard motor ( silver and white mabuchi ) with bandai hyperdash motor ahhh missss thoseeee timesss
I don't know what you're taking about, but I watch your videos to fall asleep easily.
I use different method , which made few of my used motors much faster .

Ken Koh is wd40 good for engines? , it dosnt mess with it at all? pretty keen to try it
its actually for washing off the carbon and dirt after a day's running. The proper alternatives are contact cleaners like Mckenic, i used wd40 back then because its very cheap, easily found anywhere and i didnt know about contact cleaners.

Just a questione...
Which is the right use of voodoo oil?
During races, for braking in...
And How I can recover an old motor not damaged?
Hey Mad, thx for sharing, I will try on my new motor. Would you please show us how you maintain your used motor?
Same way~~, spray or soaking in zippo light fluid, but most likely I spray with powershot . Before race, I use "Voodoo Contact Fluid" to boost up the motor, that "Voodoo Contact Fluid" will give u a temporary 10 - 20% power-up speed, but only last couple lap~~
Ur the best youtuber ever
Keep up the good work
thanks
Mad Tang Which motor is the fastest because I am going to put a ultra dash In my brothers tomy gordon.
Good day, can you give some tips on how to increase the power of a tamiya motor if its not properly break in? hope you can give some tips. thanks..

Would wd 40 contact cleaner work in place of the power shot?
Need help. My hyper dash 2 suddenly dropped speed right after it got stuck while motor is running. What can i do to fix it?
Where do you buy the motor oil??? Is there a particular brands or material of oil that I need to use for the motor??? Also, how do I know if the motor is burn out???

Hai mad you have tutorial for break in plasma dinamo....
So i just bought a cheap motor for my tamiya magnum. After building it, i tested it. The motor only heats up and the car doesn’t move. Help
I’m not sure if you fixed it by now but if not, try changing the gear in the motor box, usually it’s Black colored and the other is Blue. If not, maybe the motor small White gear is loose.

Curious to know what is the major differences between hyper dash 2 from hyper dash 3. Is hyper dash 3 better???

bonto
mad... i see M letternin ur motor... what is that refers to? and how u determined those motor??
How to break in motonu ltra dash
So much gimmick for a little motor. The only way you will make this faster is if u use silver wirings instead of copper.
NinesOwnGoal TouchMe yeah that works, but modified motors/opened motors can’t be use to official races,
Hi,can you recomend me a motor for stock race thank's i am using a AR chasis
