You know, the one character I would leave with white skin is Weiss, but hear me out on this:
Weiss with albinism. Bonus points if she needs to wear glasses.
i agree and it could also be a good lesson on how people of all colors and gender can be friends with each others not just with there own.
Yeah that's the biggest gripe I have with these designs. Weiss needs to be fair skinned. She's Snow White afterall.

Animations is hard and I respect anyone who work in that field, I wish you the best with learning blender.
For my Kingdom Hearts Rewrite series, learning Blender was the natural choice in order to create more imaginative concepts and stills. I picked it up back in January 2021 and used it for one or two graphics, but it was so intimidating and I never bothered installing it on my main PC. Now that I'm reaching my point in that series where the dinky little Data Greeting mode on KH3 is really starting to show its limits, as well as setting my sights on future projects, I could REALLY benefit from picking up the basics of Blender. This video helps give me the confidence I need!

Sidenote: how dare you make Dream Drop Distance into a masterpiece. I'm not exaggerating, the number of times your character writing made me tear up and scream aloud is insane XD Not to mention reinventing the lore of the dream worlds into something that's both easy to understand and is a great way to explore a character's psyche? Iconic

Last month I was messing around in Source Filmmaker and recently also started trying out Blender a bit. I'm more interested in posing models and creating cool photos/scenes, but learning Blender has been interesting. This video really came at the right time for me!
As someone who can't draw a straight line with a ruler, that "Shoulders are hard" line... I SOOOOO FELT that!!!! I love the models!!! Sooo cute!!! Squeeeee!!!!! Keep it up! Every draft will be better than the last. You'll learn new techniques and get ideas as you go. Also, Ruby as a wolf ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥!!! Make more shit!!!!! We love it!!!!! Have fun!!!!
As someone who's been using blender since 2014 it is really fun, even if I'm awful at actually finishing shit, got two RWBY fan trailers and I doubt I'm making the rest.
Also you are 100% right about weight painting being a shit show, one of my characters has a pauldron to hide how fucked her shoulders weight painting and topology is
I hopped on Blender back in 2019 ish, and once I saw the UI I was like "NOPE"
But you inspired me to give it another go 😆
(Plus I hear learning 3D comes in handy with posing characters and background drawing)

I'm glad Blender is a thing so that 3D animation and design can be more open to the mainstream! As an animation student I think in jumping over to it to try out some models I found online but as someone who's been taught to use Maya, its trying to unlearn shortcuts from instincts cause everything on the wrong button.
I have bear bout some cool schulturing tools on blender that as an artist I do wanna try out.

Yeah, Weiss being the only white, pale girl in Team RWBY is how I felt more comfortable with given Weiss is from a cold region plus her ice motifs and all. Weiss being white while Ruby and Yang being tanned while Blake is the only dark skinned members seems right in my eyes. That’s how I saw Team RWBY in my rewrite, diverse
Congrats for getting into blender :) blender is super cool as it has a bunch of mods that people have made for many different things, I use kirytoon shader for my models to bring out the toony look but there are many other types of mods you can use. Start exploring, and have fun! I hope to see more of your models and animations soon.
You could go to the Cryptonics02 route and make animatic stills for your rewrite.
Thank you for posting this. I love 3D modeling and I use blender however my computers fan blew out and now if I do 3D modeling my computer overheats and dies so seeing someone I love watching enjoy a hobby I had to put on hold makes me really happy.

>_> I'm the odd one out that never used the Donut tutorial when jumping into Blender. The ones I used was Danny Mac 3D, Grant Abitt, SpeedChar and maybe like... 3 minuets of TomCAT? All of them on RUclips, but I think Danny Mac's "Stop Sculpting in Blender like this" video because he gives other ways you can actually use the other tools. He does have a class that he gives, but I THINK you have to pay for it unfortunately. So Speedchar is a good one to look at a longer line of character creation. That one helped me understand a few other tools I couldn't quite understand, and that whole set of classes are free he created and up to ep 26. I'm rather happy with how I gotten from Blender within three days of playing with it. (my first time ever using it was in High school in the early 2000's because my teacher was making us learn it and I made a monstrosity that I don't even know how I got it that far).
Thank you for making your video. I've been teaching myself digital art for awhile. Been trying to create maps and characters using mac's version of powerpoint, called Keynote because I found myself able to add shadows and free draw but have shapes handy useful but it is a little restrictive with maps which I found frustrating and if I make something too complex the program crashes. Seeing what you are to do with blender and told in a fashion that was easier to understand than I've seen elsewhere was really cool. I never knew blender was a thing or that it was free to download. Thank you for sharing your art it's amazing!
I'm a freshman animation student and every time my teachers say we'll use blender in the future i want to go quit school because it seems... intimidating. I tried to use blender once and rage quit after 6 hours... This video makes me want to learn it again now, it looks a little less intimidating.
It's actually funny you post this. I am a very ambitious visionary also loving the hell out of the Sims 3 and creating my own Winx sims. Even though I spend the majority of my time gushing over and spoiling my Tecna and Timmy sims, I have created the other couples and the Trix as well in separate households. This being said, I have searched the internet for a suit that would work for the Specialists. The best I could come up with is this god awful superhero suit. It serves its function for now, as they are superheroes in their own right.
Now, on to blender. I actually got sick of the superhero suits, they were just not it. And I decided to take matters into my own hands. I have seen custom Winx cc done before and plenty more for Sims 4 which makes me super jelly. Even though I'm taking a different approach to Blender, I am still running into similar problems. Takes a lot of practice, patience and trial and error to figure out what the hell each tool does. I have created the Specialists' uniform and Tecna's season 3 ball gown in Marvelous Designer using a free trial and converted them over to Blender. The beautiful thing about Blender is that it's open source and free, so I do have the freedom to take a break and come back whenever and not have it break my wallet.
And as for your work, it is tremendously astounding. I love the set pieces and character designs. It really shows off your passion for creativity and I'm happy this is the outlet you have to let your visions come to life. I love your Winx rewrite and it would be amazing to see animation accompanying your brilliant storytelling. The scene with Bloom at her desk is so cute. The characters look amazing. I know nothing about RWBY but I can see how much detail and energy you put into your redesign and the influences you used. Everything you made Is incredible and I am at awe. Keep doing you.

I’ve only just starting trying animation. I’m mean, I’ve been wanting to try for years but I never thought I’d be good enough at it. For the past month or so I’ve been trying it with pivot but only the basics…but I can’t really do it right now cause I have other things to sort out, like study’s and stuff

Me: stay away from my characters then, you don't seem to use other skin colours besides dark, unless you actually respect the source material... the only characters i draw with dark skin are characters that already had it from the initial design to begin with... and i already know how to model, can do it on MMD editor to begin with.
