It’s 2.42am I’m just going bed after spending a day working on my bathroom in which I’ve used JG pushfits and I realised after seeing this, I forgot to put inserts in the last 2 pushfits before connecting the bath up. You’ve just earned my thanks, and a subscription 👍🏾
#4 clean allll the paint off the pipe first otherwise you'll have water pouring through my ceiling, I mean someone's ceiling.
I might be wrong, but i thought forgetting the pipe inserts was a bigger problem on the hot side as the hot water softens the pipe. My sister worked in a care home where a couple popped off on the hot side... No pipe inserts... They checked a few more and the so called professional plumber company had not used any inserts and they had to shut it down for a month and movd everyone out to remake all the joints..
The tip about making sure the pipe is all the way in could save people a lot of trouble, brilliant.
Yep, our cowboy plumber cut the pipe on the slant in our upstairs bathroom, and two weeks later, the pipe pushed off, and we had niagra falls happening down the stairs and through the kitchen ceiling.
Sorry, my friend, but you shouldn't waste water.
@ganishnutinishnu7370 What I shouldn't have done was employ a useless wannabe plumber..
@@martynbuzzing3327 2 wrongs don't make a right.
Thanks again for useful tips
Just bought Hep2o connectors for the first time. This video was excellent - thanks !
Thanks for the tips ...and as entertaining as ever !
Thanks for the advice 🙏 👍
Thing is, do all plumbers go round to the back of they're vans, open the door slightly, & do a poo in to a black dustbin bag at side of road on the high street, or is it just the guy I work with? 😂 Not jokin either!!
Bonus tip no chrome or stainless in push fit the grab ring teeth can't bite into the harder metals and your fitting will blow off at some point.
I did not think of that...
@@SteveN-pw4dj my gran had a wet room conversion done a few years before she passed by social services. The bathroom fitting company did exactly this in the loft, it popped a few years layers and flooded the whole house. Morons.
Ahhhhh yes! That’s a good one too!
Can you put plastic pushfit into brass radiator valve?
@@Acostamorte you can it's the same 15mm so would do up like a copper pipe in a compression joint. Just be sure to use a pipe insert.
Loved the humour in your sponsor section 😄. It would be a pretty close call between you and Roger.
Love it cheers👍
Hello James. Love all your videos and humour. Can you tell me, do I need to change the pipes under the kitchen sink to accommodate a mixer tap? I have the old two tap sink and taps which I want to change. There are two pipes left and right for hot and cold. I was going to have a go myself but I think it might need a plumber. Thank you. 👍🤗
If you do have to use a hacksaw to cut copper pipe try using it backwards, so the teeth are cutting when you pull the saw back instead of forwards👌👌
never hacksaw. It is best to purchase a copper pipe cutter, the small one, on here is fine. I have one and it is magic as just a few turns and it is done, and all squared off, and cheap from the likes of local plumbing stores.
Hep fittings require silicone grease unless they are now coming pre-lubricated?
A very good firday morning to you sir from Wellington Somerset
@plumberparts why didn't you upload this video a week earlier!! The only mistake i did was that I didn't debur inside of copper pipe before inserting into pushfit. It's now behind a wall and boarded. Is it a major issue?
Push fits. The thing I forgot, and now reminded Many thanks. I notice, also, that if you hacksaw a pipe you may not get the pipe squared off, have it at a slant, and no good for a sealed position.
Great value video normal
Can I use expanding foam on JG speegfit? Thanks.
I like a nice frontal bit too
Congratulations
Should the pushfit fitting be able to rotate on the pipe? I have a Tectite Isolation Ball valve thats connected to a dishwasher inlet, that rotates on the pipe. I’m having to replace the washer on the dishwasher inlet hose because that is leaking. Was wondering if I have to sort out the isolation valve as well?
My biggest mistake was becoming a plumber in the first place after the mistake of being born
Really? Heard it's an awesome skill to have?
I say that everyday.
What a crap job.
Pays well though.
@@bpavilion8994you're right but it can be extremely hard on your body.
Working for a plumbing company and being a plumber are 2 different things .
Amazing
should i use a push fit tee for copper pipe as the tee I'm using is leaking
Hi ya iv just put a copper pipe in to a plastic connector. and its stuck .just seen ya video tried the screw driver. were do I get that plastic removal tool from plz
Should I use a lubricant before inserting pipe into plastic fittings ?
What if you need to T into an already fitted copper pipe that is too close to a wall to fit a pipe cutter around. Is there any other option than to saw them? Great videos, BTW.
btw i am our bigest fan
With those pipe inserts do they affect the flow rate of the water ?
They can do. You find on a lot of heat pump installs if you're using plastic or mlcp over copper you have to go up a size.
Do the speed fit inserts with two blue rings not fit all plastic pipes? I can’t get mine to insert…
It's not the o ring that's the problem, it's the gap left between the stop in the fitting and the grab ring!
The greater the system pressure, the more likely the fitting will "creap" off.
Hi James.
That black fan you have there. I have been looking for a fan like that for my own workshop. Any idea where I can get one from. I want to fix it to a window to help with the dust extraction (woodwork) Hope you can help. Thanks in advance 👍👍
Hi Cliff. I got mine from Amazon mate.
amzn.to/3PbaRqz (Fan with speed control) it’s a BEAST I’m even happy welding galvo in there now (with a mask)
Cheers James.@@plumberparts
Mmm, not a fan of using push-fit on copper. When push fittings first came on the market, I thought great and got a range of them. Did a bathroom job and about a month later had to go back, as a damp patch had appeared on the lounge ceiling. Cut into the ceiling, as we had tiled the bathroom floor, to find the only push fitting to copper was weeping. Changed it to a compression fitting. Took the push-fitting apart to find the “O” ring had, what I can only describe as, “scabs” where it was in contact with the copper.
Took all the fittings back to the supplier for a complete refund and a quote from a decorator to make good. Later they said the manufacturer said it was a bad batch of seals and paid out for making good. Perhaps that was true, but I’ve always used compression since then, when connecting copper to pex pipes.
You missed a tip!!!
The Hep2O pipe inserts have little bumps on the end. You then turn the pipe in the fitting and you’ll feel a rumble in the pipe from the bumps. That tells you you have enough… coughs… penetration
Is there any need to use the spray lubricant?
I've used pvc pipes for my rads, they're going up the wall but I want to embed them in the wall. Can I bond over the pvc pipes? Or copper pipes for that matter. I've heard you should put gaffer tape over the pipes... is that true or BS?
When I try to cut a few mm off of a 15mm copper pipe with a pipe slicer, the end of the pipe goes out-of-shape. If you use one of those pipe inserts, does that help you get a nice cut? Loving the show, btw.
Needs to be a clean cut for inserts, they won't fit in a folded over pipe sliced cut.
Both roller guides on either side of the cutting wheel need to be running on pipe when using a pipeslice. If they don't, you'll never get a straight clean cut.
Never had that problem, and cannot see how that can happen. Maybe turning the wheel the wrong way round? interesting!
Nick Bundy’s beard! I think I’ve met her 😂😂
I prefer JG Speedfit and others because you don't need that cumbersome Hep20 release tool
I agree. A customer bought all Hep20 pipe and fittings for me to fit his radiators. I hadn't got the demount tool so had to dismantle the fitting and push them off the pipe to adjust the lengths. A total pain compared with the ease of Hughes fittings.
I wonder if this will be answered as I have asked on numrous videos and never got an answer. What if the copper pipe you need to splice into is tight up against the wall with no way of getting a pipe cutter in behind it, and no way of pulling it away from the wall without breaking something? How do you cut the pipe? I would love to know. 👍
Cutting disc
If it is that close to a wall you would probably struggle to get a plastic fitting on as they are considerably bulky.
Deburring may stop eroding, NOT corroding (its a copper pipe) Sorry about being pedantic....
Burrs on copper pipes can create turbulence in the water flow, which can lead to localised areas of increased pressure and friction. These areas can become more susceptible to corrosion because the protective oxide layer on the copper surface may be disrupted. So, deburring the pipes helps ensure a smoother flow and reduces the risk of corrosion.
These fittings akeays leak.
Ive had 3 polyplumb 15mm elbows blow off. All cut correctly inserted etc, etc. Renewed the fitting, no problem.
The new town hall in Sheffield was fitted with fusion weld, pressure tested, passed. Water soon found plenty of leaks.
Whichever material is used, copper, plastic, fusion, soldered, welded, you're going to get leaks.
Get used it and make sure you're insured.😂😂😜
Nick bundy's beard is piss funny! Why oh why! Poor lad!
3:58 omg cancelled xD
You say you see these mistakes all the time, where do you see them?
Do you just rock up at a house with a plumbers van outside and go in to supervise them?
I always push it in all the way 😏
Why, just why would anyone hacksaw a copper pipe???? Some people just want to watch the world burn, dont they.
HAHA!
College used to make us hacksaw then file it down mate.
@luckytheadventurecat2983 that sounds grim.
When the pipe you need to cut is in situ and jammed up against the wall or other pipes and you can't get any pipe cutter in there
@@nickcollins7568 Exactly this. Lift a few floorboards in an average house. You'll soon discover the pipes so stupidly tight you'll be doing anything you can to get at them.
I mean why not reem when using a hacksaw? You can use a hacksaw perfectly fine with some prepwork for a diyer ect. You wouldnt just leave the cut like that 😂
Like a toned down version of colin furze 😊..great content btw
Hey what’s Bradley cooper doing on RUclips
Haha!
House bashers use plastic . Proper plumbers use copper
Wrong. For underfloor pipework plastic is far superior as you don't have to chop great chunks out of joists to lay in the copper pipes. Just drill holes and thread the plastic through. But for visual pipework always copper I agree.
Anyone else notice the jump cut where he tries to use the release tool and fails, to him aying how easy it was to use the release tool...
Haha! Those things can be a REET PAIN!
If you've not subscribed, sling you hook! 😂😂😂
A correctly sized open spanner is better than the release tool or the two screwdriver method.
No, not for Hep2O fittings. Your method is OK for other makes of fittings.
1:29 1:31 1:31 1:32
Don't like nor trust these at all, and what's worse is that they're usually the same price or more than 'proper' fittings !
Got it: full insertion, frontal, reaming (right? Wasn’t sure coz of accent), hard halfway through. 👍
Now tell us about plumbing……
😂
Haha!
first
Watched for the advert. The rest I skipped through.
Donkey Rhubarb mate.
Surely soldering is the best, compression is second best and push-fit is.....well, it's like using flexis - if you only want it to last long enough for it to be someone else's problem, then crack on.
Worth mentioning there are 2 types of inserts for John guest pushfit. The normal superseal with the blue ring which you use on pushfit and the white JG pipe inserts which are made of much stronger plastic and go mint into a compression fitting 🔧🤌🏻
I didn't know this. The white one with no rubber seal is better for compression fittings?
@DavidLee-cw6ci yeah that's what I've always been told mate 🔧
My no.1 tip regarding pushfits would be don't use them. Use compression joints or soldering and if you need to use plastic pipes, again there are proper screw thread-based options which will last longer and cannot pop.
Just don’t use them
I wonder just how long those O rings are going to last? ...... I think this push-fit stuff is for the benefit of the lazy or partly-trained installer, not the customer.
I don’t want to be bullied in subscribing by your comment so I didn’t watch the video and won’t watch anymore of your normally good and helpful videos
Hold your chin up
your facial expressions are truly disturbing! Great tips.
Wow, thats a modern push fit fitting you’ve got 💰💸
